Winnie Clemintine (Clark) Hoover
Winnie Clemintine (Clark) Hoover, 75, of Saint Jo, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2002 in Gainesville Memorial Hospital, Gainesville, TX.
She was born June 9, 1927 in Baum, OK to John Griffin Clark and Myrtle Lee Coursey Clark. She married E.L. "Screwball" Hoover on June 1, 1946 in Gainesville, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of Illinois Bend Church.
Services for Mrs. Hoover were on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Saint Jo, TX with Sister Carolyn Geston officiating. Interment followed in Illinois Bend Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Craig McCrary, Willy Talley, Roy Brawner, Rex Parker, Dalton Lyons, Gary Hoover, Mike Wilhite, Danny Buck. Honorary pallbearers were Cecil Cornelison, Steve Cundiff, Joe Chavarria and Jeremy Dodd.
Survivors include: one daughter, Wanda Cundiff of Marietta, OK; one son, Rod Hoover of Saint, Jo, TX; two grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, one sister, and two brothers.
Mickey Hubert Shipley
Mickey Hubert Shipley, 57, of Fort Worth, TX, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2002 in a Fort Worth hospital.
He was born April 11, 1945 in Montague County, TX to Hubert M. and Vera Ruth Shipley. Mr. Shipley was a driver for Red Arrow Freight. He was a member of the Spanish Fort Baptist Church. He was a member of Prairie Valley basketball team that went to state in 1963. Mr. Shipley was a member of the National Guard.
Services for Mr. Shipley were conducted Saturday, December 28, 2002 at 3:00 p.m. with interment in the Old Spanish Fort Cemetery.
Survivors include: his wife, Peggy Hartman Shipley of Fort Worth, TX; and one sister, Peggy June Howard of Spanish Fort, TX.
Imogene Crenshaw
Imogene Crenshaw, 85, of Nocona, TX, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2002 in the Nocona General Hospital.
She was born March 12, 1917 to Tom and Estha Peter Skinner. Mrs. Crenshaw was a retired teacher.
Services for Mrs. Crenshaw were on Saturday, December 28, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Keith Barbee officiating with interment in the Nocona Cemetery.
Survivors include: one sister, Helen May of Nocona, TX; and two brothers, T.P. Skinner of Nocona, TX and Bob Skinner of Bowie, TX.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Crenshaw and twin brother Pete Skinner.
Richard Lamar Rountree
Richard Lamar Roundtree, 75, of Saint Jo, TX, passed away on Monday, December 23, 2002 in Saint Jo.
He was born June 16, 1927 to Otis Owen and Ida May Hampton Rountree in Wichita Falls, TX. Mr. Rountree grew up in Gilmer, TX. He graduated from Kilgore Junior College, and SMU in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marine. He was employed with Texas Instruments in Dallas until 1971 and then established Rountree Foods Distributing. He retired as Markting Director of Texas Twist Pretzels in 1998.
Services for Mr. Rountree were conducted Friday, December 27, 2002 at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Soper officiating. Interment followed in Mountain Park Cemetery, Saint Jo, TX.
A memorial service at Arapaho United Methodist Church will be scheduled at a later date.
Pallbearers were Doug Ashburn, Keith Ashburn, Doug Dunlap, Roy Brawner, Pat Fleitman and Frank Frey. Special honorary pallbearers were George Mills and Merle Arnold.
Survivors include: his wife Roberta of Saint Jo, TX; three daughters, Nancee Turlington of Saint Jo, TX, Diane Dees of Richardson, TX and Patti Otwell of Katy, TX; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Elaine Asburn of Flint, TX.
Lester M. Proctor
Mr. Lester M. Proctor, 95, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2002 in the Bowie Nursing Center, Bowie, TX.
He was born March 23, 1907 in Eastland, Tx. Mr. Proctor was an assembly man in the aircraft industry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sunset, Tx. On September 23, 1930 he married Viola Russell at Waurika, OK.
Services were conducted Tuesday, December 24, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Russell, a Church of Christ minister officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Cemetery, Sunset, TX.
Survivors include: one grandson, Lynn Proctor of Garland, TX; two great grandchildren, Elizabeth Proctor and William Proctor, both of San Diego, CA; two sisters, Wanda True of Dallas, TX and Mary Goff of New Mexico; two brothers, Marvin Proctor of Fort Worth, TX and Dale Proctor of Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one son, three brothers and four sisters.
Herman Dwane Bell
Herman Dwane Bell, 75, of Haltom City, TX, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2002 in Dallas, TX.
He was born June 10, 1927 in Montague, TX to John L. and Eula May Mitchell Bell. He was a master plumber, a veteran of the U.S. Navy WWII and a member of the Baptist faith.
Services for Mr. Bell were conducted Thurday, December 26, 2002 in the Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. L.C. Smith officiating. Interment followed in Montague Cemetery.
Robert "Bob" Pels
Robert "Bob" Pels, 58, of Muenster, TX passed away at his home in Muenster on Sunday, December 29, 2002.
He was born February 22, 1944 in Muenster, TX to Edward Casper Pels and Genevie Irene Yosten Pels. He was a 1962 graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Muenster and Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK in 1967. He owned and operated Muenster Pharmacy for over 30 years. Mr. Pela was a member of Sacred Heart Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Linda Pels of Muenster, TX; two daughters, Gina and Wendy Pels, both of Muenster, TX; one son, Jonathan Pels of Muenster. one grandchild; his mother, Gen Pels of Muenster, TX; five sisters, Mary Lamkin, Dolores Eberhart, Beverly Stevens, Carol Fuhrmann and Joanie Huneycutt; three brothers, Gerald, Kevin and Clifford Pels.
Services for Mr. Pels were on Tuesday, December 31, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A. officiating. Interment followed in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Toby Eberhart, Eddie Lamkin, Craig Huneycutt, Jared Pels, Danny Stevens, and Dustin Dietz.
Mr. Pels was preceded in death by his father.
Fay Alligood
Fay Alligood, 69, of Bowie, TX passed away on December 28, 2002.
Mrs. Alligood was born on September 8, 1933 in Bethel, OK. She was a carpet layer.
Graveside services for Mrs. Alligood were held on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Tage Cemetery in Bowie, TX with Jamie Reed officiating. Services were directed by Fry Funeral Home of Bowie.
Surviving relatives include: one brother, Raymond Cooper, Bowie, TX; four nieces; one nephew; two great-nephews; one great-niece; one aunt, Hattie Griffith, Pottsboro, TX; three sister-in-laws, Frances Haskins, Denison, TX, Vertie Shepard, Henrietta, TX, and Mattie Lou Howell, Macon, GA; one brother-in-law, Ray Alligood, Milan, GA and several cousins and friends. Mrs. Alligood was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Myrtle Cooper, her husband, Bill Griffith; her second husband, Bud Alligood; one brother, William Cooper and one sister, Willie Lorene Cooper.
Pallbearers included: Benny Clark, Rusty Howard, Gary Redman, Bruce Barber, Allen Miller, James Smith. Honorary pallbearers included: Bob Haney, David Durham, Albert Faulk, and Jerry Wade, Jr.
