Nettie Beatrice "Bea" (Rhyne) Tucker
Nettie Beatrice "Bea" (Rhyne) Tucker, 89, of Saint Jo, TX passed away on December 30, 2002 in River Valley Health and Rehab Center in Gainesville, TX.
Mrs. Tucker was born on March 18, 1913 in Chico, TX to J.C. and Nettie Pate Rhyne. She married Johnie Sharp Tucker in 1930. She and Johnie operated Johnie’s Plumbing Shop some forty years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1926, served as Sunday School Teacher, Bible Teacher, served on the administrative board and was chairman of the Historical and Food committees. Mrs. Tucker was also a member of the Saint Jo Riding Club for about forty years, being chairman of the parade committee some 20 years. She also served on Meals on Wheels Board and was President of the PTA.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tucker were held on Friday, January 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Saint Jo with Rev. Jennifer Karrer and C.E. Cole officiating. Interment was held in Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo with McCoy Funeral Home directing the services.
Survivors include: one daughter, Betty Massalone, Moore, OK; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Johnie Andrew Tucker; one sister, Elizabeth Link; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Linda Massalone.
Pallbearers included: Bo Cocannouer, Jeff Schoolfield, Roy Lawler, Bill Harris, Dalton Lyons, and Don Abney.
Tim Wiseman
Tim Wiseman, 32, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away on December 29, 2002.
Mr. Wiseman was born on June 22, 1970 in Louisville, KY. He was Media Director at Wichita Falls Public Library for over ten years. He had resided in Wichita Falls, Texas since 1988. Mr. Wiseman was a member of First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and active in Singles class. He was a 1988 Bowie High School graduate, a 1991 graduate of Midwestern State University and in 1993 graduated from North Texas State University.
Funeral services for Mr. Wiseman were held on Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Bowie, Texas with Rev. Dick Hennings and Rev. Ben Wiseman officiating. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery with Fry Funeral Home directing the services.
Surviving relatives include: his parents, Ben and Wanda Wiseman, Bowie, TX; one sister, Jan DeLuna, Wichita Falls, TX; one brother, B.J. Wiseman, Wichita Falls, TX; three neices; his grandparents, Ben and Evelyn Wiseman, Cape Girardeau, MO; his grandmother, Irene Wheeless, Bowie, TX; one aunt, Karen Wheeless, Cedar Park, TX; two cousins and many friends. Mr. Wiseman was preceded in death by his grandfather, Elmer Wheeless and one uncle, Edward Wheeless.z

Mary Elizabeth Brown
Mary Elizabeth Brown, 83, passed away on January 2, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Brown was born on January 10, 1919 in Whitney, TX to Lew Allen and Margaret E. March Rainbolt. She married William B. Brown and was a homemaker.
Graveside services for Mrs. Brown were held on Monday, January 6, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Vaughn Cemetery in Aquilla, TX under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Bernard Brown, Montague, TX and Allen Brown, Fresno, CA; one daughter, Norma Alvarado, Bakersfield, CA; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Perry Allen (Noel) Colwell
Perry Allen (Noel) Colwell, 49, of Lake Charles, LA passed away on January 1, 2003.
Mr. Colwell was born on February 4, 1953 in Abilene, TX to Billy Joe and Alta Beth Shippman Noel. He married Teresa Colwell on October 9, 1993 in Palo Alto, CA. He retired as Director of Human Resources. Mr. Colwell was a member and past President of the Human Resources Consultants Assn.
Funeral services for Mr. Colwell were held on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Moore officiating. Interment was held in Montague Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Teresa Colwell; his mother, Alta Beth Ernst, Choctaw, OK; one son, Perry Garth Allen Colwell, San Luis Obispo, CA; one daughter, Tania Katherine Colwell, Lake Charles, LA; one grandson, Sebastion Wade Colwell; two sisters, Delores Evans and Penny Rankin, both of Oklahoma City, OK; two brothers, Roger Noel, Wynnewood, OK and Billy Colwell, Taylor Springs, IL.
Dorothy Marye Samples
Dorothy Marye Samples, 74, of Nocona, Texas passed away on January 5, 2003 in Nocona.
She was born October 4, 1928 in Nocona, Texas to J.W.A.B. (Walter) and Cora Hill Smith. Mrs. Samples retired from Justin Leather Goods after 27 years and was a florist for 11 years. She was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, member of TOPS, Past President of Montague County Genealogy Society and was presently serving as President of the Crepe Myrtle Garden Club.
Services were conducted Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. at Central Christian Church with Rev. Scott Hamilton officiating. Interment followed in Nocona Cemetery, with services under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, James Carminati of Nocona, TX and Joey B. Samples of Wichita Falls, TX; two daughters, Metta Jo Burleson and Mary Marie Ritchie, both of Nocona, TX; four grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Evelyn Wanda Hudson
Mrs. Evelyn Wanda Hudson, 79, a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX, passed away on January 5, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 15, 1923 in Bowie, Texas. On July 4, 1941 she married Clem L. Hudson in Henrietta, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Bowie.
Services were on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie with Rev. James C. Cunningham, a Baptist minister, officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the services. Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie.
Survivors include: three sons, Dale E. of Covington, TX, Roy of Bowie, TX and Gene W. of Dallas, TX; seven grandchildren; then great grandchildren; one brother, Troy Chambers of Pueblo, CO; one sister, Anna Ruth Granada of Azle, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Clem on June 28, 1976 and one son, Jack D. Hudson December 15, 1989.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Lindsey, John Barton, Loyd Smith, R.C. Phillips, Michael Leech and Lee Wharton.
Juanita Rainey
Mrs. Juanita Rainey, 76, a 40 year resident of Bowie, TX, passed away on January 5, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Rainey was born on June 15, 1926 in Buffalo Springs, TX. She was a seamstress at Haggar Manufacturing Company for 15 years and in her later life was a caregiver for the elderly. She was also a member of the Baptist faith.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rainey were held on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, TX with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Interment was held in Vashti Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Gary and Clinton Badgewell, both of Bowie, TX; four grandchildren, Dewayne Badgewell, Fort Worth, TX, Kevin Badgewell, Plano, TX, Garron and Misty Kay Badgewell, both of Whitesboro, TX; two sisters, Virgie Harris, Bowie, TX, and Onita Cox, Hurst, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included: Bob Aune, Duane Dawson, Bob McWilliams, Charlie Daniels, Randy Read and Wayne Harris.
Velma R. Wood
Velma R. Wood, 87, of Bowie, TX passed away on January 6, 2003 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Wood was born on January 30, 1915 in Decatur, TX. She married Donald M. "Buddy" Wood on June 23, 1934 at Dye Mound, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Bowie where she is a member of the Homemakers Sunday School Class.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wood were held on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Lawson and Rev. Ben Wiseman officiating. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Miss Jo Ann Wood, Bowie, TX; two sons, Billy C. Wood, Fort Worth, TX and Bobby G. Wood, Bowie, TX; three grandchildren; one great grandson; one brother, L. B. Clement, Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, D.M. "Buddy" Wood on October 8, 1994.
Pallbearers included: Donald Clement, Raymond Clement, James Clement, Jerry Clement, Johnny Clement, and Dickie Clement. Honorary pallbearers included: Dewayne Clement, Jimmy Frazier, Paul Wood, Doyle Frazier, Joe Frazier and Leon Clement.
Milbrey Johnson
Milbrey Johnson, 95, of Bowie, TX passed away on January 8, 2003 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Johnson was born on October 27, 1907 in Indian Territory, OK. She married William Ivan Johnson on October 1, 1926 at Indian Territory, OK. She worked as a clerk at Perkins Timberlake Department Store in Bowie for 28 years and worked as a volunteer with the Community Assistance Program. Mrs. Johnson was a member of the First Baptist Church since 1942, where she was also a member of the Friendship Sunday School class. She was a former Sunday School teacher and was active in WMU at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Johnson was voted the Bowie Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year in 1989. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star Bowie Chapter #16 in Bowie and a member of the Bowie Ministerial Alliance.
Funeral services for Mrs. Johnson were held on Friday, January 10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Ronnie Lawson officiating. Eastern Star Rites were conducted by the Order of Eastern Star Bowie Chapter #16. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Donald Johnson, Baton Rouge, LA and Jerry Lynn Johnson, Bowie, TX; one daughter, Lu Ann Tole, Oklahoma City, OK; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, William Ivan Johnson in 1976; two grandson, Jody Kendall Bright in 1973 and John Paul Franklin Johnson in 1981; and one great-grandson, Jeremy Patrick Williams in 1978.
Pallbearers included: Roy Curry, Paul Gray, Richard Bishop, Odele Oliver, Zeke Willett and Bobby McGee.
