A.L. Howard
Mr. A.L. Howard, 80, a thirty-two year resident of Bowie, TX, passed away on January 28, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 1, 1922 in Zavalla, TX. Mr. Howard was a drilling superintendent in the oil field and served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He and his wife Alice were married June 19, 1943 in Waurika, OK.
Survivors include:three sons, Corky Howard of Burleson, TX, Rusty Howard of Bowie, TX and Alfred Howard of Joshua, TX; three daughters, Deana Maggard of Antelope, TX, Lee Ann Hamilton of Springdale, AR and Shawna Nolan of Bowie, TX; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; four sisters, Billie Baker and Bonnie Galloway, both of Granbury, TX, Effie Hindman of Weatherford, TX and Coy Lee Grimsley of Bowie, TX; two brothers, J.M. Howard of Pelahatchie, MS and Edgar Howard of Waxahachie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Howard on January 3, 1996. and one son, Alfred Howard on July 2, 2002.
Services for Mr. Howard were on Thursday, January 30, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Interment followed in Ringgold Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jamie Hamilton, Rooster Throckmorton, Jessie Hamilton, Jerry Wade, Mike Deford and Charlie Parr.
Willeta G. Jackson
Mrs. Willeta G. Jackson, 90, a longtime resident of Dallas, TX before moving to Bowie, TX thirteen years ago, passed away on February 1, 2003 at Bellmire Home, Bowie, TX.
She was born December 12, 1912 in Moran, TX. She was a retired accounting technician for the Department of Health, Education and Welfare. She married Bill Jackson in 1948 in Dallas, TX. She was a member of the United Methodist faith.
Survivors include: three sisters-in-law, Opal Jackson and Lucille Davis, both of Bowie, TX and LaNelle Jackson of Lewisville, TX; one niece, Cindy Benton of Bowie, TX; two nephews, Mike Jackson of Pflugerville, TX and Jeff Jackson of Flower Mound, TX; and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Jackson in 1989 and one sister, Ireta Pittman in 1994.
Graveside services for Mrs. Jackson were on Monday, February 3, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie, TX with Dr. Chuck Aaron officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the service.
Josephine Katie (Hellinger) Fleitman
Mrs. Josephine Katie (Hellinger) Fleitman, 83, of Muenster, TX, passed away at her home in Muenster on February 2, 2003.
She was born in Gainesville, TX on July 6, 1919 to Peter Thomas Hellinger and Barbara Glaske Hellinger. She married Bernard Frank (Ben) Fleitman on August 22, 1939 in Muenster. Mrs. Fleitman was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Church. She was also a member of Saint Anne’s Society.She lived in Muenster for sixty-three years.
Survivors include: her husband, Ben Fleitman of Muenster, TX; five daughters, Christine Fleitman and Anna Marie Skinner , both of Muenster, TX, Betty Gilpin of Gainesville, TX; Helen Prescher and Pauline Prescher; five sons, Richard Hellinger of Saint Jo, TX, Ben Fleitman, Jr., Charles Fleitman, Gus Fleitman and Kenny Fleitman; twenty-nine grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law, Agnes Hellinger of Lindsay, Tx, Christine and Marcella Hellinger, both of Gainesville, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents, twin daughters, Barbara Ann and Catherine Marie Fleitman, one son, Edward Charles Fleitman; one grandson, Jeff Prescher; eight brothers and three sisters.
Services for Mrs. Fleitman were on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A. McCoy Funeral Home directed the service.
Pallbearers were Jay Prescher, Brett Preshcer, Randy Fleitman, Russell Fleitman, Lee Skinner and Mathew Fleitman. Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Prescher, Joey Prescher, Bart Prescher, Brian Prescher, Phillip Fleitman and Aaron Fleitman.
Mildred Cornelison
Mrs. Mildred Cornelison, 83, a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX, passed away February 2, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
She was born April 14, 1919 in Spiro, OK. She was a charter member of Bible Baptist Church in Bowie where she was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. She taught the Beginners Sunday School Class at Bible Baptist Church for twenty-nine years. She had a children’s day care for over thirty years in Bowie.
Services for Mrs. Cornelison were on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Bible Baptist Church in Bowie with Rev. Jamie Reed and Rev. Joe Rumbaugh officiating. Interment followed in Salona Cemetery. Fry Funeral Home directed the service.
Pallbearers were Rick Tarpley, Jon Lewis, Gary Griswold, Bruce Stell, Jases Brown and Bob Cornelison.
Survivors include: one son, Roy W. Cornelison of Bowie, TX; one daughter, Barbara Cozart of Bowie, TX; two grandchildren, John Lewis of Irving, TX and Jennifer Lewis of Bowie, TX; three brothers, Bob Prather of Fort Sumner, NM, Troy Prather of Clovis, NM and Tex Prather of Henrietta, TX; one sister-in-law, Delma Prather of Estancia, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Upton Cornelison, and two brothers, Pecos and Red Prather.
Virgil Case
Mr. Virgil Case, 64, a lifetime resident of Bowie, TX, passed away January 31, 2003 at his residence.
Mr. Case was born on April 27, 1938 in Bowie, Texas. He was a retired truck driver for Ready-Mix Concrete in Bowie after 30 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith. He married Cleo Posey on August 31, 1957 in Bowie.
Services for Mr. Case will be on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Survivors include: wife, Mrs. Cleo Case of Bowie, TX; one son, David L. Case of Benbrook, TX; three daughters, Connie Prestwood of Cotter, AR, Pennye Mincher and Glenda Terry, both of Bowie, TX; eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Leroy Case of Bowie, TX; two sisters, Evalena Gilmore of Wichita Falls, TX and Beatrice Funk of Stoneburg, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Pallbearers include: Joe Wadsworth, Jesse Hanson, Jimmy Lindsey, Gerald Hammer, Mark Hanson, and Tommy Terry.
Honorary pallbearers are: Jimmy Sadler, Jimmy Roth, Don Stephenson, Raplf Gann, and Bill Godfrey.
Wanda Faye "Sissy" Moore
Ms. Wanda Faye "Sissy" Moore, 23, a resident of Hunnewell, KS passed away on February 1, 2003 in Wichita, KS.
Ms. Moore was born on March 9, 1979 in Denton, TX to Doug and Debra Creed Moore. She graduated from Forestburg High School in 1998.
Services for Ms. Moore were held on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Argo and Rev. Roy Archer officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Cooke County.
Survivors include: parents, Doug and Debra Moore of Hunnewell, KS; grandparent, Wanda Faye Moore of Collinsville; three brothers, Frank Moore of Forestburg and his children, Traci, Tasha, Tobey, Frank III, and Jaggar and J.R. Moore of Hunnewell, KS and his children, Steven, Beaven, Malaci, JeddaDya and Matthew Moore of Nocona and his daughter, Monica; one sister, Carrie Barber of Hunnewell, KS and her children, Cassie and Tristen; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Traci Lynn Moore; Brother-in-law, Bobby Barber; nephew, Rocky Barber; grandparents, Frank E. Moore; Robert A. and Norma J. Creed.
Pallbearers were her cousins.
O’Dessa Yowell
O’Dessa Yowell, 91, of Hollis, OK passed away on February 6, 2003.
Mrs. Yowell was born on May 6, 1911 in Marietta, OK. She married Orth Yowell on October 19, 1935 at Henrietta, TX. She was a homemaker and a member of the Stoneburg Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Yowell were held on Monday, February 10, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Stoneburg Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Kennedy officiating. Interment was held in Oak Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: three sons, Monte Yowell, Bowie, TX, Jon Yowell, Hollis, OK, and Tommy Yowell, Amarillo, TX; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; one sister, Ruth Sutton, Nocona, TX; one sister-in-law, Emma Dean Berry, Grand Prairie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Yowell was preceded in death by her husband, Orth Yowell in 1962; two brothers, Walter Kilpatrick in 1906 and Cecil Kilpatrick in 1987; and one granddaughter, Shannon Michelle Yowell in 1970.
Pallbearers included: Thomas St. John, Tom Henry, Brock Lyons, Jimmy Kistler, Leighton VanVactor and Gary Prater. Honorary pallbearers included: Bill Prater, Robert Walker, Ricky Reynolds, Terry Morgan, Ricky Case and Bob Sutton.
