Lee E. Adler, III, 64, of Bowie, TX passed away on March 5, 2003.
Mr. Adler was born on July 26, 1938 in Dallas, TX. He married Janie Vallance on September 20, 1977 in Fort Worth, TX. Mr. Adler was a cook and a member of the Catholic faith.
A memorial service was held on Monday, March 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at St. William’s Catholic Church in Montague, TX with Father Stephen Berg officiating. The services were directed by Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Janis Adler, Bowie, TX; five children, Michael Castillo and Amanda Adler, both of Bowie, TX, Jeremy Castillo, Wichita Falls, TX, Adrianna Campbell, Montague, TX and Amiadee Dickinson, Clovis, NM; seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Adler, Mackinzie Adler, Lee Castillo, Tyler Castillo, Aaron Musick, Conner Campbell and Alexis Dickinson; and several nieces and nephews.
Janis Don Stilwell
Janis Don Stilwell, 72, of Nocona, TX passed away on March 8, 2003 at Medical Center of Lewisville, TX.
Mrs. Stilwell was born on February 7, 1931 in Spanish Fort, TX to Tolbert Freeman and Martha Cooper Moore. She married Delford T. Stilwell and worked at the Nocona Locker Plant, and at the Nocona Middle Cafeteria. Mrs. Stilwell was a member of the Nocona Church of Christ 39er’s and a member of the Nocona Art Club.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stilwell were held on Monday, March 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ of Nocona, TX with Dale Scott officiating.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Hope Toland, Lewisville, TX; four grandchildren, Dax Stilwell, Amber Stilwell, David Toland, Cody Toland. Mrs. Stilwell was preceded in death by her husband, Delford T. Stilwell and one son, David Stilwell.
Memorials may be made to the Nocona Church of Christ Youth Group or the Nocona Church of Christ 39er’s.
Birnam Royce "Sandy" Tompkins
Birnam Royce "Sandy" Tompkins, 62, of Montague, TX passed away on March 6, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Tompkins was born on April 26, 1940 in Montague, TX to A.G. and Mable Decia Mage Tompkins. He was a senior engineer for Raytheon in Garland and a member of the St. Williams Catholic Church in Montague.
Funeral services for Mr. Tompkins were held on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 10:00 a.. at St. William Catholic Church in Montague with Father Steven Berg officiating. Interment was held in Montague Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Darlene Nobile Tompkins, Montague, TX; three sons, Chris and Gregory Tompkins, both of Montague, TX, and Keith Tompkins, Bowie, TX; one sister, Joan Hill, Robert Lee, TX; seven grandchildren, Dylan, Tyler, Rachel, Melody and Jacob Tompkins and Brian and Chelsie Tompkins; and his mother, Mable Tompkins, Montague, TX.
Jerry Lynn Hamilton
Jerry Lynn Hamilton, 61, of Bowie, TX, passed away on March 4, 2003.
He was born March 27, 1941 in Wichita Falls, TX. He married Audra Byrom on June 27, 1964 at Wichita Falls, TX. He was a member of the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church in Grand Prairie, TX. Mr. Hamilton was an ordained minister and preached and taught at 4 Square Church in Irving, TX for 3 years and then at Evangel Temple Church in Irving for 1 year. Mr. Hamilton moved to Bowie 8 months ago from Grand Prairie where he had resided for twenty-three years. He was a retired truck driver.
Services for Mr. Hamilton were on Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 1:00 p.m at River of Life Church in Bowie with Rev. Alan Bates and Rev. Chris Dunn officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the services.
Interment was at 3:00 p.m. at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, TX.
Survivors include: his wife, Audra Hamilton of Bowie, TX; one daughter, Tamara Sartain of Colleyville, TX; three grandchildren, Brandon Sartain, Chelsea Sartain and Shelby Sartain, all of Colleyville, TX; one brother, Joe Don Hamilton of Wichita Falls, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Richard Acuna, Bob Dane, Ralph Musgrove, John Miers and Jack McBride. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Cosner, Doug Stovall, George Wesley Byrom, David Byrom, Johnny Byrom and David Holmes.
Guineth "Red" Roland
Mr. Guineth "Red" Roland, 75, of Post Oak, TX, passed away on March 8, 2003 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
He was born September 29, 1927 in Post Oak, TX. He was a retired truck foreman in the oil field. Mr. Roland was a member of the Baptist faith. He was also a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He worked for Geer Tank Trucks for 25 years until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Roland served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a longtime resident of Bowie, TX before moving to Post Oak, TX thirteen years ago.
Survivors include: two daughters, Tamra Roland of Bowie, TX and Robin Roland of Post Oak, TX; two grandchildren, Tayla Jo Roland and John Dakota Roland, both of Bowie, TX; four sisters, Inez Holman of Henrietta, TX, Juanita Moore, Oleta Vaught and Betty Roberts, all of Hurst, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mr. Roland were on Monday, March 10, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the service.
Pallbearers were Don Riddles, Billy Bell, Walter Frank, Ken Scott, Ronnie Ogle, Walter Frank and Warren Reynolds.
Vannie Lee Randolph
Vannie Lee Randolph, 93, of Midland, TX passed away on March 14, 2003.
Mrs. Randolph was born on October 25, 1909 in Walnut Springs, TX to Wade Hampton and Vannie Clifford Higgins Culpepper. She married Uriel A. Randolph on January 20, 1936. She was a homemaker and a member of the Carter Lake Road Church of Christ Church in Bowie. She taught thirty-seven years in Texas before retiring in 1975. Mrs. Randolph has served as President of several organizations; namely, Parent Teacher Association, Retired Teacher Association, Clay County Texas State Teachers Association, Texas Extension Homemakers Association., The Thursday Club of Bowie, Home Demonstration Clubs, and Auxiliary of the Chamber of Commerce. She was named the Woman of the Year for 1983 by the Bowie Chamber of Commerce.
Funeral services for Mrs. Randolph were held on Monday, March 17, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home Chapel in Bowie, Tx with David Hall officiating. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Virginia Lee Pollard, Midland, TX and Lafonda Ann Davis, Fairfax Station, VA; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Randolph was preceded in death by her husband, Uriel A. Randolph in 1984; one grandson, Kevin Dale Pollard in 1990; one sister, Rita Culpper Morse in 1981; and one brother, William Riley Culpepper in 1986.
Pallbearers included: David Clark, Rex Pollard, Jim Davis, A.E. Cozart, Jim Gatlin and Charles Blanton.
"Bobby" Wendell Robert McClellan
"Bobby" Wendell Robert McClellan, 59, of Nocona, TX passed away on March 17, 2003.
Mr. McClellan was born on July 12, 1943 in Bowie, TX to Wendell Robert McClellan and Faye Harris McClellan Goodspeed Arnold. He sold wholesale products.
Graveside services for Mr. McClellan were held on Thursday, March 20, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Keith Barbee officiating. Services were directed by Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
C.R. "Clint" Williamson
C.R. "Clint" Williamson, 79, a 24 year resident of Bowie, TX passed away on March 14, 2003 in Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Williamson was born on April 29, 1923 in Pine Log, Arkansas. He was a truck driver and a member of the Victory Baptist Church at Park Springs, TX. He was baptized at Farwell Baptist Church in Farwell, TX. He was also a member of the Reddy-McClellan VFW Post #8789 in Bowie. He grew up in Arkansas and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Funeral services for Mr. Williamson were held on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at 2:00 p.m at Carter Lake Baptist Church in Bowie, TX with Rev. Lamoin Champ and Rev. Roger Ashley officiating. Interment was held in Lindale Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Linda Ashley, Sudan, TX and Pam L. Evans, Smyer, TX; four sons, Charles Ray Williamson, Lubbock, TX, Harold D. Williamson, Artesia, NM, David Paul and Adam Wayne Williamson, both of Bowie, TX; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Edith Alexander, Texarkana, Arkansas. Mr. Williamson was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Sharrisa LaQuita Williamson in 2002; three brothers and one sister.
Pallbearers included: Cory Ashley, Brian Williamson, Sharrar Ashley, Allen Williamson, Wesley Williamson, and Howard Williamson. Honorary pallbearers included: Harold Clinton Williamson, Brad Evans, Scott Evans, Virgil Flowers, James Evans and Billy Green.
Ruth Ellen Wilson
Ruth Ellen Wilson, age 81 of Bowie, Texas, passed away on March 17, 2003 in Bowie.
Mrs. Wilson was born on September 18, 1921 in Eureka, CA. She was a homemaker and a life time resident of Eureka, CA before moving to Bowie 3 days ago. She married Norman W. Wilson on November 7, 1937 at Grants Pass, Oregon.
Survivors include: her husband, Norman W. Wilson of Bowie; one daughter, Mary J. Morales of Bowie; one son, Johnny R. Wilson of Eureka, CA; eight grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
