Willie Mae Salmon
Willie Mae Salmon, age 99, of Nocona, TX passed away October 22, 2003 in Nocona, TX.
Mrs. Salmon was born October 13, 1904 in Montague County, TX to Mary Ellen Turner and Charles Wesley Mills. She was a homemaker and a beauty operator. She was a member of the Methodist church.
Graveside services for Mrs. Salmon were held Saturday, October 25, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Nicky Anzalone officiating. Interment was at Eagle Point Cemetery under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter in law, Pat Salmon, Nocona, TX; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Quinn in 1927, and husband of her second marriage, Wilburn Salmon on April 9, 1971; her daughter, Zora Gilbert on December 6, 2001; two sons, Wilburn Salmon, Jr December 10, 1873 and Mike Salmon on May 5, 2000.
A.C. Houston
A.C. Houston, age 84, of Bowie, TX passed away October 23, 2003 at the Bowie Memorial Hospital in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Houston was born August 9, 1919 in Greenville, TX. He married Quida Rena Lambert on August 5, 1945 in Greenville, TX. He was a member of the Carter Lake Road Church of Christ in Bowie, TX where he was an active member for many years and served as a deacon, director of song services and teacher. He owned and operated the Super Save Market with Weldon George until 1970. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1995 after 18 years of service. He was a former member of president of Bowie Kiwanis Club. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a glider pilot participating in the D-Day Landing in Normandy and the invasion in north Holland during World War II.
Funeral services for Mr. Houston were held Sunday, October 26, 2003 at the Carter Lake Road Church of Christ in Bowie, TX with David Hall officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one son, Eddie Guy Houston, Plano, TX; one grandson, Liberty Raven Houston, Plano, TX; two step granddaughters, Sarah Amanda Houston and Dana Samantha Houston, San Diego, CA; one sister, Laverne Manly, Dallas, TX and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Quida Houston on February 23, 2003.
Pallbearers included: Bill Houston, Kim Hickerson, Carl Fitzgerald, Mike Roland, Bob George, and Gary Hachtell. Honorary Pallbearers include: Bob Holloway and Weldon George.

William Andrew “Billy” Hutson
William Andrew “Billy” Hutson, age 64, of Saint Jo, TX passed away October 24, 2003 in Saint Jo, TX.
Mr. Hutson was born April 20, 1939 in Saint Jo, TX to Andrew Benjamin Hutson and Ora (Gosdin) Hutson. He married Barbara Ann Adkins on August 28, 1965 in Gainesville, TX. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Saint Jo, TX. He was owner and operator of the “Bar H” Hutson Ranch. He also organized and facilitated the mountain bicycle park “ The Breaks at Bar H” for the last six years. Billy was a tenured member of the Saint Jo Dairy Queen Coffee Club and a member of the Saint Jo Chamber of Commerce.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Barbara Hutson, Saint Jo, TX; two daughters, Lia Ann King, Plano, TX and Tia Maria Hutson, Saint Jo, TX; one son, William Todd Hutson, Euless, TX; three sisters, Orene Eates, Fort Worth, TX, Earlene Boone, Austin, TX, and Betty Jo Ripple, College Station, TX; four grandchildren; and ten nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andew and Ora Hutson.
Pallbearers included: Jim Garwood, Warren Estes, David Earl Boone, Rodney Sergeant, Tony Boone, Andrew Boone and Randy Ripple.
Creta Huff
Creta Huff, age 63, of Bowie, TX passed away October 20, 2003 at her residence in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Huff was born September 20, 1940 in Frederick, OK. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Bowie, TX.
There will be a private family committal service. Services were under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her daughter, Tina Layton, Cushing, TX; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; one brother, Sonny Lunday, Post Oak, TX; two sisters, Norma Prewitt, Bowie, TX and Sandra Jay, Mansfield, TX; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by several loved ones.
Clyde N. Elkins
Clyde N. Elkins, age 88 of Olney, TX passed away November 12, 2003 at the Seven Oaks Nursing Center in Olney, TX.
Mr. Elkins was born, September 23, 1915 in Buffalo Springs, TX. He was a restaurant cook and a resident of Olney for forty-one years. He was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and of the Reddy-McClellan VFW Post #8789 in Bowie.
Graveside services for Mr. Elkins were held Friday, November 14, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Dave Maher officiating. Interment was at the Buffalo Springs Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one step daughter, Jean Hyde, Ontario, CA; three nieces, Betty Jo Staley and Ruby Stoddard, both of Bellevue, TX, and Hulan NcNallen, Post Oak, TX; one great niece, Nita Stennett, Pleasant Valley, TX; and two grand nephews, Tony Deweber, Post Oak, TX and Ricky Staley, Bellevue, TX.
Sue Helms
Sue Helms, age 79, of Bowie, TX passed away November 16, 2003 in the Bowie, Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Helms was born October 6, 1924. She was a longtime resident of Bowie and a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
There was no service for Mrs. Helms.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Curtis Sanders Helms, Cheyenne, WY, and Roy A. Helms, Azle, TX; six grandsons; four brothers, Dean Sanders, Vashti, TX; Hamil Sanders, Roy D. Sanders and Richard Sanders, all of Bowie, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter B. Helms in 1986.
Winfred T. “Penny” Loveall
Winifred T. “Penny” Loveall, age 92 of Bowie, TX passed away November 14, 2003 in the Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Loveall was born August 6, 1911 in Vashti, TX. He married Maye Wadsworth on December 31, 1932 in Waurika, OK. He was of the United Methodist faith and was the owner of Loveall Laundry in Bowie from 1947 until 1948 when he added steam and the business became Loveall’s Steam Laundry and he operated that business until his retirement in 1963. After his retirement he pursued his interest in cattle ranching until his retirement in 1999.
Graveside services for Mr. Loveall were held Monday, November 17, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Sarah Hardaway officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Marilyn Doughty, Bowie, TX; one granddaughter, Deanne Vines, Bowie, TX; one grandson, David Doughty, Pilot Point, TX; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth Vines, Bowie, TX, and Cole and Carson Doughty, both of Pilot Point, TX; three sisters, Helen Watkins, Wichita Falls, TX, and Maurine Nale and Florene Arami, both of Bowie, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
Leon Thompson
Leon Thompson, age 86, of Bowie, TX passed away November 13, 2003 in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Thompson was born February 19, 1917 in Denver, TX. He married Dorothy Lorene Long on November 15, 1936 in Waurika, OK. He was a longtime resident of Casa Grande, AZ and a resident of Bowie, TX for the past 34 years. He was an auto parts owner and after retiring was an avid fisherman. He attended New Hope Baptist Church in Bowie, TX.
Funeral services for Mr. Thompson were held Monday, November 17. 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the New Hope Baptist Church in Bowie, TX with Rev. Dwayne Lamberson officiating. Interment was at Smyrna Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Lorene Thompson, Bowie, TX; one son, Wayne Thompson, Wrangell, AK; one daughter, Judy Morgan, Bowie, TX; three grandchildren, Matthew Thompson, Wrangell, AK, Kathy Snider, Bowie, TX, and Michelle Burdick, Yukon, OK; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Luda Massie, Ft. Worth, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included: Herbert Reaves, Larry McDaniel, Monte Davis, Doyle Siegler, Loyal Killen and Ervin Lyon.

Jerry Lee Davis
Jerry Lee Davis, age 56, of Bowie, TX passed away December 11, 2003 in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Davis was born February 28, 1947 in Denton, TX to Jerry Zuber Englert. She married Lester Davis November 24, 1973 renewing their vows for their 30th anniversary on November 29, 2003. She was a wedding seamstress in Houston, a member of the Eastern Star, Young Homemakers of Bowie, and past president of the Parents Auxiliary for the Demolay of Texas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the U.M.W.
Funeral services for Mrs. Davis were held Saturday, December 13, 2003 at the First United Methodist Church in Bowie, TX with Rev. Sara Hardaway officiating. Interment was at the Newport Cemetery under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Lester Davis, Bowie, TX; children, Elizabeth “Beth” Goucher, Garland, TX, J.J. Aman, Grand Prairie, TX, Bill Aman, Forth Worth, TX; her mother, Jerry Englert, Bowie, TX; and five grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her father, John Bailey and her brother, Robert Bailey.
