Elizie Lee "L." Pittman
Mr. Elizie Lee "L." Pittman, age 86 of Sunset, Texas passed away on Tuesday, November 7 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Pittman was born on September 1, 1914 in Durant, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Sunset Assembly of God Church. He was a member of the Reddy-McClellan VFW Post #8789 in Bowie. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star for his heroic and mertious service. He married Laverene Blaylock on November 2, 1936 in Sunset.
Services were held on Thursday, November 9, 2000 at 2:30 PM at the First Baptist Church in Sunset with Rev. Charles Reed, the Rev. M.L. Milton and the Rev. Ernie Patterson officiating. Burial was held in Smyrna Cemetery in Sunset under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife Laverne Pittman of Sunset; three daughters, Elaine Kasner of Bridgeport and Elwanda Turlington and Eloise Willett of Sunset, Texas; two sons, Curtis Pittman of Sheridan, Texas and Keith Pittman of Bridgeport; 21 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, and one great great great grandson; one sister, Elsina Terry of Newport, Texas; five brothers, Tom Pittman of Gainesville, Willard Pittman and Eddie Pittman of Bowie, Texas, Richard Pittman of Lipan, Texas, and Delbert Pittman of Alvarado, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Shed and Belle Pittman; one brother, Jim Pittman; two sisters, Bernice Brown and Etta Bell; one grandchild, Curtis Brent Pittman; and one great grandchild, Zachry David Turlington.
Pallbearers were Louie Lowrance, Biff Huddleston, Dexter Agee, Gorden Wade, Benny Motley, Danny Russell, Kenneth Fowler and Emanuel Willett.

Leon B. Jones
Mr. Leon B. Jones, age 71 of Wichita Falls, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2000 at Hospice Center in Wichita Falls.
Mr. Jones was born on January 9, 1929 in Ryan, Oklahoma. He was a longtime resident of Bowie, Texas before moving to Wichita Falls, Texas 2 years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Mr. Jones was a retired owner of Oilfield Construction Company.
Services were held on Monday, November 13, 2000 at 2:00 PM at Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Chapel in Bowie with the Rev. Larry Cox officiating. Burial was held in Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include his two sons, Steven Leon Jones of Conroe, Texas and Richard Alan Jones of Ganada, Texas; one daughter, Cynthia Allen of Ganada, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; three sisters, Mattie Dorman and Gladys Thompson, both of Bowie, and Espea Wright of Waurika, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Marion Franklin and Dora Jane Jones; and three brothers, Agee Jones, Troy Jones and Babe Jones.
Pallbearers were Alan Jones, Marvin Jones, Kelly Tomlin, Roger Pettigrew, Lee Wayne Jones, and David Tomlin.

Eva May McKee
Mrs. Eva May McKee, age 83 of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2000 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Mrs. McKee was born on June 24, 1917 in Burleson, Texas. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Bowie, Texas. She married John Robert Epps in 1939 at Burleson, Texas. Mr. Epps passed away in 1945. She married William Thomas McKee in April 1947 in Denton, Texas. Mr. McKee passed away in 1989.
Services were held on Friday, November 10, 2000 at 2:30 PM at Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Chapel in Bowie with the Rev. Darius McKay officiating. Burial was held in Elmwood Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Christine Epps Thompson of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; two grandsons, Thomas Lee Thompson of Bryan, Texas and Robert Kern Thompson of Whitewright, Texas; five great grandchildren, Cody Ryan Thompson of Stevenville, Texas, Christy Ann Argumaniz, Amber Michele Lupas, Heather Daniele Thompson, all of Burleson, Texas, and Robert Ryan Thompson of Whitewright, Texas; one great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceeded in death by one daughter, Carolyn Epps.
Pallbearers were Ethan Thompson, Richard McKee, Robert Thompson, Dustin Argumaniz, Tobie Thompson, and Shane Adkins.

Bertha Russell
Bertha Russell, age 100, of Sunset, TX passed away November 20, 2003 at Bellmire Healthcare Facility in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Russell was born August 16, 1903 in Trenton, Jackson County, AL. She married E.P. Russell on January 5, 1918 in Alvord, TX. She had been a resident of Sunset, TX for the past 90 years. She was a homemaker and a rural mail carrier in Sunset, TX. She was the oldest of eighteen children and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Russell were held Sunday, November 23, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Sunset, TX with Danny Russell officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Clois Russell and Kenneth Russell, both of Sunset, TX; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; one sister, Ovella Weatherby, Graham, TX; one brother, Junior Hill, Hedley, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. P. Russell on April 14, 1984; and one daughter, Eva Lou Kuykendall in 2001.
Pallbearers included: Bryan Russell, Kevin Russell, Norman Caswell, Biff Huddleston, Robert Gehrels and Keith Pittman. Honorary pallbearers included: Louie Lowrance, Gerald Russell, Weldon Gipson, Dowell Brewer, Bill Caswell, David Caswell and Gary Caswell.

Donnie Ray Davis
Donnie Ray Davis, age 58, of Nocona, TX passed away November 24, 2003 in Denton County, Rd. 2449.
Mr. Davis was born June 13, 1945 in Montague County, TX to Hallie Catherine Acers and Blonnie Luther Davis.He married Glenda Sue Pendergraft on November 8, 1963 in Nocona, TX. He worked for Patterson Drilling UT Inc. and had been with them for five years, and worked in the oil field for forty-two years, starting when he was 16.
Funeral services for Mr. Davis were held Friday, November 28, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Moore officiating. Interment was at Starkey Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Glenda Sue Davis, Nocona, TX; three children, Terry Ray Davis, Bowie, TX, Tommy Don Davis, St. Martinville, LA and Jeffrey Scott Davis, Montague, TX; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Sue Duff, Sam Rayburn, TX and Jo Brewer, Arlington, TX; and one brother, Bill Davis, Sam Rayburn, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Blonnie and Hallie Davis, and one son, Jason Dean Davis in 1993

Vera Isabell Cox
Vera Isabell Cox, age 87, of Bowie, TX passed away November 24, 2003 at Bellmire Healthcare Facility in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Cox was born January 27, 1916 in Bowie, TX. she was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ faith.
Graveside services for Mrs. Cox were held November 25, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at Selma Cemetery in Bowie, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one son and his wife, Donnie and Cindy Cox, Azle, TX; one niece, Cora Mae Greenwood, Forestburg, TX; one great nephew, Roger Dale Rhyne, Alvin, TX and one great niece; Leresa Keating, Decatur, TX.

Dan Osborn Teague
Dan Osborn Teague, age 73, of Duncanville, TX passed away November 25, 2003 in the Charleton Methodist Hospital in Dallas, TX.
Mr. Teague was born November 22, 1930 in Nocona, TX to Lola Bertha Baker and Curtis Osburn Teague. He married Mary Margaret Merrill in 1950 in Nocona, TX. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was the owner of DOT Finishing Company.
Funeral services for Mr. Teague were held Saturday, November 29, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Bill McKay officiating. Interment was at the Long Branch Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Mary M. Teague, Duncanville, TX; his children, Curtis Teague, MN, Merrill Van Teague, Dallas, TX, and Dr. Lola Elena Sicking, NE; six grandchildren; two sisters, June Vannoy, Corsicana, TX and Elene Blackstone, Sherman, TX; and one brother, Elton, Nocona, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lola and Curtis Teague.
