Kenneth C. Ragan
Kenneth C. Ragan, 79, of Nocona, TX passed away on January 18, 2002 in Horizon Manor Nursing Home.
Mr. Ragan was born on August 18, 1922 to Ora Clell and Annie J. Evans Ragan in Hastings, OK. He married Melba Jo Brown on November 10, 1962 in Nocona. He ran a auto repair shop from his home. He was the Service Manager and Parts Manager for Ford Dealerships until 1982. He was a member of the Central Christian Church of Nocona. Mr. Ragan served in the Army during WWII, in the Tank Destroyer Battalion, landing on Utah Beach during the Normandy invasion. He was in five major conflicts and awarded the Purple Heart for an injury received during the Battle of the Bulge.
Funeral services for Mr. Ragan were held on Monday, January 21, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church with Rev. O. C. Harper and Rev. Scott Moore officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home of Nocona, TX.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Melba Ragan, Nocona, TX; two children, Kenneth Ragan, Lenexa, KS and Jaciella Davis, Mt. Pleasant; one sister, Nina Edward, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Ragan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Delbert, and his first wife, Virginia Lea Haddock, who died in 1958.
Edith Huddleston
Edith Huddleston, 86, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away on January 26, 2002 at Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Mrs. Huddleston was born on June 4, 1915 in Sunset, TX. She married Glen Boone on December 8, 1934 in Decatur, TX. He preceded her in death on October 7, 1973. She married P. J. Huddleston on October 9, 1980 in Ryan, OK and he preceded her in death on June 11, 1996. She was a member of the Carter Lake Road Church of Christ in Bowie, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Huddleston were held on January 29, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sunset Church of Christ with Loyd Morris officiating. Interment was held in Sunset Cemetery in Sunset, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home of Bowie, TX.
Surviving relatives include: two daughters, Mrs. Norma Hill, Wichita Falls, TX, and Mrs. Deborah Dail, Denton, TX; one son, Gary Boone, Fayetteville, NC; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers included: Mike Jackson, Benny Motley, Danny Russell, Whitney Hopkins, Marcus Hill and Gary Boone.
Ervin R. Bateman
Ervin R. Bateman, 86, of Bowie, TX passed away on January 24, 2002 at Bowie Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Bateman was born on January 19, 1916 in Attlee, OK. He married Hattie Mae Lanford in Montague, TX on March 6, 1937. Mr. Bateman was of the Baptist faith. He was a retired foreman for Wichita Construction Company.
Funeral services for Mr. Bateman were held on Saturday, January 26, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Chapel with Dr. Ronnie Lawson officiating. Interment was held in Elmwood Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, James Bateman, Hooks, TX and Bob Bateman, Irving, TX; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Jean Behrens, Alvarado, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Hattie Mae Bateman on November 15, 1994.
Pallbearers included: L. B. McDonald, Tom Brown, Aubrey Thomas, Frank Reyes, Charlie Boyett, and George Deagler. Honorary pallbearers were friends at the Dairy Queen.
Chirstine Carol Goodrum Case
Chirstine Carol Goodrum Case, 55, of Bowie, TX passed awy on January 24, 2002 at home.
Mrs. Case was born on December 24, 1946 in Wichita Falls, TX. She spent many years living in Greeley, CO and Chino Valley, AR. During her life, she was a daughter, wife, mother, and artist. She worked in the steel industry, in restaurants, was a team driver and solo driver with over four million miles across America. She died with faith in her heart and loved everyone she met. She is at peace within the arms of God.
Memorial services for Mrs. Case were held on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Chapel with Rev. Scott Fowler officiating.
Surviving relatives include: two sons, Robert Jackson, Phoenix, AR, and Todd Jackson, Lake Dallas, TX; her mother, Edna Mae Hartley, Bowie, TX; six siblings, Hank Solano, Pat Chandler and Mary Case, all of Bowie, TX; Clifton Goodrum, Pilot Point, TX, Marie Hocutt, Ponder, TX and Lilian Justice, Butler, FL; and four children, Trent, Garrett, Nicholas and Brook.
Bessie Delene (Thompson) Riney
Bessie Delene (Thompson) Riney, age 90 of Sanger, Texas passed away on January 13, 2002 in Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton.
Ms. Riney was born on March 23, 1911 in Bonita, Montague County, Texas to Albert Sidney and Willie Edath Lawler Thompson.
Services for Mr. Riney were held on January 16, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel in Saint Jo, Texas with Rev. Andy Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain Park Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Survivors include: daughter, Betty Lee Harris of Sanger, Texas; two sons, Harvey Eugene Yarbrough of Oklahoma City, OK and Milton Thomas Yarbrough of Ada, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Esta Lee Gidlow of Sanger, Texas, Joyce Whitehead of Duncan, OK and Bernice Gower of Montana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Sidney and Willie Edath (Lawler) Thompson; and five brothers, Newell, Wilbur, Orville, Elbert and Albert Thompson, Jr.
Randy Marmaduke
Randy Marmaduke, 48, of Nocona, TX passed away on January 19, 2002 in a Nocona nursing home.
Mr. Marmaduke was born on October 7, 1953 in Nocona, TX to Herman and Geneva Admire Marmaduke. He was a carpenter and a member of Valley View Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Marmaduke were held on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel with Buddy Lee officiating. Interment was held in Nocona Cemetery.
Surviving relatives include: his father, Herman Marmaduke, Nocona, TX; one son, Brian Swearingin, Nocona, TX; one daughter, Brandi Clark, Wichita Falls, TX; and one brother, Lindell Marmaduke, Nocona, TX.
Pallbearers included: Frank Glass, Jimmy Harris, Elton Burleson, Sam Howard, David Howard and Mike Eidson.
Opal Thelma Andrews
Opal Thelma Andrews, age 97 of Delphos, Ohio passed away on January 14, 2002 in Van Wert, Ohio.
Mrs. Andrews was born on August 8, 1904 in Texas to Luther Martin Staley, Sr. and Artemisa Branham. She taught school in Mineral Wells from 1961-1967 and at Franklin Elementary School from 1967-1977. She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Delphos, Ohio and of the Order of Eastern Star #93 in Duncan, Oklahoma. She married Robert L. Andrews of September 26, 1927.
Graveside services for Mrs. Andrews were held on Monday, January 21, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ringgold Cemetery with Buddy Lee officiating. Burial was under the direction of Jerry Woods Funeral Home.
Survivors include: one son, Robert L. Andrews of Austin, Texas; one daughter, Shirley A. Hoehn of Ottoville, Ohio; one sister, Anne Scott of Irving, Texas; one brother, Joe A. Staley of Nocona, Texas; eight grandchildren, 11 great greandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Andrews in Sept. 1960; one sister, Maurine Smith; one brother, L.M. Staley, Jr. and one great granddaughter, Amanda Leigh Etzkorn.
Ellen Mae Schenk
Ellen Mae Schenk, age 88, of Bowie, TX passed away November 7, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
Graveside Services were held Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Lone Star Cemetery in Poolville, TX, under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schenk as born October 15, 1916 in Bowie, TX to Charlie and Gertrude (Rodden) Roach. She married Max Schenk on April 22, 1958 in Lawton, OK. She enjoyed quilting and playing all sorts of games. Her greatest love was her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Jeanette Little and husband, Jimmie of Bowie, TX; grandchildren, Kelly Pannell and husband, Joe of Tullahoma, TN; Charla Townsend of Abilene, TX; Terry Russell of Glen Rose, TX; Kevin Russell and wife, Judy, Abilene, TX; four great-grandchildren; four great great- grandchildren; step grandchildren, Jeannine Yowell and husband Vbo of Bowie, TX; Rebecca Ogrodnik and husband, Shawn of Denton, TX; Coy Dee Little of Bowie; two sisters, Opal Lemig of Lebanon, OR; Edna Van Cleave, Winnsboro; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Max Schenk; daughter, June Russell; one granddaughter; one grandson, three sisters and one brother.
Honorary Pallbearers included: Jerry Whatley, Bobby Whatley, Leland Whatley, Bobby Sanders, Jimmy Leatherwood, Donald Leming, Ronald Leming and Tommy Leming.
