Roma Lea Hill
Roma Lea Hill, 89, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at Coastal Palms Nursing Center in Portland, TX.
She was born October 14, 1915 in Mallard, TX to Tom and Annie Richardson. Roma graduated from Prairie Valley High School in 1933. On October 11, 1935 she married Ronald Gerald Hill at the parsonage in Valley View, TX. They lived in Nocona, TX most of their lives. She worked as a clerk at Nocona City Gas and then Lone Star Gas Company until her retirement. In 1984 she and her husband moved to Portland, TX to be near their daughter and family. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and doing ceramics.
A memorial service was on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Scott Morris Funeral Home in Nocona. She was buried beside her husband in the Nocona Cemetery. Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the services.
Survivors include: one daughter, Brenda and husband Griffin VanZandt of Portland, TX; one son, Ronnie & wife Joan Hill of Robert Lee, TX; two sisters, Fannie Lou Sims and Kate Sturdevant; two granddaughters, Sheryl & husband Kevin Sigler and Cynthia & husband Ted Turner; two grandsons, Ron & wife Leslie Hill, Jr. and Eric Hill; great grandchildren, Darren Sutton, Clare Turner and Emily Turner.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Ronald in 1990; three sisters, Dora Oxford, Rose McLaughlin and Lizzie Murphy; one brother, Bill Richardson.
Bertha Lee Brown
Mrs. Bertha Lee Brown, 93, of Waxahachie, TX, passed away on December 3, 2004 at Baylor Medical Center in Waxahachie, TX.
She was born June 16, 1911 in Wise County, TX. On February 16, 1931, she married Leighton J. Brown in Montague County, TX. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist faith. She was a farmer’s daughter who enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and yard work.
Funeral services were at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in the Pat Boze Memorial Chapel in Waxahachie, TX with Pastor David Brown officiating. Fry Funeral Home of Bowie assisted with the services.
Interment followed at 2:30 p.m. in Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie, TX.
Pallbearers were Dusty Autrey, Heath Autrey, Leighton Autrey, Jeff Bell, Kyle Butler and Harry Green.
Survivors include: one brother, Henry Mercer of Boyce, TX; two sisters, Dorothy Rippey and Lois Autrey of Waxahachie, TX; two sisters-in-law, Alice Mercer of Boyce, TX and Helen Mercer of Lancaster, TX; and nine nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Leighton; and two brothers, Ervin Mercer and E.L. Mercer.
Clarence H. “Pete” Dunn
Clarence H. "Pete" Dunn, 73, of Saint Jo died Thursday morning, December 2, 2004 in Nocona.
Born August 9,1931 in Montague County, he was raised and attended school in the Dye Mound and Saint Jo areas. He was the son of the late Clarence Harve and Lizzie Oleta Young Dunn.
Pete entered the Army in1950 and was discharged in 1954. There he completed high school and then completed two years college. He has worked in many different fields including custom farming/ranching, oil field work, and working with the production of wild flowers. His favorite occupation was working with the Thompson Foundation raising and caring for wild flowers. This foundation was visited by numerous people, nationwide. Pete enjoyed hosting tours there. He had worked there some 20 years.
Pete also enjoyed playing cards (especially with his group of friends in Muenster) and having coffee daily with the Saint Jo round table group.
Survivors include: wife Betty Gay Dunn of the home, two sons, Clarence Harley and Gerald Loyd Dunn of Saint Jo, a daughter Tina Marie Laws of Saint Jo, six Grandchildren and three Great-Grandchildren. He is also survived by a great number of friends both in Muenster and Saint Jo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Bobbie and Cletus Dunn and a sister, Mary Dunn.
The funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the McCoy Funeral Home in Saint Jo with C.E. Cole officiating. Burial was at Dye Mound Cemetery.
Pallbearers are: David and Doug Gaston, Wendell Thompson, Don and Bob Sheen and Paul Sampson. Honorary pallbearers are: Dick Barnett, Jerral Don Goff, August Felderhoff, The Dairy Queen round table bunch and the Muenster card playing friends.
Jon Paul Homer
Jon Paul Homer, age 43, of San Antonio, TX passed away November 11, 2004 in San Antonio, TX.
Mr. Homer was born August 26, 1961. He was a car salesman and a member of Eagle’s Nest Christian Fellowship. He served in the Boy Scouts for three years.
Graveside services for Mr. Homer were held November 21, 2004 in the Montague Cemetery with Reverend Kenneth Coleman officiating.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Martha Homer, San Antonio, TX; his parents, Hershel and Janelle Homer, San Antonio, TX; his sister, Lynn and her husband, Travis Mixon, Jr, Yokum, TX; one niece, Christina Mixon, Yokum TX; one nephew, Mark Mixon, Yokum, TX; and aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
Jalene Channel Beemer
Jalene Channel Beemer, 56, of Dallas, TX, passed away November 28, 2004.
She was born December 16, 1947 in Iowa and grew up in Fairfield, Iowa. She moved to Dallas in 1975. Mrs. Beemer was a paralegal for a law firm specializing in medical malpractice for many years and was a designer of equine websites. She was a member of the American Paint Horse Assoc., which she was an avid horse lover and owner for a number of years.
A memorial services was at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel.
Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.
Survivors include: her husband, Bill Beemer; one daughter, Kim Stewart of Aubrey, TX; one son, Randy Stewart of Houston, TX; stepchildren, Charmie Beemer and Jason Beemer, both of Bowie, TX; Sherri Hightower of Euless, TX and Shellie Smith of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, August Noblie, Malcolm Smith, Jason Lee Beemer and Travis Stewart.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in memory of Jalene Beemer.
Geraldine Marie Wall
Geraldine Marie Wall (Gerri Wall), 62, passed away December 3, 2004 in Nocona, TX.
She was born August 26, 1942 in Springfield, MA to John Eugene Beauvias and Aretha Philina Royce Beauvias. On March 1, 1995 she married Arvel Clinton “Clint” Wall. She was a homehealth worker and a childcare provider. She was active in the Nocona Church of Christ and taught Bible class to the children. She grew up in Northfield Vermont, on Bull Run Road, and that was very special to her.
Funeral services were Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of Christ in Nocona with Dale Scott officiating. Scott Morris Funeral Home directed the service.
Interment followed at the Nocona Cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, Clint Wall of Nocona, TX; four children, Kimberly Diane & husband John Morris of Nocona, TX, John Kendon & Dwayla Carr of Panorama City, CA, Robert “Bobby” Ivan & Kim Carr of Saginaw, TX and Warren Ray Bain of Kansas City, KS; three step children, Kim Morris of Bowie, TX, Robert “Red” & Ginger Wall of Nocona, TX and Randy Wall of Dallas, TX; one sister, Pauline Ida & husband Les Covey of Northfield, Vermont; two brothers, Arthur Eugene “Sonny” & wife Janet Beauvias of FL, and Louis Henry & wife Gini Beauvias of West Springfield, MA; her mother-in-law, Marie Wall of Nocona, TX; nine grandchildren; six step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and one step great grandchild; and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, one sister, Dorothy Mae Gelzinis; and one brother, John Eugene Beauvias, Jr. “Jackie”.
Memorials may be made to the Nocona Church of Christ Youth Group or to the Hospice of Rural Texas in Bowie.
Juda Marie Stansell
Juda Marie Stansell, age 82, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away December 1, 2004 in Clay County, TX.
Mrs. Stansell was born December 11, 1921 in Denton County, TX to Judson Augusta and Mary Josie Reid Kerr. She married James D. “Buster” Stansell and had worked for Paul and Lela’s Cafe as a cook and also for the nursing homes in Nocona as a cook. She was a cattle rancher and a member of the Northside Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Nocona, TX.
Funeral services for Mrs. Stansell were held Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Long Branch Cemetery with Rev. Bill Davis officiating, under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her children, Judson Perry, Gainesville, TX; and Gayle Dunn and Glen Perry, both of Wichita Falls, TX; ten grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Stansell on October 16, 1977; and a grandson James Allen Dunn.
