Walter Wayne Bellows
Walter Wayne Bellows, age 65, of Bowie, TX passed away at the Bellmire Healthcare Facility in Bowie, TX.
Mr. Bellows was born March 23, 1939 in Love County near Overbrook, OK. He was a resident of Bowie for the last twenty-five years. He was a Draftsman for Corp. of Engineers. He served in the U.S. Army in Korea DMZ after the Korean Conflict.
Graveside services for Mr. Bellows were held Monday, August 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Briar Creek Cemetery with Rev. Mike Henson officiating. Services were under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: two brothers, Elbert Charles Bellows, Jr., Parkville, MA and Windell Earl Bellows, Bowie, TX; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Mary Bellows.
Walter Lee Robertson
Walter Lee Robertson, age 87, of Nocona, TX passed away August 17, 2004 in the Nocona General Hospital in Nocona, TX.
Mr. Robertson was born November 24, 1916 in Nocona, TX to Henry Oscar and Mary Inez Underwood Robertson. He married Syble Burnice Hanson. He worked for Mapco in Fort Worth, as a Tool Maker, and in air conditioning. He was a member of the Woodman of the World, National Rifle Society, Montague Genealogical Society and Jean’s Men’s Bible Class in Nocona.
Funeral services for Mr. Robertson were held Thursday, August 19, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Scott-Morris Funeral Home with Buddy Lee officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Syble Robertson, Nocona, TX; his children, Patricia Gayle Livingston, Fort Worth, TX, Jimmie Charles Robertson, Forestburg, TX and Ronnie Lee Robertson, Nocona, TX; four sisters, Wilma Louise Robertson, Wichita Falls, TX, Lois McNelly, Wichita Falls, TX, Opal Fay Brown, Nocona, TX and Sylvia Sue Lasseter, Iowa Park, TX; one brother, Floyd Joe Robertson, Bowie, TX; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Robertson; and one brother, R.C. Robertson.
Casket Bearers were: Kelvin Robertson, Michael Robertson, Kenneth Partridge, David Livingston, Shawn Robertson, Don Russell and Eddie Robertson.
Rilda Pauline Rhoades
Rilda Pauline Rhoades, age 81, a life long resident of Bowie, TX passed away August 21, 2004 at the Hospice of Wichita Falls in Wichita Falls, TX.
Mrs. Rhoades was born April 5, 1923 in Bowie, TX to Jessie and Appie (Gee) Posey. She married Clyde Rhoades on April 14, 1941. She graduated from Stoneburg High School and was employed at Haggar Slack Factory for over twenty years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rhoades were held Monday, August 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.R. Hopson officiating. Interment was at Oak Hill Cemetery in Stoneburg, TX under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Clyde Rhoades, Bowie, TX; one son, Clyde Melton Rhoades, Bowie, TX; one daughther, Shirley Duffle, Wichita Falls, TX; three grandchildren, Johnny Scott Duffle and James Steve Duffle, both of Wichita Falls, TX and Patricia Duffle, Waco, TX; two great -grandchildren, Leighton and Chandler Duffle, both of Wichita Falls, TX; and numerous neices and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Appie Posey; fourteen brothers and sisters; and one daughter, Patricia Rhoades.

Harlan Douglas Howard
Harlan Douglas Howard, age 67, of Nocona, TX passed away August 21, 2004 in Nocona, TX.
Mr. Howard was born April. 17, 1937 in Bonita, TX to Walter Gray and Lou Verna Horner Howard. He married Annie Lou Anderson on October 25, 1958. He worked thirty-three years for the Texas State Highway Department, and after he retired he spent his time repairing lawnmowers. If you couldn’t find him at home, all you had to do was check the local coffee spots and you would find him behind the daily crossword puzzle. He always had a good story to tell if you had a moment.
Funeral services for Mr. Howard were held Monday, August 23, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Darius McKay and Darius McKay Jr. officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Ann Howard, Nocona, TX; children, Jim and wife Lamesia Howard, Gainesville, TX, Jerry Howard, Nocona, TX and Judy Ott, Nocona, TX; his sister, Ruth and her husband, Darius McKay, Bonita, TX; one brother, Don and his wife, Jean Howard, Azle, TX; and six grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Frank Collier, Charlie Moore, Elton Teague, Jerry Painter, David Stout, and Roy Brawner. The Honorary were George Larison, Jack Confer, Ben Hill, Steve McNatt, Hollis Gaydon, Bill Minor, Joe Don Weaver and Ray White.

Cordie Simpson (Nanny)
Cordie Simpson (Nanny), age 98, of Nocona, TX passed away July 28, 2004 in Nocona, TX.
Mrs. Simpson was born February 16, 1906 to RK and Willie Mae McCarter Gilbert. She married William Robert Simpson “Bill” June 5, 1926. She worked as a child care provider for many children in Nocona, she was once employed by the Justin Purse Factory, the B & E Cafe, and at the Central Christian Church for twenty-six years in the nursery. Rumor has it she made the best pies in the county.
Funeral services for Mrs. Simpson were held Friday, July 30, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Nocona, TX with Rev. Lamoin Champ officiating. Interment was at the Nocona Cemetery under the direction of Scott Morris Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her children, Dephenia Meier, Wichita Falls, TX; Jimmy Simpson, Lewisville, TX and Robert Simpson, Nocona, TX; five grandchildren, Kay Cook, Carol Hale, Lloyd Simpson, Randy Simpson and Terry Simpson; eleven great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Robert Simpson in 1987; a son, Billy in 1995; and a grandson, William Lee Bowman in 1989.
Pallbearers included: Kenneth Nelson, Pete Langford, Hulen Scott, Brett Simpson, Jimmy Hale and Cal Bowman.
Tommy Ryan
Tommy Ryan, age 62, of Bowie, TX passed away July 20, 2004 in Wise County.
Mr. Ryan was born December 15, 1941 in Shreveport, LA. He married Kerry Mincks August 30, 2000 in Arkansas. He served in the Army and the Navy. He was a Truck driver/mechanic.
Graveside services for Mr. Ryan were held Saturday, July 24, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bellevue Cemetery with Rev. Jamie Reed officiating, under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Kerry Ryan, Bowie, TX; four sons, Tommy Ryan and his wife, Julie, Lubbock, TX, Stewart Lee Ryan, Decatur, TX, Frank Ryan and his wife, Linda, Tyler, TX and Ryan Hennessee and his wife, Jennifer, Conway, AR; two daughters, Annette McDowell, Lubbock, TX, Rebekah Poracky and her husband Jason, Jacksonville, NC; one sister, Gail McWilliams and her husband, Walter, Wichita Falls, TX; and seven grandchildren.

Pearlie Maxine Lemons, age 78, of Fritch, TX passed away July 15, 2004 in Lubbock, TX.
Mrs. Lemons was born June 23, 1926 in Ardmore to Vernon and Pearl Romine. She married Skeet Lemons and was a homemaker.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lemons was held Monday, July 19, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at the Fry Funeral Chapel.
Interment was at the Montague Cemetery under the direction of Fry Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Judy Renee Allen and her husband Don, Fritch, TX; one sister, Pat Allen, Bowie, TX; one brother, Ray Romine, Montague, TX; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Pearl Romine; her husband, Skeet Lemons; two brothers, Ronnie and Glen Romine; one sister, Petie Graham; and one niece, Susie Romine.
Janette Staats
Janette Staats, age 63, of Bowie, TX passed away July 20, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Staats was born February 17, 1941 in Vashti, TX to Ellis and Alma Riddle Alexander. She worked as a seamstress for the Howard-Wolf company for many years. She loved collecting cookbooks and cooking for family gatherings.
Funeral services for Mrs. Staats were held Friday, July 23, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the Drawing Room of The White Family Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Newton officiating. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of The White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her son, James Robet Staats and his wife, Teresa, Bowie, TX; one daughter, Melissa June Nichols and her husband, Eric, Tyler, TX; one sister, Naomi Jo Christenson, Bowie, TX; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Cowan Staats on January 8, 1976.
