Juanelle Huddleston
Juanelle Huddleston, age 86, of Bowie, TX passed away July 30, 2004 in Bowie,TX.
Mrs. Huddleston was born December 5, 1917 to Glenn and Dora Adams Hill. She and her husband Floyd owned and operated Huddleston Ramsdale General Merchants for some fifty years in Sunset, TX. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sunset and a devoted wife and mother to her children.
Funeral services for Mrs. Huddleston were held Monday, August 2, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Sunset, TX with Reverends Charles Reed and Tim Neely officiating. Interment was at the Sunset Cemetery under the direction of The White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her children, Nelcine Roland and her husband, Bob, Questa, NM, Neoma Bruton, Fencelake NM, Biff Huddleston and his wife, Retta, Sunset, TX and Gay Mustin and her husband, Eric, Dallas, TX; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Leona Marie Haverkamp.
Leona Marie Haverkamp Luke, age 81, of Muenster, TX passed away July 27, 2004 in Horizon Manor Nursing Home in Nocona, TX.
Mrs. Haverkamp was born August 17, 1922 in Muenster, TX to John and Elizabeth Haverkamp. She married Anthony Luke February 12, 1946 in Muenster, TX. They opened a new business in Muenster, The Variety Store, which they operated in various locations until 1988 when it became Ben Franklin’s. The family continued to operate The Ben Franklin Store.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Muenster, TX with Rev. Eugene Luke, O.S.B. and Rev. John Ohner, O.S.A.
Interment was at Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Mary King, Conway, AR; three sons, Frank Luke, Halletsville, TX and Melvin Luke, Muenster, TX and George Luke, Carrolton, TX; ten grandchildren; and three sisters, Evelyn Hesse, Dennison, TX, Rosabel Zimmerer, Farmers Branch, TX and Hellen Cundiff, Lindsay, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Luke on July 24, 2002; an infant child; three sisters, Bertha Strum, Bernice Kupper, and Cecilia Cooper; two brothers, Leo and Fred Haverkamp.
Pallbearers included: Jesse Luke, Josh Luke, Ryan Luke, Ed Haverkamp and Jarrod King.
Axel Eather Thygesen
Axel Eather Thygesen, 86, of Nocona, TX, passed away in Nocona General Hospital on August 1, 2004.
He was born April 3, 1918 in Sterling, CO to Theodore Thygesen and Marie Nelson. Mr. Thygesen was married to Elaine Alice Rogers Thygesen. He worked as the maintenance man for the Housing, until his health no longer permitted it. Mr. Thygesen was a carpenter and enjoyed working with woods. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Survivors include: his wife, Elaine Alice Thygesen of Nocona, TX; four children, Sandra Raymond of Barre, VT, Axel Thygesen of Nocona, TX, Jack Thygesen of Leeds, TX and William Thygesen of Gainesville, TX; one brother, Ejnar Thygesen; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and fifteen great-great grandchildren.

Lois Benton
Lois Benton, age 77, of Bowie, TX passed away July 30, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Benton was born August 2, 1926 to Henry and Mabel Tulp. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Bowie, TX and a devoted wife and mother.
Graveside services for Mrs. Benton were held Monday, August, 2, 2004 at Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of The White Family Funeral Home.
Surviving relatives include: her husband, Floyd Benton, Bowie, TX; her children, Shelley L. Conine and her husband, Al, Jacksonville, FL, Kenneth Benton and his wife, Toni, Cheyenne, WY, Kevin Benton and his wife, Cindy, Bowie, TX, Sandra Schell, Medford, OR, Keith Benton and his wife, Beverly, Kingman, AZ and Sheryl Girouard and her husband, Norman, East Lyme, CT; sixteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Rural Texas.
Gracie Estelle Woods
Gracie Estelle Woods, 76, of Nocona, TX, passed away on July 29, 2004 in a nursing home in Nocona.
She was born August 2, 1927 in Saint Jo, TX to George William Woods and Matilda Margaret Hodge Woods. She worked at the Nocona Nursing Home for many years, until her health would no longer permit it.
Services for Ms. Woods were Sunday, August 1, 2004 at 3:00 p.m. at Bible Way Mission Church in Nocona with Rev. Harold Tucker officiating. Scott-Morris Funeral Home directed the service. Interment followed in Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo.
Casket bearers were Jimmy Edwards, Billy Woods, Luther Miller, Brad Denison, Charles Hair and Duby Hair.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sheri Stephenson of Nocona, TX; four sisters, Sara Pitman of Bowie, TX, Edith Downs of Kamay, TX, Ann Langston of Whitesboro, TX and Marion Lee of Canyon, TX; six brothers, Alton Woods of Holliday, TX, J.T. Woods of Canyon, TX, Clinton Woods and J.C. Woods, both of Saint Jo, TX, Winton Woods of Nocona, TX and Eddie Woods of Euless, TX; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Woods in 1971 and a daughter, Susan Woods in 2001.
Myrtie Palmer
Myrtie Palmer, 89, a forty-four year resident of Bowie, TX, passed away July 30, 2004 at Harris Methodist Hospital, Azle, TX.
She was born April 9, 1915 in Wood County, TX. On December 19, 1941 she married Jim Palmer. They were married for thirty-one years. Mrs. Palmer was a seamstress/homemaker and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Bowie.
Services for Mrs. Palmer were Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Bowie with Rev. Mike Sanders officiating. Fry Funeral Home directed the service.
Interment followed in Elmwood Cemetery, Bowie, TX.
Pallbearers were Mark Hilton, Scott Byas, Daniel Hankins, Levi Beasley, Phillip Palmer and Hunter Palmer.
Survivors include: two sons, James Palmer and his wife Mozelle of Azle, TX and Charles Palmer of Bowie, TX; two daughters, Barbara Ann Bennett of Dawsonville, GA and Linda Palmer of Bowie, TX; three sisters, Edna Townlin of Gilmer,TX, Florence Woouly of Marshall, TX, Charlene Cravey of Round Rock, TX; eleven grandchildren; and twenty-nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Palmer and several brothers and sisters.
Gene Crim
Gene Crim, age 84, of Bowie, TX passed away July 29, 2004 in Bowie, TX.
Mrs. Crim was born September 23, 1919 in Quitman, TX to Claude and Hattie Horton Brown. Gene and her husband owned and operated Crim Tile Company in Lubbock, TX for twenty-five years. She was a member of the First United Church, Friends of the Library and taught Sunday school for twenty-nine years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Crim were held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Sara Hardaway officiating, under the direction of White Family Funeral Home.
Graveside services for Mrs. Crim were held Sunday, August 1, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, in Meneola, TX.
Surviving relatives include: one daughter, Betty Zak Perry, and her husband, Charles, Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, John Andrew Zak and his wife, Summar, Dallas, TX and Elizabeth Noel Snodgrass and her husband, Greg, Dallas, TX, two great grandchildren, Jared Andrew Zak and Sheradan Murrow, both of Dallas, TX; one sister, Charlene Cunningham, Bowie, TX; two step daughters, Betty Larue, Dallas, TX and Judy Plunkett, San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Bowie or Canyon Creek Presbyterian Church of Richardson, TX.
