Elvice Brooks Barr
Elvice Brooks Barr, 77, of Bothell, Wash., passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2002, due to complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Burial of ashes will take place Saturday, Dec. 7, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Blooming Grove. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Barry United Methodist Church. A memorial service was also held Nov. 26 in Bothell, Wash. at Bothell United Methodist Church.
She was born March 19, 1925 in Barry and resided there until 1956, when she moved to the Seattle, Wash. area. She was a very kind-hearted person, loved by all who knew her. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend and will be warmly remembered. She loved people, nature, travel and gardening. After 25 years as a full-time mom and homemaker, she was employed by the University of Washington Alumni Association until her retirement in 1987.
She was preceded in death by her infant son, James Randall Barr; parents, Lalia Ann and John "Jack" Brooks; and her children's father, James Doyle Barr.
Survivors include her son, Gary Barr of Wimberley; daughters, Gail Riccetti and husband Ron of Edmonds, Wash. and Cheryl Kellogg and husband Keith of Bothell, Wash.; grandchildren, Michael Hoban of Bothell, Wash. and Suzi Farris and husband Clint of Bothell, Wash.; brother, the Rev. Dr. Ray Brooks and wife Mickey of Henderson; sisters, Tommye Hall and husband Earl of Haltom City and Vida Hughes of Dallas; extended family, Mike Butler of Wimberley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the kind and loving staffs of Franciscan Health Center in Bothell and Evergreen Hospice.
Remembrances are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association, 919 N Michigan Ave., Suite 1000, Chicago, IL 60611.

James H. 'Doc' Edgar
James H. "Doc" Edgar, 89, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Mark Luera officiating. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bob White Jr., Dan Arnold, Jim Arnold, Gerry Harris, Kim Wyatt and Gary Brown.
He was born Aug. 6, 1913 in Richland to Dr. James H. Edgar and Sally Mae Hill. He was raised in Richland and graduated from Richland High School. He received a bachelor of science in chemistry from East Texas State University in Commerce. He married Anna Lee Rainey of Commerce Dec. 14, 1938. He earned a master of science in chemistry studying at ETSU, University of Texas, Montana State University and Oregon State University. He served as a flight instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He served at Navarro Junior College as director and chairman of the science and mathematics division for over 27 years. He won numerous awards and was honored 12 years after his retirement with the dedication and naming of the James H. Edgar Lecture Hall in the Frank Neal Drane Science Building at Navarro College. He served on the supervisory committee of Central Texas Teachers Credit Union, the board of directors of Corsicana National Bank and as an officer of the bank's holding company.
He was a devout Christian and church life played an important role in his life and that of his family. He was a deacon and elder at First Christian Church of Corsicana. He was a community leader as well as serving in civic organizations including the Optimist Club and YMCA.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father; wife, Ann; and sister, June Foster.
Survivors include his sisters, Joy Arnold of Plano and Zane Frost of Corsicana; brother-in-law, Bill Rainey and wife Dorothy of Marble Falls; daughters, Jan Moore and husband Z. Buford Moore of Corsicana and Sally Cooper and husband Dr. Cliff Cooper of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Sally Wise of Toledo, Ohio, Janna Massarelli of Corsicana, and Jenna and James Cooper of Portland, Ore.; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church building fund.

Genoveva F. Chavarria
Genoveva F. Chavarria, 73, of Mussey Township, Mich. passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at her residence.
Funeral services were 10 a.m. today with the Rev. Gerry Frawley, pastor of St. Nicholas Catholic Church of Capac, Mich., officiating. Interment followed at Capac Cemetery.
A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Corsicana with Dr. Robert Young, pastor, officiating.
She was born June 11, 1929 in Texas to Phillip and Carmen Jiminez Herrera. She married Pete Chavarria April 16, 1966 in Capac, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Andy and Willie Herrera; sisters, Connie Herrera and Betty Gonzales; and husband, Milo Frisinger.
Survivors include her husband of 36 years, Pete Chavarria; daughter, Carmen Chavarria of Yspilanti, Mich.; son, Pete Chavarria Jr. of Capac, Mich.; granddaughter, Felicia; grandson, Connor; sisters, Jessie Guzman of Lansing, Mich., Irene Aldama of Corsicana, Elena Garcia of Sylvan Lake, Mich., Carmen Zarate of Knoxville, Tenn. and Juanita Vasquez of Ortonville, Mich.; brother, Joe Herrera of Fraser, Mich.; many nieces and nephews including Robert Aldama, David Aldama, Rose Putman and Cindy Garcia of Corsicana and Liz Tallant of Purdon; and cousins.

Joey Robert 'Bubba' Sims
Joey Robert "Bubba" Sims, 35, of Bullard, passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002 at his residence.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Boren-Conner Funeral Homes in Bullard.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Oak Grove Bible Church with the Rev. Tom Terry officiating. Interment will follow at Bullard Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Rick Burian, Gary Treadwell, Randy Oden, Leslee Watkins, Todd Worthen, Jason Key, Mac Key and Coy Collins.
Mr. Sims was born on Sept. 27, 1967 in Paris, Texas. He was a Bullard High School graduate, a lifelong resident of East Texas and a member of Oak Grove Bible Church. Mr. Sims served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, including service in the Gulf War.
Survivors include parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sims of Mixon; wife, Natalie Sims of Bullard; son, Dustin Robert Sims of Bullard; daughter, Melissa Dawn Sims of Bullard; brothers, Samuel Wayne Sims and wife Stacy of Bullard and Micheal "Rod" Sims and wife Lisa of Pattonville; brothers-in-law, Markus and Marius Anlauf; and many aunts including Billie Sherrell and husband James of Corsicana, uncles, nephews, nieces and close friends.

F.L. 'Effie' McClure
F.L. "Effie" McClure, 83, of Mertens, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002 at Hillsboro Nursing Home.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Richland Cemetery in Mertens with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating.
Mr. McClure was born March 28, 1919 in Lone Oak in Navarro County to Robert and Sally (McGee) McClure. He lived in Navarro County until 1952 when he moved to Galveston. In 1976, he moved to Mertens and opened up Mac's Small Engines. He married Mabel Davis in May 1942 and was a member of Frost United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel McClure on Feb. 18, 1995; daughter, Sarah Bernice Stein on Dec. 29, 1984; six sisters and five brothers.
Survivors include his son, Steve McClure of Mertens; grandchildren, Tammy Stein, Sally Stein, William Stein, Shelly McClure and Rhonda Watson; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests friends make donations to their favorite charity.

Nellma Ann Paschal
Nellma Ann Paschal, 68, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002 in Corsicana.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Darin Wood officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy D. Coker, Ray Brown, Paul Jones, Phil Paschal, David Hanish and Kevin Farmer.
Mrs. Paschal was born Sept. 29, 1933 in Kerens.
Survivors include her husband, Dan Paschal of Corsicana; sons, Allan Colvin Paschal and Anthony Shane Paschal, both of Corsicana; granddaughters, Kaycee Renee Paschal and Dusty Nicole Paschal, both of Corsicana; sister, Faye Howell of Kerens; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Billie D. Hughes
Billie D. Hughes, 81, of Kirvin passed away Monday, May 27, 2002 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia.
Services were 3 p.m. May 29 at First Baptist Church in Kirvin with the Rev. Tom Young and the Rev. Louis Jones officiating. Interment followed at Woodland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Will McCrary, Warren Carter, David Hogan, Larry Johnson, Bobby Hughes, Jack Lawrence Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was born Jan. 6, 1921 in Corsicana. He had been a truck driver.
Survivors include his daughter, Teresa Williams of Teague; sons, Billy Wayne Hughes and wife Nancy of Lasalle, Tommy Ray "Bubba" Williams and wife Susanna of Emhouse, and Glenn Hughes of Denton; brothers, Harris Glynn Hughes of Kirvin and Jack Talmage Hughes of Kirvin; sister, Johnnie Rae Johnson of Teague; and 10 grandchildren.

Doris Wille
Doris Wille, 88, of Corsicana passed away Monday, June 3, 2002 at Heritage Oaks West.
Graveside services were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Prairie Point Cemetery with Jimmy Glenn officiating.
Mrs. Wille was born Dec. 3, 1913 in Kerens.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Wille; three sisters and one brother.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dee and Roy Turner of Marthasville, Mo.; brother, William Curtis Sims of Houston; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Lamon Donald Long
Lamon Donald Long of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.
Services are pending with Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
