Martha N. Snyder
Martha N. Snyder, 77, of Purdon passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2001 in Corsicana.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel with Dr. Robert Young officiating. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery.
Mrs. Snyder was born July 22, 1923 in Marlin. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Norrod; and brother, Monroe Speck.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband, Roy Dale Snyder of Purdon; sons, James Dale Snyder of Waxahachie and Michael Edward Snyder and wife Susan of Sherman; daughter, Jeanette Dell Britain of Grand Prairie; granddaughters, Tamara Wilhite and husband David of Arlington and Amy Elizabeth Snyder of Sherman; and grandsons, David Andrew Snyder of Sherman and Kyle Britain of Grand Prairie.
Memorials may be made to Cen-tex Association for Retarded Children, 100 Industrial Drive, Suite A&B, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.

Anthony William Barnes
Anthony William Barnes, 19, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2001 in Dallas.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday with cremation to follow.
He was born Oct. 13, 1981 in Miami, Fla.
Survivors include his fiancee, Tiffany LeGrand of Corsicana; son, Corbin Barnes of Corsicana; mother and stepfather, Ronda and Kenny Stutts of Corsicana; father and stepmother, Larry and Sandra Barnes of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Michael Barnes of Corsicana; sister, Samantha Barnes of Corsicana; stepsisters, Whitney Stutts and Hannah Stutts, both of Fairfield; stepbrother, Dalton Barnes of Athens; grandparents, Thelma and Frank Hardy of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; fiancee's parents, John and Ronda Summers of Dallas; and fiancee's grandparents, Georgie and Deloris LeGrand of Corsicana.

Otto Sardis Shelley
Otto Sardis Shelley, 89, of Fairfield passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in Houston.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Capps Memorial Chapel with Dr. Barry Landrum of Houston officiating. Interment will follow at Fairfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brad McCleary, Chris Husband, John Shelley, Aaron Shelley, Wesley Shelley and Bryan Gilpin Jr.
Mr. Shelley was born Sept. 10, 1911 in Donie to John Thomas and Betsy Ezell Shelley. He was a retired rancher and major in the U.S. Army from 1937 to 1957. He was a member of the VFW in Fairfield and Round Prairie Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Beaver Shelley; great-grandson, Caleb Paul Husband; three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Shelley is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Bette and Bob McCleary of Carrollton; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Judy Shelley of Houston; grandchildren and their spouses, Brad and Amy McCleary of Richardson, John and Karen Shelley of Fort Payne, Ala., Summer and Chris Husband and Aaron Shelley, all of Houston; great-grandchild, John Thomas Shelley IV; and sister, Ella Gilpin of Fairfield.

William Freeman "Bill' Ponder
William Freeman "Bill" Ponder, 84, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with the Rev. B.F. Risinger officiating and assisted by the Rev. Buford Stockard and Brother Bill Honea. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Mr. Ponder was born April 5, 1917 in Frost to William F. and Nannie Albritton Ponder Sr. He grew up on a farm, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a pumper in the oil fields for 34 years, and retired from Crown Central Oil Company in 1984. He was a member of First Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and only brother, David A. Ponder.
Mr. Ponder is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ava Nell Bilberry Ponder of Corsicana; sisters, Gay Wright of Corsicana, Elizabeth Froese of Dallas, Catherin Stockard of Palestine, Norine Ponder of Dallas and Robbie Elmore of Frost; and sister-in-law, Ann Ponder of Dallas.

Judith Elaine Kirven
Judith Elaine Kirven, 47, of Corsicana, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2001 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
A wake service will be held 8 p.m. Friday at Ross and Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral Services will be 2:30 p.m. Satuday at Ross and Johnson Mortuary Chapel with the Rev G. Skinner officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Gregory Skinner Jr., Laron Skinner, Melvin Freeman, Jerome Freeny, Arron Borens, Lee Skinner, Cedric Freeman, Andy Linscome, Willie Freeny and Robert Skinner.
Ms. Kirven was born Jan. 21, 1954 in Houston.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Kirven and her father that reared her, L.B. Skinner.
She is survived by daughers and sons-in-law, Alice M. Thomas (Derrick) and Stephanie J. Kirven (Jason) all of Corsicana; son, Marshall J. Kirven of Dallas; grandchildren, Porshay, Charles Ray, Cieara, Jason, Arthur, Daldrick and Marshae; mother that reared her, Laura L. Whitehead of Dallas; sisters, Rosalind Kirven, Bobbie Brackens, Teri Allen and Vandora Skinner, all of Dallas; brothers, Bobby Skinner, L.B. Skinner, Robert Skinner and Eugene Skinner, all of Dallas; aunts, Gussie Freeman and ElaMae Johnson; seven nieces, 12 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Erma Baker Walton
Erma Baker Walton, 84, of Corsicana, passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, 2001at Baylor Medical Center of Dallas.
A wake service will be held 7 p.m. Friday at Ross and Johnson Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel AME Church with the Rev. Billy Freeman officiating. Burial will be at Woodland Cemetery.
Mrs. Walton was born Feb. 18, 1917 in Groesbeck. She was a member of the Bethel AME Church. She received her formal education in the Richland School District, G.W. Jackson High School and Jarvis Christian College. She is a retired school teacher of 38 years in the Corsicana Independent School District.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Hassie Baker and husband, Searcy Walton.
She is survived by sisters, Everletta Cananaugh, Thelma Walker and Prentice Thronton; sister-in-law, Freddie Baker; brother-in-law, Curtis Cavanaugh and a host of nieces and nephews.

Margaret Edna Whitley
Margaret Edna Whitley, 78, of North Richland Hills passed away Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2001 at All Saints Episcopal Hospital in Fort Worth.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel in Blooming Grove with Stringer Jenkins officiating. Interment will follow at Dresden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Sutherland, Walter Matous, Mark Dunaway, Kim Maxwell, Joe Whitley and Don McCory.
Mrs. Whitley was born Jan. 4, 1923 at Black Hills in Navarro County to James Heath Blake Jr. and Clara Mae Knight Blake. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James and Shirley Whitley of Haltom City; daughter, Orpha King of Alexander, La.; grandchildren, Michael Whitley of Fort Worth, Emily Copeland of Pollack, La., Sharon Doherty of Enid, Okla., Dub King of Leanders, La., Dan King of Flat Woods, La.; and brother, Tillman Blake of Corsicana; sisters, Tottie Arnold of Purdon, Bell Carroll of Corsicana, Ethel Slater of Dawson, Dora Hollingsworth of Benbrook, Patty Roe of Dallas and Winkie Stephens of Dallas.

Ruby Alice Abbott
Ruby Alice Abbott, 90, of Groesbeck passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at Groesbeck Hospital.
Services are pending.
Mrs. Abbott was born May 30, 1911 in Navarro County to Walter and Ella Bryson Minze. She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, George Abbott of Lewisville; daughters, Shirley McRae of Donie and Hazel Laymance of Waco; brothers, Alton Minze of Amarillo and Gwyndle Minze of Corsicana; 25 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Thaddene W. Lee
Thaddene W. Lee, 71, of Rice passed away Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Chatfield with the Rev. Moses Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Chatfield Cemetery.
Mrs. Lee was born May 24, 1930 in Hester Grove.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy E. Lee Sr.; son, William Arthur Lee; and daughter, Birdie M. Hereford.
Mrs. Lee is survived by her sons, the Rev. Howard Lee of Dallas and Jimmy E. Lee of Rice; daughters, Joyce Tatum of Mesquite and Radene Lee of Dallas; sisters, Lola Mae Dunn and Maxie Hudspeth; brother, Paul Williams Sr.; sisters-in-law, Birdie Louise Davis of Dallas and Rose Mackey of Hobbs, N.M.; seven grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
