Herschell Baker
Herschell Baker, 78, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001 in Corsicana.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. tonday at Corley Funeral Chapel with Dr. Gary W. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Clovis Baker, Darrin Baker, Jack Baker, Michael Baker, James Glasgow and Thomas Glasgow. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Colbert, Bobby Sparks II and Bobby Sparks Sr.
Mr. Baker was a lifelong resident of Navarro County. He was born in Purdon on Nov. 19, 1922. He volunteerted for the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. Mr. Baker served as a Norton bomb site mechanic in England and France. During the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, Mr. Baker was rushed to the front lines where he served as an infantryman until the end of the war. After the war, he re-enlisted in the Army and served his country with distinction for 30 years obtaining the rank of first sergeant in the Army Engineers. First Sgt. Baker was the recipient of the WWII Victory Medal, Korean War Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Wounded twice in battle, First Sgt. Baker was awarded two Purple Hearts and the Bronze Medal for valor. A devoted father and husband, Herschell and his wife Yoko were married at the American Embassy in Tokyo in 1956 and had a wonderful marriage of 46 years. He fought valiantly for his life, but in the end passed away dignity and grace.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Effie Rutherford; son, Steven J. Baker; and sister, Alice Niedringhaus.
Mr. Baker is survived by his wife, Yoko Baker of Corsicana; sons, Clovis of Frost and Michael of Corsicana; daughter, Deborah of Corsicana; brothers, Otto Baker of Corsicana, David Rutherford of Corsicana, John Rutherford of Kerens and James Rutherford of Dallas; sisters, Joyce Disotell of Athens and Effie Juanity Glasgow of Corsicana; grandchildren, Jason, Paula, Kyna, Colton and Erica; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Crystal; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerald O. McClung, 89, of Corsicana passed away Sunday, April 1, 2001 in Corsicana.
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Edward A. Baggett officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. McClung was born April 12, 1911 in Corsicana. He was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Park McClung, and brother, John Edmond McClung Jr.
Mr. McClung is survived by a son, John E. McClung III of Tulsa, Okla.; sister, Estelle Beckham of Waco; grandson, John Christopher McClung of Dallas; granddaughtger, Carin McClung Palmer of Salem, Oregon; great-grandson, Jacob Hunter McClung of Salem, Oregon; great-granddaughter, Jordan Brooke Palmer of Salem, Oregon; nephew, Steven Beckham of Dallas; two nieces, Nancy Holster of College Station and Susan Wells of Dallas; and Pat Lowry McClung of Tulsa, Okla.

Oren Bruce Brown
Oren Bruce Brown, 83, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, March 31, 2001 in Corsicana.
A vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Corley Funeral Chapel with Deacon Lewis Palos officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Sonny Hayes, Eddie Jones, Tommy Lane, Gowan Murphy, Frank Tarr and Billy J. Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be John Maxwell, Fred Richards and John Richards.
Mr. Brown passed away at home, surrounded by his family. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army for seven years. He retired from Norgas in 1979 after many years of service.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd Brown and Travis Brown; daughter, Scarlett Ann Brown.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lucille Budai Brown of Corsicana; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and James Nelson of Flower Mound; brother, Woodrow Brown of Corsicana; sister, Lucille Wynne of Arkansas; granddaughters and grandson-in-law, Jamie Nelson of Lewisville and Laurie and Michael Reibenstein of Lewisiville; great-granddaughters, Amanda Reibenstein and Cera Reibenstein, both of Lewisville; great-grandson, Samuel Sanchez of Lewisville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Grace Bobkoff, 92, passed away peacefully in her sleep April 3, 2001 at Heritage Oaks West Nursing Home in Corsicana.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Hebrew Cemetery with Rabbi Shaina Bacharach officiating.
She was born Sept. 3, 1908 in Norwich, Conn.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Burney Bobkoff.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Fran Bobkoff of Dallas; sister, Sylvia Goldman of Corsicana; niece, Rena Spiedberg of Huntington Woods Mich.; nephews, Sherwin Goldman and Will Goldman of Dallas; great nieces, Lynn Goldman of Austin and Emily Spiedberg of Huntington Woods, Mich. and great nephews, Daniel Spiedberg of Huntington Woods, Mich., Michael Goldman, Allen Bobkoff and Michael Bobkoff, all of Dallas.

Otto Sardis Shelley, 89, of Fairfield passed away Monday, April 2, 2001 in Houston.

Mr. Shelley was born Sept. 10, 1911 in Donie to John Thomas and Betsy Ezell Shelley. He was a retired rancher and major in the U.S. Army from 1937 to 1957. He was a member of the VFW in Fairfield and Round Prairie Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elva Beaver Shelley; great-grandson, Caleb Paul Husband; three brothers and two sisters.

Frank J. Pannell, 73, of Roane passed away Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Mr. Pannell was born Aug. 1, 1928 in Dallas to Birdie Pannell and Evella McDonald Pannell. He served in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Fran Pannell of Roane; sons, Frank Pannell Jr. of Houston, Johnny Pannell of Nevada, Texas, Joey Pannell of Conroe, and David Ferguson of Corsicana; daughters, Barbara Kay Bailey of Anna, Sandra Andrews of Austin, Susie Boultinghouse of Lampasas; sisters, Niva Murphy of Alvarado and Ruby Brakefield of Potosi, Mo.; 19 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

Gary Wolf, 63, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, July 27, 2002 in Dallas.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Corley Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at DFW National Cemetery with full military honors.
Mr. Wolf was born May 3, 1939. He was a manager at Anchor Glass and a member of VFW Post 3366 in Corsicana. He was also a Mason. He retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years service. He was a master sergeant. and he served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by parents Lloyd and Edna Wolf and brother Gordon Wolf.
Mr. Wolf is survived by wife Ik H. Wolf of Corsicana; son Shaun Wolf of Plano; daughter Andrea Wolf of Olathe, Kan.; brothers Elmer Wolf of Grayville, Harold Wolf of Samonauk, Ill., John Wolf of Bonnie, Ill., David Wolf of Smithton, Ill., Lloyd D. Wolf of Carmi, Ill. and Joseph Wolf of Centerville, Ill.; and sister Phyllis Blackford of Salem, Ill.

Vivian Duke Watson
Vivian Duke Watson, 67, of Malone passed away Sunday, April 6, 2003, at a Hillsboro hospital.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Cottonwood Cemetery near Hubbard with the Rev. Jason Coker officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Mrs. Watson was born April 7, 1935, in the Mountain Springs community in Hill County. She was a graduate of Bynum High School and had lived in Malone for 25 years. She had owned and operated an air conditioning business with her husband and also worked as a nutritionist at the Hubbard hospital. She was a member of the Military Wives Auxiliary and loved sewing, crocheting and jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She was a Baptist.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Watson on Nov. 14, 2002; great-grandson, Jayson Moore in 1996; and grandson, Dakota Shane Woods in 2000.
Survivors include her daughters, Kitty Elaine Hollifield and husband Harold "Toad" of Dawson, Teresa Lenart of Bellmead, and Donnice Sorrell and husband Dickie of Malone; brother, Thomas Jefferson Duke Jr. of West; sister, Odessa Schronk and husband Ralph of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren including two grandsons in the U.S. Marine Corps, James Ray Piel serving in Iraq and Jeffrey Dean Foss serving as an advanced artillery trainer at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; and five great-grandchildren.

Katherine Marie Standard Kidd
Katherine Marie Standard Kidd, born September 9, 1923. She went to be with the Lord April 6, 2003. She is survived by her sons Gary R. Standard, Robert A. Standard, Daniel P. Standard, brother Floyd D. Hawkins, sister Bettye Ann Gilbert, eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son David Glen Standard and sister Shirley Beasley. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Her faith in God was recognized by all who met her. Her dedication to her family was admired. Her small steps in life were huge strides of a hero to those around her.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd., Dallas. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10, at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
