Walter Carter Pierce
Walter Carter Pierce, 77, of Roane passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Navarro Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Corley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Nathan Andrews officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Alan Pierce, Troy Lynn Pierce, Ricky Pierce, Bob Johnson, John Hall and James Hall.
Carter was born March 4, 1926, in Powell. He graduated from Kerens High School in 1944. He was a veteran of World War II. He spent much of his adult life in Arlington, Texas, then returned to Roane in 1987. Carter was known for his generosity to anyone in need. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a true friend to all, and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Billye Pierce of Roane; daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Tom Hall of Arlington; grandsons, John Hall and James Hall, both of Arlington; brothers, John Pierce and Troy Pierce, both of Ennis, and Roy Pierce of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and loved ones.

Corine Stevenson Wiley
Corine Stevenson Wiley, 98, of Malakoff passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at East Texas Medical Center in Athens.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Malakoff.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, 402 Walker St., Malakoff, with the Rev. Robert C. Hodge officiating. Interment will follow at Steen Cemetery in Malakoff.
Pallbearers will be Larry Graves, Lester Brown, Derryl Jackson, Johnny Davis, Homer Trimble and Robert Reed. Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Bailey, Jerry Barron and Bonnie Ray Green.
Mrs. Wiley was born Aug. 15, 1904, in Malakoff. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Malakoff until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Rosie Stevenson; husband, Bernie Wiley; and grandson, Reginald Wiley.
Survivors include her son, Enos Wiley (Fayrene), and daughter, Lela Mae Davis, all of Malakoff; 11 grandchildren, Dolphus "Jabo" Smith (Valeria), and Regina Williams, all of Dallas, Jackie Roberts (I.V.) of Houston, Shelia Wiley, Arletha Davis, Linda Johnson (Joe), Barbara Givens, and Darlene Brown, all of Malakoff, Ladell Burks of Trinidad, Ray Charles Davis of Houston, and Sammy Davis of Dallas; 25 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; four step grandsons; two step granddaughters; one nephew, Adolphus Nolan (Ola Mae) of Corsicana; two great-nephews, Robert Nolan of Corsicana and Adolphus Nolan Jr. of Dallas; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Addie Mae Hall
Addie Mae Hall, 91, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Health Care & Rehab of Corsicana. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Bethel AME Church, 105 N. Fourth St., with the Rev. M. Cooper officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements by Ross and Johnson Mortuary.

Gladys Donald
Gladys Donald, 92, of Lake Charles, La., died at 2:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2003, in a local care facility.
Mrs. Donald was a native of Wayne County, Miss., and lived in Corsicana for 40 years before moving back to Lake Charles four years ago. She was a member of The Apostolic Temple. She was a Pink Lady Volunteer at Navarro Regional Hospital.
She is survived by one son, James T. Donald of Corsicana; two daughters Ouida Hodges of Moss Bluff, La., and Willodene Atkinson of Austin; three grandsons, Dr. Gary Atkinson and wife Nancy of Freehold, N.J., Tom Hodges and wife Joann of San Antonio, and Tom Donald of Houston; four granddaughters, Sherry Griffen and Marsha Bankens, both of Lake Charles, La., Sondra Atkinson and Rhonda Denton, both of Dallas; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. T.F. Donald.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, at the Apostolic Temple. Revs. Ricky and M.D. Trece will officiate. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery in Ragley, La., under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin today from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m., in the funeral home. Visitation will resume at the church on Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

Margaret Faye Hickson
Margaret Faye Hickson, 75, of Corsicana, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9, 2003, in Corsicana.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Teel officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Pat Kindle, Jay Sewell, Clif Tramel, Jack Coggins, Randy Cummins and Bryan Collier.
Mrs. Hickson was born on June 3, 1928, in Corsicana. She was a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother who had a tremendous zest for life. A special thank you goes to Colleen Wommack and Joyce Brown of Caring Companions at Home.
She was preceded in death by husband Dewey Hickson and parents Bill and Thelma Andrews.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Rick and Michele Hickson of Corsicana, daughter Debbie Funderburk of Corsicana, grandsons Blake Funderburk and Kevin Funderburk of Corsicana and James Moreland of Dalton, Ga., granddaughters Amy Funderburk and Meg Funderburk of Corsicana, brother and sister-in-law W.L. and Ruby Andrews of Corsicana.

Dorothy Jones
Dorothy Jones, 86, of Corsicana passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 in Corsicana.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at San Patricio Memorial Gardens in Taft.
Mrs. Jones was born Jan. 22, 1916 in Canyon City, Colo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ferrell Jones.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Bobby Bishop of Mathis; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth F. and Jean Jones of Corsicana; sister, Marylin Slavik of Albuquerque, N.M.; brother, Billy Burr of Houston; sister-in-law, Pearl Jones of Robstown; granddaughter and husband, Kim and Steve Pakebush of Calallan; grandsons, Michael Jones of Valley Mills and Richard Jones of Fort Worth; great-granddaughters, Melissa Pakebush of Calallan and Michaela Jones of Valley Mills; and great-grandsons, Maze Pakebush of Calallan, and Hunter Jones and Ryan Jones, both of Valley Mills.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Bonny Lee Hager
Bonny Lee Hager, 48, of Rice passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2002 in Rice.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Corley Funeral Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Corley Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bobby Jock officiating. Interment will follow at Rice Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Hager, Chris Kocurek, Gary Smith, Jr., Shane Brinlee, Michael Dudley and John Golden.
Mrs. Hager was born Oct. 25, 1953 in Sacramento, Calif. She was an assembler in the sound industry.
She was preceded in death by mother Barbara Smith.
Mrs. Hager is survived by husband James Hager of Rice; daughter Tonya Roberts and husband Corbin of Corsicana; son Jason Hager and wife Lana of Corsicana; father J.W. Smith of Waxahachie; step-mother Carolyn Bills of Waxahachie; brother Gary Smith and wife Debbie of Gun Barrell City; sisters Valerie Woodley and Wendy Finsted, both of Dallas, and Becky Brinlee of Rice; granddaughters Krista Roberts Kaitlyn Roberts and Lauren Hager, all of Corsicana; grandson Conner Roberts of Corsicana; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and relatives.

Nell McKinney Martin
Nell McKinney Martin, 90, of San Antonio passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2002 in San Antonio due to a short illness.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana with the Rev. B.F. Risinger Jr. officiating.
Mrs. Martin was born Aug. 31, 1911 in Smithville. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Corsicana. She had been active in the Kinsloe House, and was an avid golfer and bridge player.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Jack McKinney in 1986.
Survivors include her daughters, Suzette McKinney of Whispering Oaks, Wilson County, and Diana Turn of Plano; grandchildren, Catherine Golden and husband Dale, and Craig Turn and wife Cheryl; and great-grandchildren, Emberlyn Golden and Peyton Turn.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.

Meritt A. Drane
Meritt A. Drane, 88, passed away Monday, Aug. 5, 2002.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 408 Park Avenue, Dallas, with Dr. Bruce Buchanan officiating. Family will receive friends in the church parlor following the memorial service.
Mr. Drane was born July 31, 1914 in Corsicana. He graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 1937, earning a degree in electrical engineering. On June 7, 1941 he married the former Elizabeth Ann Mitchell in Corsicana.
He began his career with Texas Power and Light in its Dallas office where he loyally served for 24 years. He retired in 1969. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Dallas where he served as an elder and selflessly gave of his time, talents and resources. He was a 33rd degree mason and member of the Hella Temple Shrine.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Elizabeth Ann Drane; the family of his nephew Cyrus Mitchell Johnston; niece Mary Johnston Northern, great-nieces Haddon Johnston Lewis and Cameron Johnston and great-nephew C. Mitchell Johnston Jr.; wife and children of his nephew Erwin Jordan Jr.; and the family of his nephew John L. King Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Presbyterian Village, 660 Ann Arbor, Dallas, Texas 75216; and First Presbyterian Church Foundation.
