Geneva Mae Madden
Geneva Mae Madden, 82, of Irving passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 in Irving.
Services will be 4 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Chapel with her son-in-law the Rev. Roland Wright officiating and her granddaughter Francesca playing the violin. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of her loving family.
Mrs. Madden was born Aug. 10, 1919 in Corsicana and had lived in Irving since 1953.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Lee Charles Madden.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Hazel and Roland Wright of Irving; granddaughters, Janet Butman of Irving and Tina Hutchings of Cleburne; great-granddaughters, Dana and Francesca Riedle of Irving and Jordan and Tristin Hutchings of Cleburne; sisters, Opal Warren of Wortham and Evelyn Harrison of Fort Worth; brother-in-law, Otis Ellis of Purdon; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Pearlie E. Hall
Pearlie E. Hall, 80, of Corsicana passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 in Corsicana.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2002 at Woodland Cemetery with the Rev. L.L. Polk officiating. Interment will follow.
Viewing will be Monday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Sunday, August 4, 2002 at Second Mission Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hall was born July 24, 1922 in Corsicana. She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was founding member of the Abyssinian Auxiliary, a church clerk, deaconess and of the Jackson Ex-Students Association. Her service to the community included the United Way, the Navarro County Action Committee and the Navarro County Committee on Aging.
Survivors are a son, Kenneth W. Hall of Corsicana; devoted friend, Tennie C. Chimney of Corsicana; goddaughter, Bedissa Lovell of Corsicana; and others.

Dewey Harold Beal
Dewey Harold Beal, 72, of Corsicana passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Steve Orbison and Russell Bankes officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dick Aldama, Jonathan Beal, Michael Burleson, Rex DeFord, Glen Gannon and John Brown.
Mr. Beal was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Avinger to Joseph and Ruby Beal. He graduated from Avinger High School then attended Radio School of Broadcasting in Dallas. He has worked for KAND Radio for 50 years, and was in the radio business for 53 years. Mr. Beal reported Corsicana rainfall for the Fort Worth weather bureau for over 25 years. He was a member of Westhill Church of Christ for many years and was a member of North Beaton Church of Christ at the time of his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Lilah Beal of Corsicana; sons and daughters-in-law, Donny and Karen Beal and David and Connie Beal, all of Corsicana; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Chuck Nance of Birmingham, Ala.; grandchildren, Jonathan Beal of Denton, Lindsay Beal of Corsicana, Michael Burleson of Mesquite, Hogan Nance of Birmingham, Ala.; and sisters, Pauline Stewart of Glendon and Mildred Aldeison of Lewisville.

Janell McBroom Nokes, 85, of Conroe and formerly of Retreat, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at Hearthstone Living Center in Conroe.

Mrs. Nokes was born March 9, 1917 in Corsicana to James Abe McBroom and Annie Mae Vester McBroom. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cathy Nokes; granddaughter, Stacy Rodgers and husband Darren; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Elaine Rodgers and James Patrick Rodgers, all of Spring.

Melba Putman
Melba Putman, 73, of Navarro Mills passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2002 at her residence.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Griffin-Roughton Chapel with Brother Marvin Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Dresden Cemetery.

Mrs. Putman was born Feb. 14, 1929 in Purdon to Sherman Richard Crenshaw and Mary Ava Milton Crenshaw. She was a member of Blooming Grove United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Putman; and parents.
Survivors include her sons, John M. Putman and wife Rose of Corsicana, and Sherman L. Putman and Mary Sharp of Navarro Mills; very special aunt, Ruby Lynch of Corsicana; grandchildren, Stephanie and Chad Adams of Lewisville, Joshua Putman of College Station, Tiffany Putman of Ennis, and B.C. Putman, Lisa Randolph and Leslie Randolph, all of Corsicana; and great-grandchildren, Blake Adams and Emilie Adams, both of Corsicana.

Floyd Reynold 'Reyn' Bell
Floyd Reynold "Reyn" Bell, 88, of Eureka passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at First Pentecostal Church of God with Dr. Gary Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Eureka Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Paul Fountain, Jimmy Dale Bell, Melvin Breedlove, David Lee Bell, Brad Arnett and Jeffery Stieg. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen Bell, Pete Coker, Carroll Sigman, R.C. Ashley, James Hutchins and V.F. "Tutor" Bell.
Mr. Bell was born July 22, 1914 in Eureka to Walter Sydney "Doc" Bell and Mary Ella Humphries Bell. He worked for Ennis Furniture for many years. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Bell of Eureka, whom he married Aug. 29, 1936; son, James Floyd Bell and wife Joyce of Corsicana; daughter, Mary Lou Stieg and husband Harold of Waco; niece, Ozell Hutchins of Eureka; nephew, V.F. "Tutor" Bell of Eureka; six grandchildren, three step grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and eight step great-grandchildren.

Gertrude Maxine Fuqua, 74, of Hubbard passed away Thursday, July 25, 2002 in a Waco hospital.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Wade Funeral Home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Wade Funeral Chapel with Tim Miles officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard.
Pallbearers will be Allan Gordon, Eddie Lee Fuqua, Jack Fuqua, Lee Fuqua, David Fuqua and Larry McFarland.
Mrs. Fuqua was born Dec. 13, 1927 in New Hampshire. She had lived in Hubbard for the past 23 years after previously living in the Dallas and Lancaster area.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie J. Fuqua of Hubbard; sons, Allan Gordon of Tennessee, Eddie Lee Fuqua of Amarillo, Jack Fuqua of Frost, Lee Fuqua of Connecticut and David Fuqua of Hubbard; daughter, Brenda DeLamar of Waco; brother, Paul MacKay of New Hampshire; sister, Bea Shields of Dallas; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A.B. "Bodie" Thornton Jr., 68, of Gun Barrel City and formerly of the Blackfoot community in Anderson County, passed away Sunday, July 21, 2002 in Canton.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bailey and Foster Funeral Home, 207 S. Magnolia, Palestine.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City with the Revs. Byron Jones, B.F. Risinger Jr. and Lynn Stroud officiating. Masonic graveside services, led by the Tyre Lodge No. 198, will follow at 2 p.m. at Rock Church Cemetery in Anderson County.
Pallbearers will be Buck Otis, Roger Otis, Chuck Thornton, James Magee, A.Z. Thornton and Toby Thornton.
Mr. Thornton was born Aug. 13, 1933 in Groesbeck to Avery Bolton Thornton Sr. and Lydia Ann Dugan Thornton. He was employed at Navarro Junior College in the bookstore. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gun Barrel City and the Masonic Tyre Lodge No. 198 AF&AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, A.Z. "Red" Thornton; and sisters, Erma Lee Magee and Leta Otis.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Thornton of Gun Barrel City; son, Lynn Thornton of Grapeland; grandsons, Brian Thornton and Brandon Thornton; great-grandchild, Colby Thornton; and brother, Jack Thornton of Tennessee Colony.
