E.J. "Cotton" Whitener, 75, of Corsicana passed away Monday, July 28, 2003, in Corsicana.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday at Hamilton-Beeman Cemetery with the Rev. James Williams officiating.
Mr. Whitener was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Dawson.
Survivors include his sons, Eddy Whitener of Corsicana, Coty Whitener of Friendswood and David Whitener of Fenton, Mich.; daughters, Sheri Bayes of Corsicana and Teri Carver of Corsicana; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters, Minta Crocker of Corsicana, Dorothy Hall of Grand Rapids, Minn., and Doris Mahoney of Corsicana.

W.A. 'Bill' Morris
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Corley Chapel for W.A. "Bill" Morris who passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Corley Funeral Home.
Mr. Morris was born Jan. 29, 1914, in Corsicana. His parents were W.F. and Gennie Moreland Morris. He married Lois Rogers Dec. 24, 1935. His parents and wife preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by sisters Ruby Spaith and Lucille Thorpe and brothers Jess Morris, Cliff Morris, Ben Morris, M.R. Morris and Lewie Morris.
He is survived by daughters, Billie Carroll and husband Rudy of Corsicana and Donna Penney and husband Gary of Lorena. He is also survived by three grandsons, Bob Carroll and wife Tammy of Corsicana, Matt Penney and wife Theresa of Waco, and Andy Penney and wife Regina of Lubbock. A great-grandson, Cody Carroll, of Corsicana also survives him.
Mr. Morris was employed by Southern Pacific Railroad for 10 years and was a meat cutter for Slate's Grocery for many years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church all his life.
Pallbearers include Bob Carroll, Matt Penney, Andy Penney, Liston Herod, Ben Sharpley, Dean Pritchett, Perry Murphey and Barney Thomas.
Officiating at the funeral service will be Brother Bill Honea assisted by Brother Bill Thompson.
The family acknowledges its appreciation to Twilight Nursing Home for their loving care for Mr. Morris during the past five years.

Paulyne Robertson
Paulyne Robertson, 90, of Dawson passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Heritage Oaks Retirement Village in Corsicana.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with the Rev. Bobby Joyce and the Rev. Brad Dancer officiating. Interment will follow at Dawson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Darryl Rogers, Cris Robertson, Jeff Robertson, Andy Robertson, Mike Joyce and Johnny Ross.
Mrs. Robertson was born Aug. 28, 1912 and raised in Bomarton, Knox County, Texas. She lived in Red Springs for 27 years where she farmed and ranched with her husband. Mrs. Robertson also owned and operated Robertson's Coin Laundry in Corsicana for 20 years. She was a resident of Corsicana for 40 years and a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Corsicana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Austin Robertson in 1990; and a granddaughter, Leza Carol Robertson in 1991.
Mrs. Robertson is survived by sons, Henry Bryon Robertson and wife Gayle of Bagwell, Joe Earl Robertson and wife Dianna of Powderly, Gary Don Robertson and wife Kay of Colleyville, and Larry Gene Robertson and wife Patricia of Fort Worth; daughter, Becky Rogers and husband Ray of Dawson; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

J.N. (Neil) Haynie
J.N. (Neil) Haynie, 82, of Corsicana passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 in Corsicana.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana.
Services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Baptist Church with Dr. Bob Webb and Dr. David Hale officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Glen Smith, Jody Thomas, Fritz Kloecker III, Curtis Ivie, Osye Pritchett and Tim Vickery.
Mr. Haynie was born Oct. 16, 1920 to Virgil Thomas and Maudie O. Ray Hanie at Phillips Chapel, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, and son, Bruce Haynie.
Mr. Haynie is survived by his wife, Gerry Haynie of Corsicana; son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Lori Haynie of Corsicna; son, Byron Haynie of Corsicana; daughter and son-in-law, Betsy and Mark Stroder of Corsicana; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Marion Roy Green
Marion Roy Green, 79, of Frost passed away Sunday, June 22, 2003 at Navarro Regional Hospital in Corsicana.
Services were 11 a.m. today at United Methodist Church in Frost with the Rev. Sheron Bell and the Rev. Nancy Schusler officiating. Interment followed at Frost Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Keith Speer, Alan Speer, Mike Barham, Wade Green, Jimmy Green, Joe McClure and Dale Green. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Ross, Billy Hargrove and William Brown.
Mr. Green was born Oct. 13, 1923 in Emmett. He was a member of Frost United Methodist Churc; a former trustee of the Frost Independent School District; chairman of trustees at Frost United Methodist Church; and chairman of the board at Frost United Methodist Church. He was retired from Regal International. Mr. Green was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Lynn Green.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Green of Frost; son and daughter-in-law, Roy Edward and Maria Green of Fayetteville, Texas; and two grandchildren, Benjamin Roy Green of College Station and Sally Jane Green of West.

Joe Bob Harper
Joe Bob Harper, 76, of Corsicana passed away Saturday, March 29, 2003 at Navarro Regional Hospital.
Graveside services were 10 a.m. today at Hopewell Cemetery with Benny Horn officiating.
Mr. Harper was born June 16, 1926, in Hemphill to Henry Harper and Sally Speight Harper. He was a driller for the oil fields.
Mr. Harper is survived by his sons, Rodney Harper of Santa Barbara, Calif. and Rocky Harper of LaPorte; two grandchildren; sisters, Rose and Mable; and brother, Johnny.

Louise 'Dee Dee' Baxter Aston
Services for Louise "Dee Dee" Baxter Aston, 98, of Athens are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at Eastern Hills Church of Christ with David Mahan and Lavelle Layfield officiating.
Burial will be in Prairie Point Cemetery in Bazette under the direction of Carrol-Lehr Funeral Home.
Mr. Aston died March 29, 2003 in Athens.
She was born March 6, 1905 in Corsicana and was raised in the Bazette Community in Navarro County. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Miles Aston in 1965. Known to family and friends as "Aunt Dee Dee," she was the last survivor of eight children born to Charles Richard and Maggie Kirk Baxter. Her brothers who preceded were Noma Baxter, Clint Baxter, Russell Baxter, Charles Royce Baxter and Richard Warner Baxter. Her sisters who preceded her in death were Inez Baxter Loftis and Georgianne Baxter Watt.
Dee Dee was always proud to tell the story of how in 1855 the early Baxter family had settled in and named the community of Baxter Springs, Kansas. In the years following the Civil War, the family moved to Texas, eventually settling in Bazette in Navarro County.
Dee Dee moved to Athens in the late 1940s after having lived in Wichita Falls and Wink. For many years she was employed at the Palace Drugstore on the Athens Square and often fondly reminisced about selling the drugstore's fine cosmetics. Dee Dee was quick to remind her family that she had never missed a Bazette Picnic at the Prairie Point Cemetery for as long as she could remember. She was a Charter Member of Robbins Road Church of Christ, now Eastern Hills Church of Christ. Dee Dee was a member of the Women's Business and Professional Association, Eastern Star and was a Charter Member of the Social Order of the Beauceant Assembly No. 172 of Athens.
Aunt Dee Dee was dearly loved by her numerous nieces and nephews and other family members who survive her.
Pallbearers will be nephews and great-nephews.

Wallace E. Watson
Wallace E. Watson, 67, of Corsicana passed away Friday, March 28, 2003 at the Dallas V.A. hospital.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. today at Dresden Cemetery with James T. Davis officiating.
Mr. Watson was born Sept. 24, 1935, in Mineola to Thomas Earl Watson and Georgia Humphreys.
Mr. Watson is survived by his wife, Bonnie Watson of Corsicana; sons, Wallace R. Watson and Eddie Watson and wife Rita, all of Frost; daughter, Tracy Brown and husband Ricky of Corsicana; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a sister, Louise O'Brian of Garland.
