Wanda Matlock
Wanda MatlockFrances Elwanda "Wanda" Barton Matlock, 74, of Weatherford, was born November 13, 1932 in Wichita Falls, the daughter of the late Thomas P. and Frances Cooksey Barton and died Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Fort Worth.
Matlock was a graduate of Belton High School and Draughons Business College, a long-time resident of Weatherford, member of South Main Church of Christ and Business and Professional Women's Organization. Matlock worked in the automotive industry for over fifty years.
Evelyn "Evie" Brookshire
Evelyn Brookshire, 75, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, in Fort Worth with her family at her side.
Brookshire was born June 8, 1932, in Goldfield, Iowa, to Fred and Verona Smith. An Iowa native, she came to Texas and met and married Ron Brookshire in Fort Worth. They were married for 39 wonderful years. She enjoyed gardening and loved to cook for her family. She will be greatly missed.
David Milton
Surrounded by family and friends, David W. Milton, 67, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 11, 2007. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, beloved brother, cherished grandfather and eternal friend to everyone he ever met.
David Milton was born in Kerrville on January 4, 1940 to Clayton and Bettye Milton and grew up in Center Point. After graduating with a degree in journalism from Texas Christian University, he worked as a journalist for several trade publications. He married his wife, Barbara, on December 12, 1981. They reside in Aledo.
Rex Bryant
Rex E. Bryant, 84, died Monday, July 9, 2007.
Known to everyone as “Pa,” Bryant will be missed by many for his jovial outlook and loving attitude. He was a Lockheed Martin retiree, a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps, a World War II veteran and POW. Bryant established Copperhead Ranch in Poolville in 1953 where he raised Appaloosa and quarter horses.
Clifford King
Clifford Joe King, 63, died at 12:47 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2007, in Dallas.
King was born in Garden City, Kan. on August 25, 1943. He was a longtime resident of Aledo. King worked in the defense, beverage, and automotive industries, but his true love was never his work. He loved his family, pets, and like Christopher Robin, "doing nothing."
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn King of Aledo; son, W. Joseph “Joey” King and wife, Leigh, of Fort Worth; stepfather, William "Bill” Weaver, of Sun City, Ariz.; sister, Cheryl Jolly, of Sacramento, Calif.; and grandchildren, Madeline and Harrison.
Dorothy Eakin
Dorothy Ann Eakin, 75, died on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in Madill, Okla.
Eakin was born in Fort Worth on February 24, 1932 to Ed Harrison Wentworth and wife, Maude. She had an avid career in nursing.
Survivors include sons, Sterling Eakin and wife, Jaye, of Lipan, Johnnie Eakin and wife, Ruth, of Okla., Bob Eakin, and wife, Linda, of Azle; sisters, Mary Sewall of Fort Worth and Billie Jean Cole of Fort Worth; also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Evelyn Wilson
Evelyn Sue Wilson, 55, died in her sleep July 3, 2007.
She was a teacher, writer, and an inspiration to all those who knew her.
Born November 4, 1951 to Billy George Wilson and Laverl Pearson Wilson,
she graduated from Springtown High School in 1969, earning her associates degree at Weatherford College and completing her masters in English at North Texas State University (UNT).
Wilson was survived by her mother (and best friend), Laverl Wilson; sisters, Judy Wilson Dereta and Debra Wilson Wakeland; brother-in-law, Joe Wakeland; nephews, Eric Shane Foster and wife, Kari, Joe Wilson (Wil) Wakeland; her favorite niece, Meghan Nicole Dereta; and a multitude of very close friends, colleagues and students.
