Jordan Shackelford
Jordan Lee Shackelford, 18, a loving daughter, sister, niece and granddaughter, died Friday, February 23, 2007 in Fort Worth.
Shackelford was born May 29, 1988 in Wichita Falls to Marvin and Michelle Shackelford. She was a longtime resident of Wise County. She had been in drill team since she was 5 years old. She was an All American Cheerleader in Poolville and had performed in Orlando, Fla. at the Capital One Bowl. Shackelford had been a member of the dance team at Perrin High School, was named in Who's Who in American High Schools and was also an honor roll student. She was attending Weatherford College as a freshman with plans to teach art in a local elementary school.
Gearldine Lane
Gearldine Lane, 88, a retired school teacher, died Friday, February 23, 2007 in Azle. Lane was born January 15, 1919 in Orange to the late James and Allida Evans. She was a long time resident of Azle, had been a member of the Rebekah Lodge and was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star Lodge. Lane was a member of Ash Creek Baptist Church, where she taught a Sunday School class. She was involved in the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority for Teachers and The Retired Teachers Assocation.
Rowe Howard
Rowe Reynolds Howard, age 88, of Weatherford died early Friday morning, February 23, 2007 in a Fort Worth Hospital. Born June 15, 1918 in Garner, he was a resident of Weatherford and Parker County all his life. Howard was a rancher, a retired civil engineer for the Texas Highway Department and a member of the South Main Street Church of Christ. He was a U. S. Army veteran and upon discharge attended Texas A&M and graduated with a degree in civil engineering.
John M. McTasney
John M. McTasney, 85, a retired aircraft engineer, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007.
John M. McTasney was born August 24, 1921 in Cherokee, Iowa son of the late, Merrill and Gertrude Gleason McTasney and reared by Pheobe And Bill Lee of Cherokee, Iowa.
McTasney is survived by his wife, Gladys McTasney of Soda Springs; children, John McTasney and wife, JoAnn, Richard McTasney and wife, Kay, Sharon Bist, Marsha VanDyke and husband, Lee; daughter-in-law, Barbara McTasney; 18 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; sister, Ann Graf of Grants Pass, Ore.; and cousins, Bill and Kenneth Lee.
Betty Ozell Frazier Taylor
Betty Ozell Frazier Taylor died peacefully at her home in Dobbs Valley on February 20, 2007, one day after her 93rd birthday.
Taylor was a long time resident of Weatherford and Parker County, living in Texas most of her life, leaving only for a short residence in Arizona. She was proud of being from a Texas farming family, whom she loved and respected.
She is survived by Art and Wanda West of Mt. View, Ark., Betty Taylor of Dobbs Valley and Donna Frazier of Eugene, Ore.; 12 grandchildren, George Fowler, James Fowler and Mike West of Wichita, Kan., Dale West of Mt. View, Ark., Edward Fowler of New Mexico, Janeen Dobbs of Millsap, Cathy Howdeshell of Haslet, David West of Independence, Miss., Susan Griffin of Mt. Pleasant, Amy Love of Lubbock, Christie Rogers of Lyles, Tenn. and Kelly Wolf of Troutdale, Ore.; 24 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren, with three more on the way.
Lana Nix Wright
Lana Nix Wright died Tuesday, February 20, 2007.
Wright was born July 23, 1964 in Longview, the daughter of the late Truman M. and Lillie Putman Nix.
A long time resident of Weatherford, Wright was a loving and caring mother as well as being very family oriented. Her cheerful, magnetic personality and talkative nature made her very fun loving and successful in her business. She had a great love for nature and her animals.
Charles P. (Sonny) Johnson
Charles P. (Sonny) Johnson, 64 of Weatherford died Friday, October 13, 2006. He was born in Mineral Wells and moved to Weatherford at an young age. He graduated from Weatherford High in 1961.
Johnson started Johnson’s Fence Company in 1969 and operated this successful fence company until cancer forced him to part-time in 2001.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Johnson of Weatherford; sons, Scott Johnson and wife Amelia of Peaster, Matt Johnson of Peaster; mother, Merle Jernigan of Weatherford; sisters, Shari Scoggin of Weatherford, and Linda Wiggs of Weatherford; brother, Mike Johnson of Fort Worth; two grandchildren, Parker Johnson and wife, Misty, and Jessica Johnson; and two great grandchildren, Coy and Christian.
The graveside service was scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2006 in the Dillbeck cemetery . Visitation 6-8 p.m. Monday at Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
