Lloyd Elliston Thomas
Lloyd Elliston Thomas, 80, of Weatherford, died Saturday, June 3 in a local nursing facility. Born August 4, 1925 in Lincoln, Arkansas, he was a resident of Parker County for many years.
Thomas was a TV technician and owned L and M TV Service, located on the square in Weatherford. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II and was among the first crew on the Marcus Island aircraft carrier.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jewel Thomas; brothers J.W. and Cecil Thomas; and sister Imogene Dillin.
Survivors include daughters Sharoyn Viets and husband Leonard of CA, and Brenda Curtis and husband Craig of CA; sons Terry Lloyd Thomas of Las Cruses, NM, and Randal Thomas and wife Connie of Fort Worth; sisters Wilma Willard of Graham, and Janie Yarbrough of Graham; sister-in-law Elsie Thomas of Graham; brothers Roy Lee Thomas and wife Nancy of Graham, and Clarence Thomas of Graham; grandchildren Dana Thomas, Sunshine Rene Fulcher and Jacob Randal Thomas; and several great grandchildren.
Graveside service: 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Florine Gwendolyn Roddy
Florine Gwendolyn Roddy, 86, of Weatherford, died Tuesday, May 30, in a local Hospital. She was born November 27, 1919, in Weatherford and was a resident of Parker County for many years.
Roddy was a retired schoolteacher, a member of the Prince Memorial C.M.E, a member of Delta Sigma Theta and the NEA.
Survivors include son Leon Roddy and wife Charlene Davis-Roddy of Grand Prairie; sisters Cleo McQueen of Weatherford, and Edna Hopkins of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren Tonia Roddy-Moore, and Kendra Roddy; and great grandson Darius Roddy-Moore.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5 at the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel

Betty Gibson
Betty G. Rubin Gibson, 74, of Weatherford, died on her 51st wedding anniversary, Thursday, June 1, 2006, at a local hospital. She was a loving wife, sister, and aunt. She was born February 10, 1932, and was a member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church of Weatherford.
Gibson was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, and one brother.
Survivors include husband Don Gibson of Weatherford; sister, Trudy Boyanoski of Weatherford; nieces, Heidi Carlson and husband, Mike of Weatherford, Stephanie Mullins of Abilene; nephews, Steve Boyanoski of Sachse, Herbrt Werner Rubin and wife, Pamela of England; great niece, Karin Sanders and husband, Chad of Weatherford; great nephew, Joe Rebolledo and wife, Robyn of Weatherford, Herbie Rubin and wife, Lashea of LA, Timmy Rubin and wife, Ashley of LA; two great-great nieces; and close friends, Don Torbett and wife, Emma Jo of Weatherford.

Lynda Faye Hightower
Lynda Faye Hightower, 61, died Monday, June 19, 2006, after battling an illness since 1972. She was born February 17, 1945, to Elgin and Bea Bobbitt in Tyler.
Hightower was a longtime resident of Azle, an avid gardener and loved her grandchildren and her canine friends, Devon and Brady.
Hightower was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include sons Lynn Hightower and wife April, of Azle, Jason Hightower of Azle, and Randy Hightower of Fort Worth; brothers Wayne Bobbitt and Larry Bobbitt, of Azle; grandchildren Steven, Kaci, Randall and Justin Hightower; numerous relatives and friends.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, at White's Azle Chapel.
Charles “Pete” Matthews
Charles “Pete” Matthews, 68, of Brock, died, Monday, June 5, 2006, in a Fort Worth hospital. Born August 30, 1937, in Waxahachie, he was a resident of Parker County for many years.
Matthews retired after 45 years in the trucking industry, was a member of Brock Baptist Church, Olive Branch Masonic Lodge of Brock, Shriners and Scottish Rites. He was a talented woodworker and made beautiful furniture, loved his John Deere tractor and was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother.
Matthews was preceded in death by his parents, Casto and Katie Matthews and a brother, James Bennett.
Survivors include wife of 47 years Wanda Matthews of Brock; daughters Debbie Matthews of Fort Worth, and Cynthia Powell and husband Jerry of North Richland Hills; son Charles Matthews and wife Jimmie of Granbury; sisters Emma Pittman and husband Loyd of Spring, and Charlotte Underwood and husband Milton of Haslet; grandchildren Crystal Gernhart, Scott Stephens and Jennifer Stephens; step-grandchildren Rori Mann, Rian Bartlett and JP Powell; step-great grandchildren CJ Mann and Anthony Ables; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and his faithful cat, Sam.
Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 7, at the funeral home.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, in the Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel.

Gary Fields
Gary Fields, 45, died on Monday, May 29, 2006, surrounded by his family. Fields was a surveyor.
Fields was born February 20, 1961, to Roy and Christine Fields in Fort Worth. He was a devoted son to his mother and father during their illnesses. He was an avid golfer and hunter, and was deeply loved by his nieces and nephews. He was known for his great sense of humor.
His mother and father preceded him in death.
Survivors include brother Chris Fields and wife Ruby, of Azle and Earle A. Fields; sister, Victoria Jones, of Azle; nieces and nephews, Cory Fields, Jacob Jones, Christie Jones, Colby Fields, Natalie Fields, Jamie Jones and Brandi Fields; and several great nieces and nephews.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, at White's Funeral Home.
Graveside service: 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, at Ash Creek Cemetery.
