Robert Bruce Crow
Robert Bruce Crow, 76, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at a Fort Worth hospital.
Crow was born April 26, 1930 in Fort Worth. He and his twin sister, Ruth, were the first set of twins born in Harris Hospital. He retired from the Operating Engineers Local #178. Crow was a deacon at the Clear Fork Baptist Church and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Mike Crow and wife, Laurie, David Crow, and Andy Crow; grandchildren, Hannah and Laramie; sister, Ruth; and other family members.
A funeral service was scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, August 19, 2006 at Clear Fork Baptist Church, 100 Ragle Road, Weatherford. Burial followed in the Dicey Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Bruce's request was for donations to the Clear Fork Baptist Church Building Fund, 100 Ragle Road, Weatherford, Texas 76087.
Arrangements were handled by White's Funeral Home in Weatherford.
Robert Jackson Goforth
Robert Jackson Goforth of Benbrook passed away at his home Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006. The son of Stonewall Jackson and Edra Faye Finley Goforth, he was born in Parker County on Aug. 6, 1922. During WWII, he served as a member of the United States Air Force, where he received the air medal and the Purple Heart. For many years he was a rancher in Parker County, stockyard inspector and a member of the Cattle raisers Association.
Goforth was preceded in death by his wife in December of 1998.
Survivors include brothers, John and Johnnie Goforth; stepson, Sidney Sledge and wife, Sue; grandson, Tony Sledge; and great-grandson, Tyler Sledge.
The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.
Graveside service: 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, in Brown Cemetery in Aledo.
Danny Joe Peel
Danny Joe Peel, 53, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2006, in Paradise. He was born Sept. 21, 1952, in Fort Worth, the son of Loyd and Thelma Read Peel.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Sue Cannon; and stepfather, Dick Wilson.
Survivors include mother, Thelma Wilson; father, L. D. Peel; son, Danny Peel, Jr. of Arlington; daughters, Jennifer Peel of Tyler and Stephanie Peel of Lyndale; sister, Kay Vaughan and husband, Rick of Brentwood, Tenn.; grandchildren, Hunter and Daniele of Abilene; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Mercedes Rodriguez.
Graveside service: 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Cottondale Cemetery.
Wilma Inez Bennett
Wilma Inez Bennett, 84, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006. She was born Oct, 10, 1921, in Bosque County to Maggie and John Niblett. At a young age, Bennett and her family moved to the Silvercreek area in Parker County, which is now known as Willow Park. She the youngest of the family.
After graduating from Aledo High School in 1939, she married husband Alvin Bennett later that year. She was involved at Aledo First Baptist Church for more than 45 years.
She was preceded in death by husband, Alvin.
Survivors include son, James Alvin Bennett and wife, Jeanie; daughter, Gloria Janis Kearns of Aledo; son, Gregory Stephen Bennett and wife, Michele of Colleyville; grandchildren, Karin Lawler, Marna Boggs, Mac Bennett, Shelly Johns, Sandra Bennett and Eric Bennett: seven great-grandchildren and numerous friends and relatives.
The family received guests on Sunday, Aug. 13, at the Carter – Bratton Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service: 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, at the First Baptist church of Aledo.
Internment: Brown Cemetery.
Harold A. Miller
Harold A. Miller, 83, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, in Fort Worth. He was born Jan. 7, 1923, in Kamay, the son of Allen and Nellie Halford Miller. He was a long time resident of the Springtown area. After his family, Miller’s great love was cattle and farming. He also served his country honorably during WWII and the Korean War.
Miller was preceded in death by his parents; older son, Michael; and two brothers.
Survivors include wife, Miriam Miller; daughters, Marilyn Bowman and husband, Allen of Okla. and Tamara Slate and husband, Bobby of Azle; sons, Dana Miller and wife, Stacey of Azle, Timothy Miller and wife, Pamela of Georgia and Greg Miller and wife, Sandy of Fort Worth, as well as 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at White's Azle Funeral Home.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m., Monday at DFW National Cemetery.
Ruby Nell Diffie
Ruby Nell Diffie, 73, died at home Friday, Aug. 11, 2006. A lifelong homemaker, she was born Ruby Nell Hughes in Grant, Okla., on Nov. 29, 1932. Diffie was a mother and grandmother. The family is grateful to Dr. LoCoco and his staff for the compassion and kindness provided throughout her illness.
Diffie was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, John Wiley Diffie.
Survivors include sons, Ricky Dale Diffie and wife, Kathy of Weatherford and John Stanley Diffie and wife, Debbie of Springtown; grandsons, Kevin Diffie and wife, Amanda of Keller, Justin Diffie of Fort Worth and Shea Diffie of Springtown; great-granddaughter, Kristen Diffie of Keller.
Visitation: 6 - 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, at White's Funeral Home.
Funeral: 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, at White's Azle Funeral Home.
Burial: Azleland Cemetery.
