Effie M. Renfro, 99, died Saturday, October 10, 1998 at a Fort Worth nursing facility.
Mrs. Renfro was born June 26, 1899 in Weatherford. Her husband and she developed the Highland Park area east of Weatherford. She continued as a home builder after his death in 1962.
She is survived by her daughter Charlotte Evelyn Neal and son-in-law George Neal of Fort Worth and two sisters, Lorena Wehunt of Weatherford and Leona Schaeffer of Wichita Falls.
Her survivors also include grandchildren Geroge Neal, Jr. and his wife Donna of Fort Worth; Karen Ann Doyle and her husband Fred of Colleyville; Ronald Neal and his wife Debbie of Irving.
Mrs. Renfro is also survived by great-grandchildren Christopher and Michael Neal, Brandi Petsick, Daniel Doyle and his wife Andrea, Jeffrey and Scott Doyle, and Ashley, Lauren and Courtney Neal.
Maria Salas
Maria Salas, 87, of Benbrook passed away Monday, July 20. A homemaker, Mrs. Salas was born January 28, 1911 in Zaragosa, Mexico. Mrs. Salas came to the United States when she was eight years old, settling with her family in Del Rio, Texas. She was a member of El Tabernaculo Assemblies of God church there for more than 50 years. Active in church work, she made quilts for a hobby. Later she lived in Fort Worth, where she attended Riverside Community Nazarene Church. She was known for her excellent cooking. She is survived by three sons, Dr. Abel Salas of Post, Texas; Fred Salas and his wife, Sylvia, of San Antonio, Texas; and Gilberto Salas and his wife, Maria Elena, of San Antonio. She is also survived by one daughter, Rebecca Golden and husband Lee of Benbrook, Texas, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside service and interment at Aledo Brown Cemetery 10 a.m. Wednesday. Arrangements by White's Funeral Home.

Vernon E. Smart, age 71, of Poolville, Texas, passed away on Friday, July 24, 1998 in a local hospital. He was born in Weatherford on April 9, 1927.
Mr. Smart served in the United States Army for two years during World War II. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He was also retired from the Parker County Sheriff's Office and the County Attorney's Office. At the time of his death, Mr. Smart was Chief of Police for the City of Hudson Oaks.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Smart of Poolville and their children: Denise Foster of Springtown; Renee Briseno of Willow Park; Jeff Smart of Weatherford; Amy Smart Rosenbam, Scott Smart and Robert Smart of Poolville. Mr. Smart is also survived by his sisters Bobbye McBride of Fort Worth and Nona Friery of Romayor, Texas.
Glen Lester Smith
Glen Lester Smith, 77, of Aledo, died Sunday, November 8, 1998.
Mr. Smith was born in Chittenango, New York, on May 6, 1921. He married Caroline Schaumann on March 23, 1951 in Rochelle Park, New York.
He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Smith, who lived in the area since 1969, was an engineer for Boeing in the aerospace field for 20 years and retired.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Caroline Schaumann Smith of Aledo. He is also survived by his daughters Kathy J. Barthen of Saginaw, Texas, and Janine C. Hickman of Aledo, and his son Mark H. Smith of Aledo.
Survivors also include his grandchildren: Charlie, Meghan, Michael and Noah Smith of Aledo; Jason Hickman of Aledo; Caroline Barthen of Weatherford; and Michael, Alex, and Josh Barthen of Saginaw.
No services were planned.

Edward Angeles Sosa, 54, of Aledo died Wednesday, August 12, in a Weatherford hospital. He was born in San Antonio on November 28, 1944.
Mr. Sosa was the co-owner of the Bearcat Cafe in Aledo. He was also the retired owner of Sosa's Mobile Wash-Rite and CPS Security Company.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Manuela Angelez and Edward T. Sosa, and by his son, Eric A. Sosa.
He is survived by his wife, Inez D. Sosa of Aledo; a daughter, Elisa S. Graves of Atlanta, Georgia; and three sons, Daniel Sosa of Fort Worth, Joe Sosa of San Angelo, and Edward Sosa, Jr., of Aledo.
Survivors also include: brothers, Ruben Angelez of DeSoto and Johnny Sosa of Eagle Pass; sisters, Lupe Johnson of Fort Worth and Rosa and Olga Sosa of Eagle Pass; and five grandchildren.

Shane Allen Stacks, 26, of Springtown died Monday, September 21, 1998, at a Fort Worth hospital from injuries he received in an automobile accident.
Stacks was born September 15, 1972 in Hurst. He lived in Springtown for the last four years and worked for Mike Byrd Automotive in Aledo since 1996.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Stacks of Springtown; his son David Kennedy of Springtown; and two daughters Shelly Kennedy of Springtown and Barbara Gilbert of Pell City, Alabama.
Stacks is also survived by his mother Sandra Yates of Springtown, his father Melbourne Stacks of Joshua, and his brothers Jon Stacks of Joshua and Melbourne Stacks of Fort Worth. Survivors also include his grandmothers Betty Gomez of Fort Worth and Dorothy Hill of Weatherford.
