Morris Edward Currey 1931-2003
Morris Edward Currey, 71, Uncle to Nita Schubert, Cassidy and Cody Schubert died Sunday, March 2, 2003, of a massive heart attack in Orange, Texas. He was known to most of his family as just "Uncle Mo". Graveside services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2003, 2:00 pm at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha, Texas, with Dr. Clint Davis officiating. Visitation will be Saturday, March 8, 10:00am-12:00pm. Arrangements made by Bates-Cooper Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Morris sold his house in California and moved to Big Lake in 1999. His traveling companion and life long friend Billie Hyde was with him when he passed on. The last two years, Moe and Billie spent their time traveling around visiting friends and relatives and fishing. Uncle Moe loved to fish. Morris Currey was a wonderful man full of life and joy. He always had a joke to tell and he never met a stranger. He loved everyone. Morris Currey will be missed, but he will continue to live through those that knew and loved him. Mr. Currey a member of the Church of Christ and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Currey; his mother Justeen Currey, his father Charley Ivey Currey, and oldest brother Jake Currey. He is survived by his loving companion Billie Hyde, a daughter, Lani Ropiequet of Houston; a son, Kevin Currey of Lewisville; one brother, Charles Currey of Granbury, and a sister, Mary Pace of Fort Myers, Florida and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty Alene Goodloe 1932-2003
On Sunday, March 16, 2003, at 9:25 a.m., Betty (BB) Alene Goodloe, went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born on December 17, 1932, to Allen and Ora Huff, who preceded her in death, as well as her brother, Allen Huff, Jr., sister, Evangeline (Vannie) Askey, son, Roy Goodloe, granddaughter, Camille Alene Martinez, and her loving husband of 40 plus years, Maurice Goodloe. She leaves to mourn one son, Sammy Lee Goodloe and wife Toni, and one daughter, Melissa (Missy) Martinez and husband, Javier (Herbie), two very special nieces, Suzanne (Sue) Harrison and Darnett Daniels, all of Big Lake, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Homegoing services will be Saturday, March 22, 2003, 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Big Lake, Texas followed by interment at Glenrest Cemetery also in Big Lake. Viewing of the body will be Friday, March 21, 2003 from 6-8 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Big Lake.

Jose H. Reyes 1913-2003
Jose H. Reyes, 89, of Big Lake, passed away on March 16, 2003 in Big Lake surrounded by his family. A Rosary was held on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. at St. Margaret's Church in Big Lake. Funeral Mass will be on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church. Interment will be in Glenrest Cemetery under the direction of Gutierrez Funeral Chapels/Knickerbocker. Jose Reyes was born to Jose Holguin Reyes and Rufina Rodriguez on July 30, 1913 in Knickerbocker, Texas. He was a retired sheep shearer. Survivors include two sons: Guadalupe Reyes and wife Eva of Mertzon, and Ray Reyes and wife Gloria of Big Lake; four daughters, Ruth and husband Jack Benedict of GA., Delia and husband Rudy Martinez, Elva Reyes, and Debbie Reyes, all of Big Lake. Also surviving are 22 grandchildren , 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Pallbearers will be Eddie Reyes, Ray Reyes, Sr., Jerry Sifuentes, J. D. Pina, Ronald Ray Reyes, Eric Lynn Reyes, Ray Reyes, Jr., Honorable Ignacio Martinez.

Juanita Gonzales Reyes 1908 - 2003
Juanita Gonzales Reyes, 95, of Big Lake, died, Sunday, March 23, 2003. A rosary service was held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Margaret's Catholic Church in Big Lake. Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003 in St. Margaret's Catholic Church. Burial was in Glen Rest Cemetery. Arrangements were by Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo, Texas. She is survived by one son, Eugenio Reyes, Sr., of Big Lake; two daughters, Concepcion Perez and Margareta Garcia both of Iraan.

Dorothy Biggers 1930-2003
ODESSA - Dorothy Lee Clark Robitson Biggers, 73, of Odessa, a homemaker, died Friday, March 21, 2003 in Big Lake. Services were at 3 p.m. Monday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Watkins officiating. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. She was born in Sunset and moved to Odessa in 1949 from Junction. Survivors include one son, Dennis Earl Robitson of Odessa; two daughters, Julia Yvonne Rowland of Big Lake and Sherry Elaine Cordle of Odessa; one sister, Sue Riddle of Junction; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great- grandchildren.

Jimmie Lee Proctor 1930-2003
Jimmie Lee Proctor, 72, of San Angelo, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2003, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Family visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Robert Massie Funeral Home. Funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003, at Grape Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Brad Winchester officiating. Committal services followed at 2 p.m. in Glen Rest Cemetery, Big Lake, Texas. Jimmie was born in Coleman, Texas on June 10, 1930, to William Milas and Birdie May Francis Proctor. Jimmie was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps, during the Korean conflict. After his return to civilian life, he started to work in the oil industry where he retired from Southland Royalty as a pumper. He later again retired from the Rocker B Ranch. Jimmie and Mary Ann Rogers were married on December 9, 1997, in Mertzon, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Barney B. Proctor and William Winifred Proctor. Survivors are his wife, Mary Ann Proctor of San Angelo; daughter, Vickie Lynn Matthews of Odessa; son, Jimmie Dell Proctor and wife, Stacie, of San Angelo; sister, Bonnie Jonas of Arlington and Dorothy Foy of Austin; brothers, Horace Proctor and wife, Peggy, of Seattle, and Robbie Len Proctor of Big Lake; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Hospice of San Angelo, 36 E. Twohig Suite 1100, San Angelo, Texas 76903

Dorothy Kasparek Pettiet
Graveside service for Dorothy Kasparek Pettiet, 78, of Big Lake, was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2001, in Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake. Arrangements were by Johnson's Funeral Home of San Angelo. Mrs. Pettiet died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Reagan County Care Center in Big Lake. Survivors include one son, Rudy Merlin Pettiet of Big Lake; and brothers and sisters, Dude Kasparek, Mary, Josie Griffin, Jay Kasparek and Luis Kasparek.

Willis Eugene Morse
CANTON - Willis Eugene "Gene" Morse, age 72, died Monday, April 2, 2001, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born July 8, 1928 in the Flats Community of Wills Point. He served in the United States Navy from 1948 - 1950. He previously served as commander and vice commander of the American Legion No. 296 of Mineola. He retired from Safeway Stores after 30 years as trucking manager. During retirement he was a rancher. He was a member of Sand Flat Missionary Baptist Church of Grand Saline. Mr. Morse was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Verbia Morse; two brothers, A. C. and Gerald Morse; baby sister; and a daughter, Sharon Hauerwas. Survivors include his wife, Janie, married 50 years, April 22, 2000; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky and Debby Morse of Grand Saline, and Randy and Billie Morse of Dallas; seven grandchildren; Kyle Morse, Shannon Gardner, Shelley Hamilton, Randy Morse, Jr., Rhonda Johnson, Scott Hauerwas and Kristi Thompson; eight Great-Grandchildren, Alexandra, Christopher, Trent, Taylor, Chaney, Landry, Heath and Katy; three sisters and husbands; Juanita Cuniff - Dallas, Rita and Jim Swinea - Garland, and Paulette and Buck Brooks - Jacksonville; one brother and wife, Billy and Linda Morse of Big Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be Thursday April 5, 2001 in the Chapel at Eubank Funeral Home in Canton at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Haven of Memories. Officiating will be Charlie Ildeman and Edward Ridge. Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, April 4, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers are Kyle Morse, Brad Gardner, Andy Hamilton, Randy Rose, Jr., Gary Johnson, Junior Dry and Buddy LaPrade. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the American Legion No. 296 of Mineola. Arrangements are directed by Eubank Funeral Home Inc. of Canton, Texas.

Arnulfo Sanchez
SAN ANGELO - Arnulfo Sanchez, 49, of San Angelo, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, in a local hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2001 at the Apostolic Assembly Church with burial in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Johnson's Funeral Home. Survivors include his wife, Beatriz Sanchez of San Angelo; sons, George Sanchez, Robert Sanchez and Arnulfo Sanchez, Jr., all of San Angelo, and Mario Sanchez of Dimmitt; daughter, Rosa Sanchez of San Angelo; and brother and sisters.
