Mrs. McCullough

MIDLAND -- Sarah McCullough, a former Snyder resident, died Monday, April 19, in Midland.
A memorial service for Mrs. McCullough, 64, is set for 1 p.m. Thursday in the Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Travis Lillard officiating.
Born Sept. 24, 1939 in Snyder to John and Myrtle Baze Johnston, she had been a resident of Midland for 38 years where she was a member of the Midland Senior Center and was also a senior companion.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. E.W. McCullough; her parents; four sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly Jean and Terry Ives of Midland and Cerena and Rick Suarez of El Paso; a brother of Dale Johnston of Snyder; three sisters, Francis Hughes and Beverly Ainsworth, both of Snyder, and Jody Bradley of Sourlake; and five grandchildren.

Jeanie Echols
1938-2004
Jeanie Echols, 65, died Monday, April 19, in Snyder Oaks Care Center.
Funeral service for Mrs. Echols was set for 2 p.m. today in the Albany First Christian Church with the Rev. Colby Smith officiating. Burial was to follow in the Albany Cemetery.
Born Dec. 27, 1938 in Clarendon, she married Robert Echols on Dec. 22, 2004 in Dallas.
A homemaker, she was a member of the First Christian Church and a founder of the Albany chapter of Beta Sigma Phi.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Echols of Albany; two daughters, Jeanine Hill of Albany and Jan Matthews of Grand Prairie; two stepdaughters, Robbie Gehling of Hutchinson, Kan., and Jill Colb of Colleyville; three brothers, Dwight McAnear of Durango, Colo., Ronnie McAnear of Clarendon and Freddie McAnear of Pearland; her mother, Mrs. J.G. McAnear of Clarendon; and five grandchildren.
Buckshot Burns
1939-2004
Larry “Buckshot” Burns, former Snyder resident, died Monday, April 19, in Medical Center Hospital.
Service is set for 1 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home with the Rev. John Lyons officiating. Interment will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Hillside Memorial Gardens in Snyder.
Born on Nov. 12, 1939 in Ackerly to Buck and Ima Burns, he moved from Snyder to Odessa in 1984. He worked in the oilfield as a toolpusher, retiring in 1998. He married Linda Perdue on Oct. 17, 1958 in Cortez, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Robert Burns; and a sister, Linda Montgomery.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Burns of Odessa; two sons, Buck and Kevin Burns of Odessa; three daughters, Lyn Chaney and Teresa McDuffee, both of Snyder, and Jay Hobbs of Rockmart, Ga.; his stepmother, Glenna Burns of Lubbock; two sisters, Peggy Morris of Lubbock and Elizabeth Higginbotham of Victoria; two stepbrothers, Ted and James Johnston, both of Lubbock; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
George Parker
1937-2004
ROBY -- George Irvin Parker Jr., 66, died Friday, April 16, in an Abilene nursing home.
Funeral service for Mr. Parker was held Sunday in the Roby First Baptist Church. Allan Cartrite, Jerry Vincent and Richard Melton officiated. Burial followed in the Roby Cemetery.
Born June 3, 1937 in Fisher County, he was a member of the First Baptist Church, farmed and worked at the gin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Holland Parker; and two sisters, Willardene and Maurcene Parker.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Kay Parker of Abilene; two sisters, Wanda McClendon of Abilene and Mildred Parker of Roby; a nephew and his wife, Randy and Jana Parker of Abilene; a niece and her husband, Tina and Ed Walker of Snyder; a great-nephew, Blake Parker of Abilene; and two great-nieces, Reanne Parker of Abilene and Kaylee Walker of Snyder.
Lee Hodges
1937-2004
TUSCOLA -- Lee Roy Hodges, the father of Randy Vernon of Snyder, died Friday, April 16, at his home.
Funeral service for Mr. Hodges, 66, was set for 10 a.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Burtis Williams officiating. Burial was to follow in the Tuscola Cemetery.
Born May 21, 1937, he moved to Arizona at an early age and moved back to Tuscola in 1944. He married Iva Jean Spears on Dec. 14, 1993.
Mr. Hodges was a professional rodeo calf roper, retiring in 1980. He also worked as an oil well driller and as a racehorse Trainer.
Survivors include his wife, Iva Jean Hodges of Tuscola; three daughters, Mina Kay Wilson of Coleman, Michelle Renfro of Sachse and Lesa Walker of McAllen; another son, Robby Lee Hodges of Moses Lake, Wash.; two sisters, Sherry Marshall of Tuscola and Drenda Kay Willis of Abilene; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Olivia Schroedter
1911-2004
SWEETWATER -- Olivia Selma Schroedter, grandmother of Beverly Greene and Greg Sullenger of Snyder, died Sunday, April 18, in the Sweetwater Healthcare Center.
Service for Mrs. Schroedter, 92, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in Faith Lutheran Church with Dale Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in the Roscoe Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Born May 4, 1911 in Yorktown, she married Herman Otto Schroedter on July 12, 1930 in Nordheim. She attended school at Garfield in DeWitt County where she played basketball and ran track. Living in Sweetwater since 1942, she was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Otto Schroedter on Oct. 22, 1975; a son, Delton Schroeder; two daughters, Myrtle Sullenger and Rosie McDonald; and one brother, Albert Buelter.
Survivors include three sons, Perry Schroedter and wife Trudy of Richmond, Roy Schroedter of Sweetwater and Bobby Schroedter and wife Linda of Roby; three daughters, Carlyn Dalton and husband Luke of Aztec, N.M., Fay Gardner and husband David of Crowley and Kay Carter of Hempsted; a sister, Helga Murry of Nordheim; 13 other grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren including Tana, Teryn, Tyson and Laci Sullenger, and James and Jason Greene, all of Snyder; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Paul McDonald, Skeeter McDonald, Greg Sullenger, Troy Schroedter, Jimmy Reed, Chad Schroedter; and honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Hagood and Kenny Landfried.
Marvin Sentell
1931-2004
Marvin F. Sentell, 73, died at 10:40 p.m. Thursday, April 15, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Service for Mr. Sentell is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Fane Downs, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Snyder Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Feb. 24, 1931 in Snyder, he was a graduate of Snyder High School and Texas Tech University. He graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1955.
Mr. Sentell served as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army for two years and worked in the district attorney’s office in Fort Worth for one year before joining the office of Texas Attorney General.
He married Julie Tiffany on Nov. 1, 1975 in Snyder. Mr. Sentell returned to Snyder in 1988 to set up a private law practice until 1998. He was Democratic candidate for 132nd District Judge in 1992. Mr. Sentell was active in the Snyder Rotary Club, serving as club president in 1994 and as district governor in 1996. He also was a Rotary Foundation Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Snyder where he served as an elder.
Mr. Sentell also was a director of the Snyder Area Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse, a director and past-president of the Historic Scurry County Inc., and a director of the Children’s Trust Fund of Texas Family Pride Council.
He and his wife Julie also were active in the Rotary Youth Exchange program and served several times as host parents for exchange students in Snyder.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Sears Sentell and Joe Sentell.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Sentell of Snyder; two daughters and sons-in-law, Holly and Mike Davis and Erin and Lawson Copley, all of Dallas; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Waylana Sentell of Lamesa and Mike and Susanna Sentell of Austin; a sister, Mary Sue Harbaugh of Anacortes, Wash.; four nieces, Susan Birkenfeld of Snyder, Diane Russo of Waco, Kelley Mabry of Spokane, Wash., Lois Harbaugh of Bellevue, Wash.; two nephews, Mark Harbaugh of Fircrest, Wash., and Charles Harbaugh of Seattle; a cousin, Anne Sears of Longmont, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Scurry County Museum, 6200 College Ave., or to a favorite charity.
Visitation will be held from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Vivian Lewis
1918-2004
Vivian Lewis, a longtime resident of Snyder, died Thursday, April 15, in Snyder Oaks Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Graveside service for Mrs. Lewis, 85, will be held at 11:30 a.m. in the Snyder Cemetery with the Rev. David Phillips of Northside Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Oct. 13, 1918 in O’Donnell, she married H.E. Lewis on Sept. 20, 1937 in Snyder.
Mrs. Lewis, a housewife, was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
Survivors include her husband, H.E. Lewis of Snyder; three sons, Randy Lewis, Ralph Lewis and Ronnie Lewis, all of Snyder; a sister, Rosa Mae Williams of Andrews; and five grandchildren.
Roberto Lopez
1991-2004
Roberto R. Lopez, a sixth grader at West Elementary, died Tuesday, April 13, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Funeral service was set for 2 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with U.S. Army Chaplain Capt. Leo Moras, a family friend, officiating. The Rev. Roy Badillas of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, the Rev. Rudy Casta, pastor of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Lamesa, and the Rev. John Chero, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church in Anson, were to assist. Burial was to follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born July 8, 1991 in San Angelo with congenital heart disease, he had undergone successful surgery on Dec. 21, 1995 at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. Roberto had an avid interest in computers, video games and movies.
Survivors include his father and mother, Jose L. and Maria Lopez of Snyder; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Maritza and Ubaldo Juarez of Snyder and Ginelda Lopez of Snyder; a brother, Jose Lopez Jr. of Snyder; paternal grandparents, Humberto and Candelaria Lopez of San Angelo; two nieces, Andrea and Adrianna Juarez of Snyder; and Leo Moras, a brother in faith.
