Ruth Cardwell
1923-2004
Ruth Johnson Cardwell, longtime Snyder resident, died Friday, March 26, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Cardwell, 80, is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Vernon R. Groce and Vernon E. Groce, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Nov. 28, 1923 in Post Oak, she married R.L. Cardwell on May 25, 1991 in Snyder.
Mrs. Cardwell had lived in Snyder about 40 years and was a retired reflexologist and the owner of rental properties in Snyder.
She had attended the Lighthouse Assembly of God, the First Assembly of God and currently was a member of the Snyder Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, R.L. Cardwell of Snyder; two step-sons, Bobby Cardwell of Amarillo and Larry Cardwell of Springtown; three sisters, Grace Rhodes, Dillia Holley and Lorene Holman, all of Graham; a brother Clinton Johnson of Graham; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; and num-erous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was set for 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
A.C. Morton
1916-2004
WINK -- Allen Calvin “A.C.” Morton, father of Toby Morton of Snyder, died Saturday, March 27, in Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Service for Mr. Morton, 87, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church in Wink with Gary Redwine officiating. Interment will follow in the Kermit Cemetery.
Born Nov. 5, 1916 in Eastland, he married Lova Genee Newell on Dec. 5, 1936 in Eastland. Mr. Morton, a cowboy, supported Wink athletics and the Winkler County 4-H Club and was a past member of the Odd Fellows.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Tobe and Nevada Morton; one brother, Raleigh O. Morton; two sisters, Gladys Hensley and Lila Lena Graham; and one grandson, Brett Morton.
Survivors include his wife, Lova Genee Morton of Wink; two other sons, Allen Morton of Stockton, Mo., and Raleigh Morton of Wink; one daughter, Helen Voyles of Wink; two sisters, Folia Mae Jarrett and Celia Ray Beck, both of Eastland; a daughter-in-law Dianne Morton of Snyder; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Tim Klein
1959-2004
Timothy Paul Klein, 45, died Friday, March 19, at his residence in Snyder.
A memorial service is set 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church Chapel under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Henson, pastor, will officiate.
Born March 12, 1959 in Moorehead, Minn., he married Janie Brown on March 9, 1994 in Snyder. He played football and graduated from high school in New England, N.D. He worked as a permit agent for Grant Energy until 1998.
Family visitation is set for 7-8 this evening at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Janie Klein of Snyder; a daughter, LaKrisha Kosler of Snyder; a son, Bradley George of Snyder; his mother and father, Jeanne and Bob Walch of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; a sister, Diane Klein of Williston, N.D.; three brothers and a sister-in-law, James Klein of Williston, Chuck Klein of Lake Elsinore and Bobby and Lynn Klein of New England; two granddaughters, Hannah Kosler and Kaylee Kosler, both of Snyder; four nephews and nieces, Shawn, Mason, Crystal and Audrey, all of Lake Elsinore.
Charlie Morrow
1918-2004
Service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home for Charlie Morrow, 86, of Snyder. The Rev. Lloyd Stice, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate. Masonic burial rites will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Morrow died Friday, March 19, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after a brief illness.
Born on Jan. 16, 1918 in Paint Rock, he married Betty Kimsey McPherson on Sept. 29, 1946 in Sweetwater. Mr. Morrow, an engineer for the State Highway Department for 40 years, was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Hermleigh Masonic Lodge 987, Scottish Rite, and he had served with the Corp of Engineers in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Morrow of Snyder; two daughters, Marsha Lynn Simpson of Arlington and Alice Marjann Morrow of Snyder; a sister, Jewel Riley of Clovis, N.M.; and four grandchildren, Charles Curtis Gardner of Dallas, Heath Allen Gardner of Midland, Michael Kelley McPherson of Lubbock and Samantha Doss of Arlington.
Family visitation will be held from 5-6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Alfonso DeLuna
1964-2004
Alfonso DeLuna of Snyder died March 19, in Lubbock’s University Medical Center.
Service for Mr. DeLuna, 39, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Tom Holcomb, minister of East Side Church of Christ, will officiate.
Born April 30, 1964 in Lawton, Okla., he married Leticia Diaz on Sept. 21, 1990 in Escondido, Calif. Sgt. DeLuna was in the U.S. Marines for 12 years and had served time in Iraq. He was a truck driver for Patterson-UTI Drilling.
Mr. DeLuna lived in California 20 years before moving to Snyder in 2000.
He was a good son, husband and father and enjoyed helping others. He taught his three children to be honest, respectful and to have responsibility and live in the Word of God.
He enjoyed watching and supporting his children in their activities. Working out-of-town much of the time, he would get his wife to record their activities so he would not miss anything they did.
Survivors include his wife, Leticia DeLuna of Snyder; a son, Richard Alfonso DeLuna of the home; two daughters, Selene Dominguez and Priscilla DeLuna, both of the home; his father, Alfonso DeLuna of Wichita Falls; his mother, Carmen DeLuna of Wichita Falls; three brothers, Sonny and Tommy DeLuna, both of Wichita Falls, and Randy Gaitan of Florence, Texas; and one sister, Renee Howery of Wichita Falls.
Family visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mary Bradshaw
1926-2004
SAN ANGELO -- Mary Jane Bradshaw, 77, of San Angelo died Friday, March 19, in her home. Funeral service was to be held at 2 p.m. today at Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Shiell officiating. Interment was to follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Mrs. Bradshaw was born on May 27, 1926 in Rosboro, Ark., to S.H. and Eva Jerusha Bankston Adams. She is survived by her husband, Neal Bradshaw; two daughters, Sherri Watson and husband Joe M. Watson, Terri Ann Parker and husband Gary Parker, both of Alto, N.M.; a sister, Norma Thompson of Snyder; a brother, Jack Adams of Ferriday, La.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary Jane Bradshaw was a very active and successful businesswoman. She was an avid golfer, fisherman and hunter. She was a member of the Bentwood and San Angelo Country Club Golf Association. She owned rental properties, a convenience store and a restaurant. Mary Jane was a very generous and loving person and will be greatly missed.
Contributions may be made to Vista Care Hospice Foundation in honor of the loving care they provided Mary Jane during her illness.
Nell Schrader
1929-2004
VICTORIA -- Nell Young Schrader, former Snyder resident, died Saturday, March 20.
Graveside service for Mrs. Schrader, 74, is set for 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria.
Mrs. Schrader was born on May 5, 1929 in Crosbyton to O.W. and Hazel Young. She owned Lady Nell Tours, Shoreline Group Travel, for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Preceding her in death was her husband of nearly 50 years, E.W. Schrader, who was president of Snyder National Bank during 1970-1974.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert Schrader of San Antonio and Eric and Denise Schrader of Fort Worth; three sisters, Barbara Wilson of Bedford, Dixie Fromberg of Blusston and Joanna George of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel from 6-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Cancer Research Center or the First Baptist Church.
Mr. Armstrong
1919-2004
Emerson Lee Armstrong of Snyder died Sunday, March 21, in Snyder Healthcare Center.
A memorial service for Mr. Armstrong, 84, will be held at 2 p.m. on April 1 in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held in the Stewartsville Cemetery in Stewartsville, Mo.
Born Nov. 23, 1919 in Stewartsville, he entered the Air Force in 1942 and retired in 1963 as a Lt. Colonel. He flew B-25s. Mr. Armstrong taught in El Paso, retiring in 1988. Mr. Armstrong served as presiding elder of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, now known as Community of Christ in El Paso and served as district president of the New Mexico district.
He married Marie Belcher on July 3, 1942 in Las Vegas, Nev. In 1988 they moved from El Paso to Lamoni, Iowa and volunteered their services to the church as guides to a historical home site. He was called to the office of patriarch evangelist.
After moving to Snyder in 1996, Mr. Armstrong had been active in the Senior Citizen Center and the Food Cupboard, singing for many activities.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mona Capparel.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Armstrong of Snyder; one daughter and son-in-law, Joan and George Weber of Denver, Colo.; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Linda Armstrong of Lamoni, Iowa; four grandchildren, Joshua, Margaret, Richard and Jenni Armstrong; and one great-grandson, Ethen Armstrong.
