Fay Seay
1913-2003
Fay Seay, mother of Duane Seay of Snyder, died Wednesday, March 19, in Hospice House of Odessa.
Service for Mrs. Seay, 90, is set for 2 p.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church in Lamesa with the Rev. Ronnie Newton officiating. Burial will follow in the Lamesa Memorial Park.
Born on Jan. 18, 1913 in Rockwall, she married F.M. Seay on Oct. 28, 1933 in Runnels County. He died on March 26, 1996. A member of the First United Methodist Church, she worked at Dotty Dan Garment Factory for many years and the Lamesa Junior High School cafeteria.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mildred JoAnn Seay in 1936.
Survivors also include one daughter, Peggy Adcox of Odessa; two sisters, Gladys Seaborn of Abilene and Janie Gay Wearden of Winters; two brothers, William Clarence Simpson of San Antonio and Ilis Simpson of Winters; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Esther Dabbs
1913-2003
Esther Dabbs, a longtime resident of Snyder, died Thursday, March 20, in Walnut Place Nursing Home in Dallas after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Dabbs, 89, is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday in the East Side Church of Christ. Tom Holcomb, minister, will officiate. Burial will be in the Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
She married Marion Dabbs on Nov. 26, 1937 in Snyder. He served as precinct one Scurry County commissioner from 1961-1972. He died Sept. 3, 1995.
Mrs. Dabbs was a homemaker and a member of the East Side Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gaylon and Terry Dabbs of Dallas; a granddaughter, Andrea Dabbs of Dallas; a grandson and his wife, Damon and Penny Dabbs of Garland; and a great-grandson, Joe Dabbs of Garland.
Ralph Preston
1920-2003
WEATHERFORD -- Ralph Preston, a former Snyder resident, died Wednesday, March 19, at his residence.
Graveside service for Mr. Preston, 82, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Harpersville Cemetery in Breckenridge. Galbreaith Pickard Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Born July 7, 1920 in Ranger, Mr. Preston was an oilfield engineer and worked for Texaco in Snyder in the 1950s. He was a member of Couts Memorial United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doc and Eric Preston; three brothers, Joel Wayne Preston, Dan Preston and Max Preston; and a sister, Mildred Preston.
Survivors include his wife, Tommie Preston of Weatherford; two daughters, Beverly Jacoby of Corpus Christi and Phyllis Slough of Weatherford; a brother-in-law, John Harper and wife Nell of Snyder; a sister-in-law, Barbara Preston of Snyder; two nephews, Ross Preston and Regis Harper, both of Snyder; two nieces, Carla Thompson and Michelle Kuhl, both of Snyder; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Luis Carrisalez
1918-2003
Luis Carrisalez, 84, died Thursday, March 20, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock following a lengthy illness.
Service for Mr. Carrisalez is set for 10 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Father Leo Moras will officiate. Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery.
Rosary is set for 7:30 Sunday evening in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.
A carpenter, Mr. Carrisalez was born on June 21, 1918 in Pennsylvania.
Survivors include five daughters, Maria Rodriguez of Gothamburg, Neb., Janie Villanueva of Littlefield, Alice Foreman of Post, Yolanda Carrisalez and Rachel Rivera, both of Snyder; four sons, Joe Carrisalez, Roy Carrisalez, Jessie Carrisalez and Henry Carrisalez, all of Snyder; one sister, Martha DeLeon of Lubbock; four brothers, Alfredo Carrisalez, Domingo Carrisalez, Lupe Carrisalez, all of Lubbock, and Benito Carrisalez of Grand Prairie; 48 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Elma White
1924-2003
ROBERT LEE -- Elma White, the father of Norman Butcher of Snyder, died Wednesday, March 19, at his home in Pittsburg, Tex.
Graveside service for Mr. White, 78, is set for 3 p.m. Saturday in the Robert Lee Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home.
Born May 18, 1924 in Bronte, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. White was a ran cher and also had worked as a cattle inspector for the state of Texas.
Survivors also include his wife, Dorothea White of Pittsburg; a daughter, Bonnie Stalker of League City; and a sister, Zelma Howard of San Angelo; and two grandchildren.
Glen Kingston
1938-2003
Glen T. Kingston of Borden County died Tuesday, March 18, in University Medical Center in Lubbock following a long illness.
Funeral service for Mr. Kingston, 65, is set for 3 p.m. Sunday in the Myers and Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Big Spring. The Rev. Randy Hardman, pastor of the Gail First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Gail Cemetery.
Born Jan. 24, 1938 in Mitchell County, he moved with his family to Howard County in 1946 and to Borden County in 1950.
He married Judy Doyle on Sept. 6, 1958 in Lamesa. Mr. Kingston lived in Garden City from 1958 until 1994 where he served as a deputy sheriff for 33 years. He also worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He moved to Borden County where he farmed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bonnie and E.S. “Shorty” Kingston; a son, Clay Kingston; a sister, Nell Scott; and a brother, Jimmy Wayne Kingston.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Kingston of Borden County; two sons, Jody Kingston of Frisco and Greg Kingston of Greenwood; two brothers, Bobby Kingston of Visalia, Calif., and Jerold Kingston of Phoenix; two sisters, Pearl Armstrong of Ackerly and Ollie Holmes of Borden County; and five grandchildren.
Mrs. Spence
1917-2003
Ona Mae Spence, longtime Scurry County resident, died Friday, March 21, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Spence, 86, is set for 3:30 p.m. Monday in the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Buddy Payne, pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born March 6, 1917 in Van Zant County, she married Leonard Spence in 1939.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E.T. and Odessa Belle Bishop; three sisters; and two brothers.
Mrs. Spence moved to Scurry County in 1939 and has resided here except for a few years. She returned to Snyder in 1945 and has been a landowner in Scurry County for more than half a century and has been involved in cotton production.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Marshall Spence and Jim Spence and wife Janet, all of Snyder; two daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Bobby Smith of Brownwood and Margaret and George McClone of Lake City, Colo.; two sisters, Lois Varnon of Dallas and Mona Lee Ramsey of Emory; eight grandchildren, Mark Kimmel, Janice Warren, Stephen Kimmel, Ann Scamardo, Dr. Wesley Smith, Allan Smith, Jennifer Seilhant and Brian Spence; 16 great-grandchildren, Paige, Andrew, Ashley and Megan Kimmel, Stephanie and Michael Warren, Kenna, Micah Jo, Rebecca and Seraiah Scamardo, Elizabeth, Michelle, Melissa and Alex Smith, Jayla Seilhant and Ethan Smith.
Other Snyder relatives are Nell Spence, Linda Cozart, Rhylene and Don Stoker and Brooke Mackey.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Velma McMinn
1907-2003
BIG SPRING -- Velma McMinn, a former resident of Polar, died Thursday, March 20, in a Stanton nursing home.
Funeral service for Mrs. McMinn, 95, is set for 2 p.m. Monday in the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home with the Rev. David Harp officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Park.
Born Dec. 13, 1907 in Comanche County, she married Nathan E. McMinn on Sept. 11, 1933 in Big Spring. He died on Dec. 30, 1951. She lived in Polar before moving to Vincent where she farmed and ranched for almost 65 years. She was a member of the Vincent Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Nat McMinn; three sisters, Viola Mitchell, Oleta Burney and Idell Mathews; four brothers, Henry Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Aubrey Mitchell and Jim Mitchell; and her parents, Samuel Daniel and Bertha Mitchell.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law Natha and Wayne Mitchell of Stanton; a sister, Lola Tarbet of Las Cruces, N.M.; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren.
Joy Keller
1927-2004
Joy Fay Keller, a life-long resident of Scurry County, died Sunday, May 2, at her home in Snyder after a sudden illness.
Service for Mrs. Keller, 76, is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday in Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Dave Phillips, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Snyder Cemetery and arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Oct. 6, 1927 in Snyder, she grew up in the Hermleigh area and was a 1945 graduate of Hermleigh High School where she was an all-state guard on the HHS basketball team that played in the state championship game.
She married Raymond Keller on July 31, 1948 in Snyder.
Mrs. Keller had worked for Clark Propane for more than 20 years and also had worked for J.C. Penney and for Stinson Drug. Mrs. Keller also was a longtime secretary for Northside Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Wade Keller on April 2, 1952.
Survivors include her husband, Raymond Keller of Snyder; two sons, Barry Dean Keller of Snyder and Randall Max Keller of Brownwood; three sisters, Jean Blackwell, Geraldine Greene and Connie Green, all of Snyder; two grandsons, Mark Alen Keller and Joshua Ryan Keller, both of Snyder; and a step granddaughter, Nicole Dabney.
The family suggests memorials to the Northside Baptist Church, 1909 26th Street in Snyder.
