Beverly Williams
1913-2003
Beverly Ethel Williams, 89, died Saturday, April 19, in Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born June 24, 1913 in Dilley, she married Vernon Williams on July 4, 1940 in Roswell, N.M.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a resident of Houston.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Williams of Houston and formerly of Scurry County; three sons, Michael Williams and Robert Williams, both of Houston, and Fred Williams of Abilene; and five grandchildren.

Linda Blakely
1932-2003
FORT WORTH – Linda Blakely, the wife of a Snyder native, died Thursday, April 17.
A memorial service for Mrs. Blakely, 64, is set for 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Bridgewood Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 24, 1938 in Fort Worth, she was preceded in death by a son, Brian Blakely, in 1994.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Kenneth Blakely of Fort Worth; two sons, Aubrey Blakely of Dallas and Alan Blakely of Fort Worth; a daughter, Dena Davis of Wylie; a brother Joe Neal Stephenson of Houston; and four grandchildren.
The family suggests memorial to the American Cancer Society or to the American Lung Association.

John Shoemaker
1943-2003
MAUD, Okla. – John C. Shoemaker, the brother of Paula Unruh of Snyder, died Friday, April 18, in Unity North Medical Center in Shawnee, Okla.
Funeral service for Mr. Shoemaker, 59, is set for 2 p.m. Monday in the Maud Church of Christ with Cliff Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Cummings Cemetery under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home.
Born Dec. 31, 1943 in Maud, he had retired after teaching history 29 years at Shawnee High School. A resident of Shawnee, he was a member of the Northridge Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Truman Shoemaker, in 1982; and by three aunts.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Vera and Sam O’Dell of Norman, Okla.; his former wife, Marsha Shoemaker of Techumsch, Okla.; a son, John Shoemaker of Shawnee; a daughter, Mardee Shoemaker of Oklahoma City; two other sisters, Patricia Ann Taylor and Susan Fae Skaggs, both of Norman; two brothers, Sam O’Dell of Pampa and James O’Dell of Norman.

Donna Smith
1949-2003
Donna Marie Smith, a former resident of Scurry County, died Saturday, March 8, in Midland Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Smith, 53, is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Greenwood Baptist Church. John Snider, minister of the Greenwood Church of Christ, and Waymon Swopes, pastor of the Greenwood Baptist Church, will officiate.
A graveside service is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Fluvanna Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Born June 7, 1949 in Colorado City, she was reared in Fluvanna and married Tommy Smith, her childhood sweetheart, on Aug. 24, 1968 in Fluvanna.
Mrs. Smith was food service director and administrative assistant for the Greenwood Independent School District for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by her father, Royce Patterson; her father-in-law, Clyde Smith; and her grandparents, Pearl and R.E. Warren and Vibe and Cora Patterson.
Survivors include her husband, Tommy Smith of Midland; a son and daughter-in -law, Wesley and Misty Smith of Midland; a daughter and son-in-law, Kerri and Scott Pyle of Midland; her mother, Helen Patterson of Snyder; two sisters, Cindy Nix of Snyder and Rhonda Griffey and husband Bill Griffey of Houston; a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Nena Patterson of Cuero; four grandchildren, Derrick, Kamarie and Jordyn Pyle and T.C. Smith.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Hale, Billy Rollins, Emmitt Hataway, Bob Purser, Clifford Shipman and Norvel Vogel. Honorary pallbearers will be Glen Barber, the GISD board of trustees and the school’s cafeteria staff.
The family suggests memorials to the Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621; or to the American Cancer Society.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 7:30 this evening at Ellis Funeral Home.

Joseph Sitton
1917-2003
Joseph Bruce Sitton, the brother of Buck Sitton of Snyder, died Saturday, March 8, in Abilene Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service for Mr. Sitton, 85, is set for 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Kimborough Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Pogue officiating.
Born Dec. 23, 1917 in Marlow, Okla., he married Kathleen Fortenberry on Feb. 5, 1942 in Denver.
While a major in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Sitton was an aerial photographer during World War II.
A member of the Cisco First Baptist Church, Mr. Sitton was owner of Commercial Printing.
Survivors also include his wife, Kay Sitton of Cisco; a daughter, Martha Brown of Abilene; a son, Mike Sitton of Tylertown, Miss.; two sisters, Gladys Bunger of Dallas and Nell Snyder of Seattle; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Minnie Clark
1920-2003
Graveside service for Minnie Laura “Me-Maw” Clark is set for 11 a.m. Thursday in the Snyder Cemetery with Bill Love officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Clark, 82, died Monday, March 10, in Riverside Nursing Home in San Angelo.
Born May 4, 1920 in Hale Center, she married O.E. Clark on Dec. 21, 1946 in Plainview. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Clark moved from Snyder to San Angelo in 1989.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Dowell and Clara Webb McMennamy; and two brothers, Wilson and T.D. McMennamy.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lauren and Gary Floyd of San Angelo; two sisters, Sylbia Norman of Fort Worth and Jean Warren of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Laurie Gavigan of Green Pond, S.C., Kristina Alexander and Kerri Floyd, both of San Angelo; and three great-grandchildren.

Lee Weigel
1928-2003
SEGUIN -- Lee Allen Weigel Jr., a retired Sun Company employee, died Saturday, March 8.
A memorial service for Mr. Weigel, 75, was set for 3 p.m. today in the Palmer Mortuary Chapel in Seguin.
Born Feb. 13, 1928 in Choate, he attended high school in Alice, leaving before graduation to join the Merchant Marines, serving in the Pacific theater during World War II.
In 1948, Mr. Weigel began work for Sun Company, starting as a roughneck and retiring as production foreman of natural gas in 1984. He moved from Robert Lee to Seguin and for the past 17 years he provided guidance to those seeking a new start in life through the Seguin Tri-Party Club.
Survivors include two sons, Tommy Weigel of Austin and Paul Weigel of Seguin; a daughter, Lisa Ann Weigel of New Braunfels; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the Guadalupe Valley Hospital Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.

Joyce Childs
1942-2003
LORAINE -- Joyce Graham Childs, a former resident of Snyder and Ira, died Saturday, March 8, in a Midland hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Childs, 61, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Loraine First Baptist Church. The Rev. Ronnie Skaggs and the Rev. Bryan Waddell will officiate. Burial will follow in the Loraine Cemetery.
Born March 1, 1942 in Loraine, she married Wayne Childs on March 1, 1984 in Big Spring where she had lived before returning to live in Loraine.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Martin; and a grandson, Reno James Martin.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Childs of Loraine; her parents, Elwood and Mable Graham of Loraine; a daughter, Tammy Morrison of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, Steve Fortenberry of Sand Springs and James Martin of San Angelo; three stepsons, John Childs of Midland, James Childs of Houston and Jereld Childs of Seminole, Okla.; a stepdaughter, Tabitha Wilson of Conroe; two sisters, Leona Loyce Franklin of Colorado City and Jean Graham of Lancaster; three brothers, James Graham of Tucson, Ariz., Carl Graham of Colorado City and Tom Graham of Abilene; 11 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren.

Willie Garrison
1916-2003
IRAAN -- W.L. “Willie” Garrison, the brother of Betty Davis of Snyder, died Monday, March 10, in Odessa Regional Hospital
Graveside service for Mr. Garrison, 86, is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in Restland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
Born Nov. 24, 1916 in Birds, Ill., he married Ruby Delz on July 14, 1935.
Mr. Garrison had been the owner of Garrison Contractors in Iraan and Fort Stockton since 1947.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Garrison of Iraan; a daughter, Mikie Kelly of Iraan; another sister, Macie Harvey of Iraan; and a brother, John Garrison of Iraan; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
