Ronny Parker
1947-2004
ROSCOE -- Ronny Lawrence Parker, father of Ronda White of Snyder, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, in Abilene Regional Hospital.
Service for Mr. Parker, 56, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Roscoe Church of Christ with Royce Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Wolf Cemetery.
Born June 30, 1947 in Roscoe, he married Donna Schwartz on Aug. 16, 1969 in Canadian. Mr. Parker, a farmer and a welder, lived in Roscoe most of his life and was a deacon in the Church of Christ. He was a graduate of West Texas State University and taught welding at TSTC for 15 years. Mr. Parker was a past board member of the Inadale Gin and the Farm Bureau.
His father, Walter Tillman Parker; and a brother, Larry Marshall, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Parker of Roscoe; a son and daughter-in-law, Shane and Jewell Parker of Roscoe; a son-in-law, Justin White of Snyder; another daughter, Lisa Parker of Roscoe; a sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Jerry Powell of Midland; and two grandchildren, Riley White of Snyder and Shaundra Parker of Roscoe.
Pallbearers will be Hershel McDonald, Jimmy Hudgins, Manley Hudgins, Ronnie Helm, Gerald Powell and Joe Castleberry.
Memorial may be made to the Children’s Home Fund, Box 307 in Roscoe, 79545 or the Nolan County Livestock Association, Box 1272 in Sweetwater, 79556.
Family visitation will be from 6-7:30 this evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Fuentez
1930-2004
Anastacia Aguilar Fuentez of Snyder died Monday, Feb. 23, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
Service for Mrs. Fuentez, 74, is set for 10 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Fr. Timothy E. Judd will officiate. Burial will follow in Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Rosary will be at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the funeral home.
Born Jan. 22, 1930 in Lubbock, she married Hilario Fuentez on Aug. 17, 1948 in Lubbock. He died Nov. 8, 2002. She also was preceded in death by a son, Miguel Fuentez.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include six daughters, Irene Canales and Anita Medina, both of Snyder, Rosie Martinez of Alice, Carol Barrera of Colorado City, Eva Salcido of Midland, Joanna Stone of Pampa and Tina Molloy of Slidell, La.; six sons, George, Steve, Luis, Johnny, Jimmy and Manuel Fuentez, all of Snyder; four brothers, Juan Aguilar of Johnstown, Colo., Frank, Marcelo and Benito Aguilar, all of Lubbock; two sisters, Margarita Lozano of Lubbock and Josephina Perez of San Angelo; 32 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Alejandro Casarez
1935-2004
Alejandro Valdez Casarez of Snyder died Monday, Feb. 23, in a Lubbock hospital.
Service for Mr. Casarez, 68, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Calvary Baptist Church with J.R. Flores officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Cemetery directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home in Munday.
He was born Sept. 26, 1935 in Corn City and married Juanita Sanchez Feb. 3, 1982 in Haskell. She preceded him in death.
His parents, Ysmael and Guadalupe Casarez; one daughter; and one sister also preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Alex Casarez Jr. and Robert Stephen Casarez, both of Snyder; three daughters, Victoria Alcarez and Nora Ann Alcarez, both of Snyder, and Maggie Casarez of California; two sisters, Lucinda Amaro of Haskell and Olivia Ruiz of California; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and 23 nieces and nephews.

Curlie Daniels
1930-2004
Curlie Mae Daniels, longtime Snyder resident, died Sunday, Feb. 22, in Snyder Healthcare Center.
Graveside service for Mrs. Daniels, 73, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the Snyder Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Born on March 29, 1930, she was married to the Rev. Willie T. Daniels who died Jan. 4, 1982.
Two stepchildren, Edna Lee Lewis and Willie Lee Daniels also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her mother, Celia Pail of Snyder; seven grandchildren including Peyton Daniels of Snyder and Sulovan Daniels of Odessa, and five other grandchildren of Houston; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Dennis
1915-2004
SAN ANGELO -- Mrs. Wiley Bert Dennis passed away on February 23. She was born Dorothy Lee Austin on March 15, 1915 in San Angelo, Texas. Her parents were Rose and Robert Austin. Her maternal and paternal grandparents, the H.R. Rowlands and the J.J. Austins, were among the first citizens of Tom Green County.
She attended schools in San Angelo, graduating from Central High, attending San Angelo Jr. College and San Angelo Business College. Later she attended Texas Tech University.
For five years she was secretary to Louis L. Farr, Jr., Manager of the Sawyer Cattle Company (Bar S Ranch). On September 9, 1938 she married Wiley Bert Dennis and they moved to Pecos County where the Dennis brothers, Jack, Bert and John, had entered into the ranch business. They first leased the Maud S. Kincaid (Saenger) ranch. Bert and Dorothy lived on this ranch for five years and in 1943 purchased a ranch in Borden County from Jack Canning.
Mrs. Dennis was active in all phases of ranch life and community affairs. She did extensive historical research on Borden County ranches and families for the Borden County Historical Society. Several of these papers appeared in historical magazines. She served as president of Altrurian Daughters Club in Snyder and in 1963 was president of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Auxiliary. She worked closely with the Miss Wool of Texas program and was named an honorary member of the Auxiliary. She was always closely associated with the Borden County school activities while her children were in school. She was also a member of the Martin Preuitt, Jr. chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Snyder. She was an avid needlepoint enthusiast and had her own shop in Snyder for eight years and was a member of the American Needlepoint Guild and the Embroiders’ Guild. She was a member of the First Christian Church in San Angelo.
In 1997, Dorothy published her autobiography, “In Pursuit of Happiness.” The book chronicles her memories of life in San Angelo and as a ranch wife in Pecos and Borden Counties.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, in 1995.
She is survived by her children: Steve Dennis and his wife Nancy of Odessa, Joel Dennis and his wife Betty of Borden County, and Lisa Dennis Mahler and her husband Keith of San Angelo. Her four grandsons: Jeff Dennis of Lubbock, Bert Patrick Dennis of Odessa and Andrew Dennis Mahler and Matthew Lee Mahler of San Angelo. And nieces and nephews: Jenny Austin Dietrich of Houston, Colleen Foster Nickum of Tacoma, Washington, Robert Dennis of Bedford, David Dennis of Post, Mary Ann Dennis Awtry of Orange City, Iowas, Jacqui Dennis Whalen of Borden County, and Sally Munn Lacy of Water Valley.
The family wishes to thank Tina Huro and Marie Castro for their love and caring spirit during the last month of Dorothy’s life.
Family visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 Tuesday at Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Service: Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 25, in Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ben Hubert and Karen Schmeltekoph officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Canon, Mickey McMeans, Frank Beaver, Carl Dillaha, Rich Anderson, Bill Sims and Bill Nickum.
Memorials may be made to the Borden County Cemetery Fund, the Borden County EMS, the Borden County Historical Museum, Hope House of San Angelo, Hospice of San Angelo, or First Christian Church in San Angelo.

Beth Kea
1919-2004
DE LEON -- Vesta Elizabeth “Beth” Kea, a former Snyder resident, died Friday, Feb. 20, in a De Leon hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Kea, 84, was held Sunday in the Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the De Leon Cemetery.
Born Aug. 2, 1919 in Desdemona, she married Wayne Kea on Sept. 10, 1938 in De Leon.
She was a long-time resident of De Leon and was a retired nurse and a member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Kea; two brotherw, Webb Golden and Jader Golden; and one sister, Christine Brewer.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Kea of De Leon; two sons, Gene Kea of Eastland and Jack Kea of Tyler; two brothers, Seborn Golden of De Leon and Jack Golden of Comanche; a sister, Frances Gilchrest of Sidney; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

John Sneed
1919-2004
John A. Sneed of Fluvanna died Friday, Feb. 20, in Snyder Oaks Care Center.
Funeral service for Mr. Sneed, 84, is set for 2 p.m. Monday in the Wright Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Fluvanna Cemetery.
Born July 26, 1919 in Wingate, he married Hazel White Morris on July 19, 1984 in Roby.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Louie Holder Sneed; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Sneed of Fluvanna; a daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Tip Baker of Fluvanna; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ron and Barb White of Arlington and J.B. and Patty White of Capitan, N.M.; a brother, Hassie Sneed of Dermott; a sister, Ione Baughn of Snyder; four grandchildren, Melanie Hoover of Arlington, Jay Martin of Bastrop, Mark Martin of San Angelo and Jason White of Capitan; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Sue Walker
1918-2004
Sue Ella Bentley Walker, a former resident of Snyder, died Thursday, Feb. 19, in Dallas.
Graveside service for Mrs. Walker, 85, will be held at 1.30 p.m. Sunday in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Walker was born in 1918 in Claude and attended elementary school near Slaton and graduated from Union High School.
In the late 1930s she went to work in El Paso, where she met Raymon J. “Red” Walker. They were married Nov. 30, 1941. When Pearl Harbor was attacked, she and her husband moved to San Diego where he enlisted in the Navy. Mrs. Walker worked in San Diego while he was stationed there, then moved to Bayonne, N.J., where she worked at the Military Freight Depot in Bayonne while he made 14 Atlantic crossings, including the D-Day landing at Normandy.
Mrs. Walker’s husband was discharged in 1945 and went to work for Texaco that required sometimes moving twice in a year throughout West Texas. They resided in Snyder from 1954 to 2000. Mrs. Walker operated Snyder Reproductions, a blueprint business, in the garage behind her home. She was a Girl Scout leader, a docent of the Scurry County Museum at Western Texas College, and leader of the senior citizens aquatic exercise group at the college. She was a longtime member of Colonial Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Red Walker; a son and daughter-in-law, James and Lynn Walker; two daughters and sons-in-law, Molly and Michael Droge, and Amber and Eric Devlin; two grandsons, Matthew and Owen Walker of Virginia; two step-grandsons, Matthew and Michael Devlin of New York; two sisters, Anne Fails of El Paso and Neva Longenecker of Keller; and many nieces and nephews.
