Fay Beights
1942-2004
SWEETWATER -- Fay Nell Beights, a former resident of Snyder, died Saturday, Feb. 7, in Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Beights, 61, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Orvel Brantley officiating. Burial will follow in the Loraine Cemetery.
Born March 12, 1942 in Flatonia, Mrs. Beights was a graduate of Colorado City High School in 1961. The same year on Oct. 6 she married Frank Beights in Cuthbert.
She earned an associate degree in business management from Western Texas College and worked for Sweetwater Electric until her retirement in 1997. She lived in Sweetwater from 1964 to 1969 when she moved to Snyder and then returned to Sweetwater in 1993. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Snyder.
She was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Sanford Beights in 1982; her father, R.B. Treadway in 1985; and by her mother, Mary Spence Treadway in 2001.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Beights of Sweetwater; five brothers, Chester Treadway of Rush Springs, Okla., Bill Treadway of Roscoe, Kenneth Treadway of Medford, Ore., O.D. Treadway of Avery, and R.B. Treadway of White City, Ore.

Marie Stanfield
1926-2004
Reva Marie Stanfield died Friday, Feb. 6, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a short illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Stanfield, 77, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Miller Robinson, retired Baptist minister, will officiate.
Born Aug. 10, 1926 in Saline County, Mo., to William and Mary LaRose, she married Robert Lee “Bob” Stanfield on Aug. 20, 1948. They resided in Marshall, Mo., prior to making their home in Snyder where they were partners with John and Evelyn Thomas in the Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth and Hondo motorcycle dealership.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; one sister, Wilma Bryan; and two brothers, Warren and Paul LaRose.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Stanfield of Snyder; two sons, Bruce Stanfield of Snyder and Terry Stanfield of Houston; one stepdaughter, Sherry Twyman of Prairie Village, Kan.; one sister, Evelyn Thomas of Marshall, Mo. and formerly of Snyder; two brothers, Ralph LaRose of Independence, Mo., and Bill LaRose of Prairie Village, Kan.; two grandsons, Christopher and Jeffrey Stanfield, both of Snyder; one granddaughter, Terra Stanfield Seidel of Crawfordsville, Ind.; one stepgrandson, Matt Twyman, one step great-grandson, Luke Twyman, both of Des Peres, Mo.; and one step granddaughter, Emily Twyman of Prairie Village, Kan.

Cody Griswold
1961-2004
GREENVILLE -- Cody Griswold, the brother of Jimmy Griswold of Snyder, died Saturday, Feb. 7.
Funeral service for Mr. Griswold, 42, is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Peters Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Tidwell Cemetery.
Born in Brawley, Calif., he lived in Garland and was a former resident of Odessa. Mr. Griswold was a fiber optics engineer and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Malea Griswold of Garland; a son, Thomas Cody Griswold of Garland; a daughter, Nikki Griswold of Garland; his mother, Lysta Griswold of Odessa; and his father, Bill Griswold of Goliad.

Ed Booker
1951-2004
MIDLAND -- Edward Arnold Booker, a former student at Western Texas College, died Thursday, Feb. 5, at his home in Midland.
A memorial service for Mr. Booker, 53, was held Saturday at the North A Street Church of Christ in Midland. Arrangements were under the direction of Nalley-Pickel and Welch Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 2, 1952 in Midland to Mary Frances and Earl Booker, he attended schools in Midland before earning an associate of arts degree from Western Texas College. He then earned a bachelor of science degree from the University of Houston. He was employed with the Texas Railroad Commission.
Mr. Booker was a certified ombudsman for the Permian Basin Area Agency on Aging and taught computer classes at the Ideal Family Center. He returned to Midland in 1997 and was a member of the North A Street Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a brother Earl D. Booker Jr.
Survivors include his mother, Mary Booker of Midland; a son, Robert Lathan of Lubbock and a daughter LaVinya Coleman of Dallas; two sisters, Patricia Holt and Sandra Brumbaugh; a brother, Brian Booker; and one granddaughter.

Thelma Northcutt
1917-2004
LEVELLAND -- Thelma Northcutt, the mother of Gary Northcutt of Snyder, died Friday, Feb. 6, at Covenant Hospital in Levelland.
Funeral service for Mrs. Northcutt, 86, was set for 2 p.m. today in the First Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Malcolm Bolger, Michael Pigg and Mike Davis officiating. Burial was to follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery under the direction of Geo. C. Price Funeral Directors.
Born June 4, 1917 in Fannin County. She married the Rev. Claude Northcutt on Dec. 24, 1938 in Durant, Okla.
Mrs. Northcutt moved from Hereford to Levelland in 1959 and retired after 20 years working in the food service department at Levelland Junior High. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Levelland.
Survivors include another son, Wayne Northcutt of Levelland; two daughters, Carol Ruthardt of Morton and Beth Young of Bethany, Okla.; a sister, Faye Northcutt of Temple; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Ford
1912-2004
Thelma Ford, 91, of Snyder died Saturday, Feb. 7, in Snyder Oaks Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Service for Mrs. Ford, longtime Snyder resident, has been set for 2 p.m. Monday in Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Nov. 28, 1912 in Summerville County, she married Kermit George Ford on Nov. 29, 1930 in Scurry County. He died in November 1995. Mrs. Ford worked for Snyder Laundry for 25 years. She was a member of Avenue D Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Don Ford in 1987; two brothers, Buck and Henry Layne; and two sisters, Virginia Huddleston and Mattie Hobbs.
Survivors include two daughters, JoAnn Holladay and Kay Hickman, both of Snyder; two sons, Weldon Ford of Tuscola and Leon Ford of Midland; two sisters, Luella Looney of Canton and Anna Belle Stewart of Groverton; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Jo Nokes
1928-2004
MIDLAND -- Jo Nokes, a longtime resident of Midland, Texas went home to be with the Lord Saturday, January 31, 2004 in Midland.
She was born December 9, 1928 in Vernon, Texas to Everett and Callie Wyatt. Jo graduated high school in Conroe, Texas where she enjoyed many activities, especially being captain of the drill team. She was also very active in her church while growing up. Jo had a great love for the outdoors and she loved to hunt and fish with her family. She had a second home on Lake Amistad in Del Rio where she loved spending time. She was an avid rock collector, so much so that she would pack her finds and move them with her.
Jo was an excellent homemaker and she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She was also an excellent seamstress and as her sons were growing up, she sewed many of their clothes. Jo enjoyed needlepoint and crocheting, and in recent years, she crocheted baby blankets and donated them to battered women’s shelters.
Jo was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and her husband Johnny Preston Nokes Sr. in 1997.
She is survived by her sons, Johnny Preston Nokes Jr. and his wife Gale, and Ray F. Nokes and his wife Linda, six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her sister Marie Lee; her uncle, T.C. Wyatt; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Douglas Lamb officiating with interment at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. In Midland.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice of Midland, P.O. Box 2621, Midland, TX 79702.

Ralph Eades
1926-2004
Ralph Eades, longtime Snyder resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, in Covenant Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock after a sudden illness.
Funeral service for Mr. Eades, 77, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the East Side Church of Christ with Tom Holcomb, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunn Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born on Feb. 12, 1926 in Snyder, he married Betty Jo Crabtree on Nov. 25, 1948 in Snyder. She died Sept. 10, 1998. Mr. Eades was retired after 33 years with Sun Oil Co. where he was a mechanic. He also retired from Wal-Mart in September, 2003, after 13 years service.
His parents, John and Drucilla Belle Eades, two sisters and 10 brothers preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Eades of Colorado City; a son and daughter-in-law, Ricky and Diane Eades of San Angelo; five grandchildren and their spouses, Clay and Kassandra Eades of Colorado City, Becky and Robert Garza of Wichita Falls, Amy Eades and Leslie Eades, both of Colorado City; and Megan Eades of San Angelo; and three great-grandsons, Keelan and Keegan Eades of Colorado City and Mason Garza of Wichita Falls.
Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorials to the West Texas Rehab Center, 4601 Hartford St. in Abilene, 79605.

Gail Duckworth
1955-2004
LUBBOCK -- Gail Dawn Duckworth, a Snyder High School graduate, died Monday, Feb. 2, at her home in Lubbock.
Funeral service for Mrs. Duckworth, 48, is set for 2 p.m. Friday in the Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel with Rev. Harry Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 15, 1955 in Colorado City to Louis “Suede” and Ruby Alexander, she graduated from Snyder High School in 1973.
She married Dennis Duckworth on Jan. 25, 1984 in Seminole. They moved to Lubbock in 1999 where she became an active member of the Coronado Neighborhood Association. She was a homemaker and helped her husband in their business.
She was preceded in death by her father; her brother, Michael Wayne Alexander; and uncles, Jack and Hardy Alexander.
Surviving are her husband, Dennis Duckworth of Lubbock; two daughters, Angela and Sara Duckworth of the home; and a son, Clint Duckworth, also of the home; her mother, Ruby Alexander of Snyder; a brother, Pat Alexander of Snyder; a sister, Ruth Montgomery of Deer Park; two aunts, Jimmy Ruth Angel of Fort Worth and Louise Prater of McAllen; an uncle, Mike Alexander of Pasadena; six cousins; five nieces; three nephews; three great-nephews; and one great-niece.
