Villanueva
Infant
Graveside service for Augustine Raul Villanueva, infant of Gabriel and Olga Villanueva of Snyder, was set for 10 a.m. today in Snyder Cemetery.
Officiating will be Deacon Frank Ortegon. Arrangements are under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Augustine was stillborn Tuesday, April 20, in University Medical Center in Lubbock.
Also surviving are three sisters, Jessica Medrano, Jasmine Medrano and Anjelica Lopez, all of Snyder; three brothers, Johnathan Medrano, Jessie Medrano and Johnathan Tartar, all of Snyder; maternal grandmother, Elida Rodriguez of Victoria; maternal grandfather, Ector Rodriguez of Snyder; and paternal great-grandparents, Raul and Margarita Villanueva.

Jane Ann McCarty
1964-2000
Funeral service for Jane Ann McCarty, 36, is set for 11 a.m. Saturday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jim Mosley, retired Baptist minister, and the Rev. Kenneth Martin, pastor of the Ira First Baptist Church, will officiate.
Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Miss McCarty died Monday, July 31, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness.
Born June 22, 1964 in Colorado City, she attended Snyder schools, WTC and is a graduate of St. Joseph’s School of Vocational Nursing. She had worked closely with hospice and had been a nurse at the Heart of West Texas Home Care in Colorado City for seven years. An LVN, Miss McCarty also had worked at Cogdell Memorial Hospital and Big Spring State Hospital.
Survivors include her parents, Leland and Jane McCarty of Snyder; a brother and sister-in-law, Ricky Don and Sharon McCarty of Slaton; another brother, Steven L. McCarty of Texas City; a niece, Cristi McCarty of Slaton; and a nephew, Wesley McCarty, also of Slaton.
Lunch for the family will be at 1 p.m. at the Ira Baptist Church.

Ila Bee Mitchell
1913-2000
SEMINOLE – Ila Bee Mitchell, a native of Scurry County, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, in Seminole Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Mitchell, 87, is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Hawkins, former pastor, officiating.
Graveside service is set for 3 p.m. Thursday in the Snyder Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ratliff Funeral Home.
Born Feb. 1, 1913 in Scurry County, she graduated from Snyder High School and attended Texas Tech University and later became a teacher. During World War II, she worked with the USO.
She married J.D. Mitchell on June 3, 1935 in Lubbock. The Mitchells moved to Seminole in 1946. Mr. Mitchell died in 1972.
She was a member of the Seminole First Baptist Church and was active in the missions program. She also was a member of the Seminole Garden Club and the Seminole Study Club.
Mrs. Mitchell also was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Periman; and six sisters, Lena Pierce, Ogla Spain, Ester Bell, Pearl Nance, Grace King and Vera Holsinger.
She is survived by four sisters-in-law, Arless Periman of Amarillo, Oleta Mitchell and Gladys Williams, both of Snyder, and Ethelynn Mitchell of Lamesa; and many nieces and nephews.

Mildred Green
1902-2000
HASKELL – Mildred Louise Green, a former resident of Snyder, died Tuesday, Aug. 1 in a Haskell nursing home.
Funeral service for Mrs. Green, 98, was set for 4 p.m. today in the First Christian Church with Dusty Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Cemetery.
Born in Haskell, she attended Texas Christian University and was married to Jesse Ray Green who preceded her in death.
A resident of Snyder for 24 years, she was a member of the First Christian Church.
Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews.

Izetta Dial
1904-2000
SWEETWATER – Izetta Dial, the mother of Bobbye Mason of Hermleigh, died Monday, July 31, in the Holiday Retirement Center.
Graveside service for Mrs. Dial, 96, is set for 9 a.m. Wednesday in the Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan. Jay and Ollie Dial will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home.
Born April 25, 1904 in Dowell, Tex., she married Ollie Dial on June 25, 1927. He died on March 9, 1972. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Reaves; and a stepson, Odell Dial.
A homemaker, Mrs. Dial was a member of the Ave. B Church of Christ.
Survivors also include a son, O.D. Dial of Sweetwater; a stepdaughter-in-law, Ina Dial of San Antonio; a sister, Frankie Dodd of Rotan; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Valerianna Lopez
1941-2000
Valerianna Lopez, 59, died Thursday, Aug. 3, at her home following a lengthy illness.
Rosary for Mrs. Lopez, a homemaker, is set for 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the Wright Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass for Mrs. Lopez is set for 2 p.m. Sunday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Leo Moras, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Born April 14, 1941 in New Braunfels, she married Faustino Lopez on Aug. 31, 1953 in Snyder.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one daughter.
Survivors include her husband, Faustino Lopez of Snyder; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jose and Gloria Lopez, Miguel and Anita Lopez and Alex Lopez, all of Snyder; six daughters and five sons-in-law, Lucia and Jeff Delapaz of Sweetwater, Rosa and Juan Hernandez, Virginia and Adan Flores, Christina Dominguez and Juan, and Yolanda Lowry, all of Snyder, and Andrea and Russ Henzler of Matador; three brothers, George Gutierrez and Leon Gutierrez, both of Snyder, and Daniel Gutierrez of San Angelo; four sisters, Matilda Guzman, Lucia Garcia, Janie Alverado and Lillie Hernandez, all of Snyder; 23 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Maxell Porter
1933-2000
Maxell Porter, 66, died Friday, Aug. 4, in Snyder Oaks Care Center.
Services are pending with McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Born Aug. 23, 1933, his wife preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Darla Stevenson of Odessa.

Rev. T.O. Upshaw
1921-2000
On Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, the Rev. Therman O. (T.O.) Upshaw went home to be with our Lord.
He was born on Nov. 20, 1921 to William B. and Ora Upshaw in Roby, Texas.
He married Georgie Ruben on Oct. 18, 1941 at Cross Roads Baptist Church in Rotan, Texas.
He enlisted in the Air Force in 1943 and served in World War II.
He graduated from Hardin-Simmons University and attended the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He pastored churches in Hobbs, Lefors and Pampa, Texas. He then became the Director of Missions of the Double Mountain Baptist Association in which his office was in Stamford, Texas.
Rev. Upshaw served on the executive board of Texas Baptists and on the board of the Plains Baptist Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
He was founder of Church Builders and from 1971-1997 a total of 47 buildings and churches were completed in Texas, Wyoming, Montana, Minnesota, Colorado, California, Washington, Michigan, Kansas and in Mexico.
Rev. Upshaw also served as senior adult minister of the Snyder First Baptist Church and he served as interim pastor during the remodeling phase of First Baptist Church in Snyder.
He is survived by his wife, Georgie of Snyder; a son and daughter-in-law, Freddy and Cheryl Upshaw of Dimmitt, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Terry Pittman of Pampa, Texas; and a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Russell Johnson of Midland; seven grandchildren, Dusty Upshaw, Cody Upshaw, Amy Lovvorn, Scott Lovvorn, Taylor Johnson, Travis Johnson and Trevor Johnson; and four great-grandchildren, Macee Upshaw, Tylor McDonald, Cade Upshaw and Brady Upshaw.
He also is survived by one brother, Preston Upshaw of Ransom Canyon; and one sister, Wilda Mize of Brownwood.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Shirley Ann Upshaw, in her infancy; and two brothers, Eugene Upshaw of Fort Stockton and Elton Upshaw of Rotan.
The family would like to thank all their friends and family, and the medical staff in Colorado City who gave so much love and support during this most difficult time.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Snyder. Officiating will be the Rev. Tony Gruben of First Baptist Church in Paint Rock; The Rev. Benny Mize of First Baptist Church in Donie; Dr. Marty Akins, former pastor of First Baptist Church in Snyder; and Dr. James R. “Dick” Maples of the Texas Baptist General Convention.
Burial will be in the Belvieu Cemetery in Rotan under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
