Willie Olivo

Services are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home for Willie Olivo, 28, of Snyder.
Mr. Olivo died Friday evening in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
He was born on Sept. 1, 1972 in San Marcos. Mr. Olivo worked as a roofer and was a member of the Church on the Rock in Snyder.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Alberto Rodriquez Sr. in 1986.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Polly and Richard Salazar of Snyder; his father, Ruben Olivo Sr. of Detroit; one daughter, Paula Aguilar of Snyder; a sister, Patricia Rodriquez of Snyder; and two brothers, Ruben Olivo Jr. of Fort Hood and Albert Rodriquez Jr. of Snyder; a stepsister, Eva Burnham of Wichita Falls.
Michael Alexander
1945-2001
BAYTOWN -- Michael Wayne Alexander of Baytown, brother of Pat Alexander of Snyder, died Friday, March 16, after a lengthy illness.
Services for Mr. Alexander, 56, are pending at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown.
He was born March 14, 1945 in London, England.
He was preceded in death by his father, Louis “Swede” Alexander of Snyder, on June 5, 1997.
Other survivors include his wife, Sharon Alexander of Baytown; two daughters, Brandie Alexander of Baytown and Jennifer Paige Alexander of Craig, Colo.; his mother, Ruby Alexander of Snyder; two sisters, Ruth Montgomery of Deer Park and Gail Duckworth of Lubbock; five nephews; six nieces; one great-nephew; and one great-niece.
Donna Blair
1952-2001
Donna “D.J.” Blair, a resident of Snyder the past four years, died Sunday, March 18, in Snyder Healthcare Center following a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Blair is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry McAden, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, will officiate. Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lindsey Cemetery in Fannin County.
Born Jan. 17, 1952 in Dallas, Mrs. Blair had lived in Dallas most of her life before moving to Snyder. She worked for Owens-Corning in Dallas. She was a Baptist and an avid motorcyclist.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Moorman in 1988.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Jewel and Oscar Haney of Snyder; a daughter, Shonna Blair of Lubbock; a sister, Connie Robbins of Snyder; and a brother-in-law, Lee Robbins of Odessa.
Edna Clift
1906-2001
Edna R. Clift of San Angelo, former longtime Hermleigh resident, died Monday, March 19, at Heritage House in San Angelo after a lengthy illness.
Graveside service for Mrs. Clift, 94, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hermleigh Cemetery, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born on May 18, 1906 in Bonham, she married Claude Vance Clift on June 14, 1936 in Bonham. He died on May 5, 1996. A former teacher for Hermleigh ISD, she had lived in San Angelo for 1˝ years. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Bonham and attended the Hermleigh United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Eastern Star.
She was also preceded in death by four brothers; two sisters; and a brother-in-law.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Fred De La Cruz of San Angelo; a son, Jerry Clift, of San Angelo; four grandchildren and spouses, Shelley and Ron Hansen of Los Angeles; Shane and Laura McKenzie of San Angelo, Nathan and Candice De La Cruze of Austin and Camille De La Cruz of Austin and five great-grandchildren; Stephen, Nikki, Kameron and Keanu Hansen of Los Angeles and Tori McKenzie of Maryland.
Sibyl Bailey
1919-2001
Sibyl L. Bailey, the mother of Nomi Almquest of Dunn, died Friday, March 16.
Graveside service for Mrs. Bailey, 81, were held Sunday in the Belvieu Cemetery in Fisher County with the Rev. Norman Burgess officiating.
Born Sept. 2, 1919 in Eastland County, she moved from Rotan to Odessa in 1956. She was a seamstress for Levi Strauss and was a member of the Crescent Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Gene Stevenson of Roby; another daughter, Jo Rodgers of Odessa; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Gene McClurg
1935-2001
KILLEEN – Dr. Gene R. McClurg, former Western Texas College dean, died Wednesday, March 14, in a Killeen hospital.
Services for Dr. McClurg, 65, were held Saturday in the First Baptist Church in Killeen with the Rev. Randy Wallace officiating, cremation followed.
Born Sept. 13, 1935 in New Mexico, he was reared in El Paso. He earned his B.S. degree from Texas Western College and his advanced degrees from Texas A&M University.
A U.S. Air Force veteran, he worked for the El Paso public schools, Odessa College and GTE in San Angelo before joining the faculty of WTC in 1974.
He was dean of occupational education and taught electronics, applied physics, math, computer programming and aviation ground school.
In 1982, he joined the staff of TSTI in Sweetwater and later taught for Texas Tech, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Arizona and at New Mexico State University.
In Snyder, he was a Goldcoater, a member of the Industrial Foundation, Heart Association and Rotary Club.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara McClurg of Copperas Cove; two daughters, Terri Robles of Odessa and Kimberly Parris of Austin; two stepsons, James Holdampf of Big Spring and Barry Holdampf of Salado; three stepdaughters, Sheri Rountree of Sheridan, Wyo., Christine Yengst of Austin and Danette Stallings of Marble Falls; and 14 grandchildren.
Lula Metcalf
1913-2001
Funeral service for Lula Viola Boyd Metcalf of Big Spring is set for 3 p.m. Friday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry White, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery.
Mrs. Metcalf, 87, died Friday, March 16, in University Medical Center in Lubbock after a sudden illness.
Born May 31, 1913 in Rogers, Mrs. Metcalf was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Jerry Metcalf in 1977 in China, Tex.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter Boyd in 1968; three brothers, Milton, Bill and Leroy Strickland.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Metcalf of Big Spring; two sons, Billy Don Boyd of Beaumont and Ruel Lynn Metcalf of Las Vegas, Nev.; two daughters, Rena Beth Lee of Wichita Falls and Rhonda Mulholland of Portland, Ore.; two sisters, Elnora Clark of Snyder and Lorene Snyder of Odessa; one brother, David Strickland of Chandler; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
Family visitation will be held from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home.
Freddie Roberts
1956-2001
LEVELLAND – Freddie Roberts, the brother of Mike Roberts of Snyder, died Monday, March 19, in Lubbock.
Funeral service for Mr. Roberts, 44, is set for 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Geo. C. Price Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Cothrin officiating. Burial will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery.
Born May 5, 1956 in Levelland, he attended Levelland schools and married Anita Trayler on Feb. 13, 1990 in Levelland.
A lifelong resident of Levelland, Mr. Roberts was manger of T&B Well Service.
Survivors also include his wife, Anita Roberts of Levelland; three sons, Joe, Michael and Jody Roberts, all of Levelland; three daughters, Terry, LaShea and Shasta Roberts, all of Levelland; his parents, Billy Joe and LaRaina Roberts of Levelland; and a sister, Rhonda Wallace of Hobbs, N.M.
Betty Bickley
1929-2001
DALLAS – Betty Bickley, the sister of Mary Lou Scott of Snyder, died Saturday, March 17, at her home in Dallas.
Funeral service for Mrs. Bickley, 71, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Wheatland United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the DFW National Cemetery.
Mrs. Bickley was preceded in death by her husband, Rankin Bickley, and a brother-in-law, Troy Scott, both who died from injuries sustained in an automobile accident last January in Dallas.
Born Aug. 4, 1929 in Dallas, she was a graduate of Sunset High School and attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, graduating in 1950 with a degree in music. She earned a master’s in elementary education from North Texas State University.
She turned d own offers to play in an orchestra and band and instead taught band for one year in Farmersville. She spent the next 39 years with the Dallas ISD. She also played trumpet with the Oak Cliff Symphony Orchestra.
