COLORADO CITY – A memorial service for Daytina Rhea Blair Hulslander, a former Snyder resident, is set for 6 p.m. Saturday in the Oak Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Hulslander had been missing since April, 1998 and her remains were found southeast of Midland last Feb. 28.
Born Aug. 21, 1971, she was a resident of Colorado City when she was reported missing.
She was preceded in death by her father, Rodney “Rocky” Blair; her grandparents, Paul and Corienne “Janie” Makurin and Louis and Louise Blair; and her aunt, Paula Alberts.
Survivors include three sons, Dakota Cliff Blair, Kenneth Aaron Blair and Randall Todd Blair, all of Colorado City; two daughters, Corienna Deann Hulslander and Dreamer Cathlynn Hulslander, both of Mildand; her mother, Elfie Ratliff of Colorado City; her brother, Todd White of Kermit; her aunts, Lunita Fryer of Big Spring and Louise Richardson of Austin; four nieces, Danni Lee and Samantha White, both of Colorado City, Summer White of Hermleigh and Catrina Rich of Kermit; two nephews, Buddy White and Terry Rich, both of Kermit.
Other special survivors are Dianne Nelson and Debbie Yandrich, both of Big Spring; Dorothy Loyd, Gabby Scott and Dianna Ballard, all of Snyder; Paula Alberts, Shirley Smith, Mary Riley and Tommy and Jane Cooper, all of Colorado City; Perry Keith Donnell and Ronnie Sumerald, both of Midland.
Eula Maupin
1923-2001
DEMING, N.M. -- Eula Virginia Maupin, former Ira resident, died Tuesday, March 20, in Mimbrea Memorial Nursing Home in Deming.
Graveside service for Mrs. Maupin, 77, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the Ira Cemetery under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born May 17, 1923 in Ira to E.D. and Una Jones Holdren, she was a 1942 graduate of Ira High School. She married I.E. “Red” Maupin on April 14, 1955 in the Knapp Baptist Church and lived in Ira until 1980.
She resided in Ranger from 1980 to 1994 when she moved to Deming. Mrs. Maupin was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Red Maupin; two sisters, Ila Cox and Lola Huddleston; and by five brothers, Lewis, Delmer, Onice, Roy and J.W. Holdren.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Jay Yates of Deming; one sister, Ellie Brown of Midland; and three grandchildren, Amber, Ira and Zay Yates of Deming.
Family visitation is set from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
A pot-luck dinner will be held at the Ira Baptist Church following the service.
Pallbearers will be Bud House, Corky Kruse, Robert Irwin, Bobby Stokes, Tommy Sterling, Darryl Calley and Lance Autrey.
Katharine Williams
1917-2001
Katharine Williams died Saturday, Aug. 25, in Snyder Oaks Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Williams, 84, was set for 2 p.m. today in Wright Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Raymond A. Dunkins, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, was to officiate. Burial was to follow in Snyder Cemetery.
Born March 13, 1917 in Dallas, she married John Henry Williams in 1948 in Carlsbad, N.M. He died Jan. 8, 1983.
A homemaker, Mrs. Williams was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; and three sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Pearline Randle of Chickasha, Okla., and Audrey Brown-Worthy of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Rudy Norwood
1932-2001
Rudolph Harold Norwood, a resident of Dunn, died Sunday, Aug. 26, in the Veteran Administration Hospital in Big Spring after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mr. Norwood, 68, is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Norman Burgess, pastor of the Dunn Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Dunn Cemetery.
Born Dec. 9, 1932 in Tallahassee, Fla., he married Renee Nail on Sept. 24, 1968 in Big Spring.
A member of the Dunn Baptist Church, Mr. Norwood was an auto mechanic in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Renee Norwood of Dunn; three daughters, Debbie Cargill of Mountain Home, Ark., Christi Adkins of Colorado City and Carla Norwood of Snyder; four sons, Rudy Norwood Jr. of Odessa, Colton Norwood of Sand Springs, Charles Norwood of Magnolia and Matt Taggart of Abilene; two sisters, Rou Meil Greene and Jean Shields, both of Tallahassee; a brother, Morris Norwood of Tallahassee; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 this evening at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mardell Winter
1911-2001
Frank Mardell Winter, longtime Snyder resident, died this morning in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services for Mr. Winter, 89, are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Winter was born on Oct. 21, 1911 in Merkel. He married Nora Nell Smith on Dec. 17, 1933 in Snyder. He was a retired farmer and a member of East Side Church of Christ.
Milton Winter, a brother, preceded him in death on Dec. 26, 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Nell Winter of Snyder; a daughter, Marie Ball of Snyder; a brother, Tommy Winter of Las Vegas, Nev.; two granddaughters, Donna Freeman of Fort Worth and Lisa Ball of Colorado City; two great-grandsons; and three nephews, Tom Winter of San Angelo, Mickey Winter and Ted Winter, both of Snyder.
Buster Lewis
1910-2001
COLORADO CITY –J.M. “Buster” Lewis, a former Scurry County resident, died Saturday, Aug. 25, in a Colorado City hospital.
Graveside service for Mr. Lewis, 91, was held Sunday in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Born March 14, 1910 in El Reno, Okla., He married Laura Banks on Nov.15, 1941 in Snyder. A resident of Loraine, Mr. Lewis had been a Mitchell County farmer and rancher since 1940.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gabe and Martha Lewis; three brothers, Roy Gabe Lewis, Melvin Lewis and Stanley Lewis; and one grandson, Stetson Lewis.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Lewis of Colorado City; two sons, Laddie Lewis of Colorado City and Quail Dobbs of Coahoma; a daughter, Brenda Hammond of Burnet; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Santa Gonzales
1939-2001
ODESSA – Santa Rios Gonzales, the mother of Esme Olvera of Snyder, died Friday, Aug. 24, in Medical Center Hospital.
Services for Mrs. Gonzales, 61, are pending at Odessa Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 26, 1939 in Sanderson, she was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, Ramon T. Gonzales of Fort Stockton; four other daughters, Sally Picharado and Anna Rodriguez, both of Carlsbad, N.M., Martha Rodriguez and Olga Amparon, both of Fort Stockton; her mother, Antonia Rios of Fort Stockton; five brothers, Fidel Rios, Tonis Rios, Juan Rios, Lucio Rios and Leno Rios, all of Fort Stockton; five sisters, Modesta Rios of El Paso, Alejandra Lopez, Nieves Celaya, Maria Rios and Elvira Feyry, all of Fort Stockton; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Johnny Huddleston

CHARLESTON, Ark. – Johnny Weldon Huddleston Jr., the nephew of Billy Don Huddleston of Snyder, died Friday, Aug. 24, in Paris Hospital.
Funeral service for Mr. Huddleston, 41, was set for 10 a.m. today in the Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston. Burial was to follow in the Garden of Memories.
He was preceded in death by his father, Johnny Weldon Huddleston Sr., on May 27, 2001.
Survivors include his mother, Clyde Mae Huddleston of Caulksville, Ark.; a sister, Christy Dawn Huddleston of Paragould, Ark., and another uncle, Wayland Huddleston of San Angelo and formerly of Snyder.
Ann Lisko
1966-2001
TAHLEQUAH, Okla. – Ann Lisko, the sister of Janie Klien of Snyder, died Friday, Aug. 24, in Tulsa, Okla.
Funeral service for Mrs. Lisko is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Hart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Niblett officiating.
Born Feb. 15, 1966 in Odessa, she married Bobby Lisko on June 13, 1988 in Mt. Home, Ark.
A homemaker, she was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Doris Eubanks; and her grandparents.
Survivors also include her husband, Bobby Lisko of Tahlequah; two sons, Christopher Grube and John Michael Grube, both of Tahlequah; a daughter, Krystalina Maria Grube of Tahlequah; three brothers, Jeff Eubanks of Tahlequah, Tommy Eubanks of Denver and Thomas Brown of Odessa.
