Dolly Hollis
1931-2003
Dolly Rebecca Hollis, a long time Snyder resident, died Sunday, Nov. 16, in Seaburg Nursing Home in Odessa after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Hollis, 72, was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry Lakey, retired Assembly of God minister, officiated. Burial followed at Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Sept. 25, 1931 in Weatherford, she married Milton F. Hollis on April 7, 1949 in Electra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, in 1999; her son Larry Wayne Hollis, in 1980; and her daughter, Cheri Hollis-Hood, in 2000, each after lengthy illnesses from congestive heart failure. After her husband’s death in 1999, she moved to Odessa.
Mrs. Hollis was a former bookkeeper for D&D Automotive, and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Snyder, the Snyder Garden Club, and Martha Ann Women’s Club.
Survivors include her son, Randel Hollis of Odessa; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

George Jones Jr.
1946-2003
George I. Jones Jr. was found dead at his home in Snyder on Monday, Dec. 1.
Graveside service for Mr. Jones, 57, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Snyder. The Rev. Jim Hill, minister, will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home.
Born March 13, 1946 in Lubbock, Mr. Jones was postmaster at Colorado City and was to retire in March. He had served as an elder and a music director in the Snyder First Christian Church.
He had coached girls basketball and boys soccer in Lubbock several years.
His son, Chet, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Pam Jones of Snyder; his mother and father, Ava and G.I. Jones of Lubbock; and a brother, Don Jones of Lubbock.
The family suggests memorials to the Lubbock Children’s Home, P.O. Box 2824 in Lubbock, 70408.

Mrs. Thompson
1948-2003
Claudia Thompson died Thursday, Dec. 4, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
Services for Mrs. Thompson, 55, are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born on July 28, 1948 in Cooper, she married Curtis Thompson in 1972 in Salina, Kan. Mrs. Thompson was a nurse and had worked in homes and hospitals. She moved to Snyder from Midland five years ago and had previously lived in Salina. She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Donny Ray Thompson; and a brother, Donny Ray Shelton.
Survivors include her husband, Curtis Thompson of Snyder; two daughters, Vickie Thompson of Salina and Mattie Mae Thompson of Fort Worth; four sons, Benny Ray Thompson of Salina, Curtis Thompson Jr. of Hutchinson, Kan., Michael Wayne Thompson of Pueblo, Colo., and Sylvester Thompson of Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Patricia Shelton of Wichita, Kan., Doris Taylor of Salina; four brothers, Jimmy Charles Shelton of Kansas City, Claudine Shelton of Salina, David Shelton of Liberal, Kan., and John Shelton of Pueblo, Colo.; and 20 grandchildren.

Tommy McMahan
1920-2003
G.T. “Tommy” McMahan, former Snyder resident, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, in Brownwood Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mr. McMahan, 83, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Miller Robinson, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Born May 31, 1920 in Greenville, he married Juanell Word on June 16, 1972 in Snyder.
Mr. McMahan, a Baptist, was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, and was a former post commander at the American Legion, a lifetime member of the VFW, and had worked for American Airlines.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter and Curtis McMahan; and a sister, Dorothy Tibbits.
Survivors include his wife, Juanell McMahan of Brownwood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Karlene McMahan of Hobbs, N.M., and David and Sherry McMahan of Castaic, Calif.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Dawn and David Fish of Snyder; a stepson and his wife, Claude and Ruth Ann Smith of Snyder; a sister-in-law and her husband, LaJean and Bill Shaw of Gail; another sister-in-law, Sue McMahan of Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be from 7-8 tonight at the funeral home.

Lola Galasso
1909-2003
Lola Galasso, 94, died Thursday, Dec. 4, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Graveside service for Mrs. Galasso was set for 3 p.m. today in the Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with Buster Scales officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born March 29, 1990 in Ballinger, she married Vincent Galasso on July 21, 1945 in San Angelo. He died in 1984.
Mrs. Galasso was a retired bookkeeper.

Edwin Heath
1917-2003
MIDLAND -- Edwin L. Heath, the father of Jana Ward of Snyder, died Friday, Nov. 7.
A memorial service for Mr. Heath, 86, is set for 1 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Dyer and the Rev. Bob Hopkins officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 23, 1917 in Wichita Falls, he was a graduate of Midwestern State University and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1945-46. He married Lois Bryan on June 15, 1946.
He was employed by Gulf Oil for 32 years, retiring as a supervisor in the land division. He was ordained as a deacon at Faith Baptist Church in Wichita Falls in 1953 and has been a member of the Midland First Baptist Church since 1961.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Midland; a son, Rick Heath of Midland; two sisters, Lucille Bowles of San Antonio and Margaret Stuckey of Wichita Falls; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Charles Jones
1925-2003
Charles Everette Jones, retired Snyder pharmacist, died Friday, Jan. 31, at his home in Snyder after a lengthy illness.
Service for Mr. Jones, 77, is set for 2 p.m. Monday in the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Hinton, minister, and Dr. George Cooper of San Angelo will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Aug. 18, 1925 in Slaton, he was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving from 1943-46. He married Glenna Igo on March 28, 1948 in Morton.
Mr. Jones, a pharmacist for 53 years, graduated from the University of Texas in 1949 and moved to Snyder from Morton in 1968 where he was owner of Morton Drug. In Snyder he was owner of Munden Pharmacy.
A member of the First Baptist Church, Mr. Jones was active in the youth and adult Sunday school programs for many years.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Glenna Jones of Snyder; three sons, Charles E. Jones Jr. of Norman, Okla., Joe Dan Jones of Snyder and Terry Lee Jones of Kenya, Africa; a daughter, Charlotte Mann of Arlington; a brother, W.A. Jones of Lubbock; a sister, Janelle Shepherd of Refugio; and 16 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Sunday at Bell-Cypert-Seale.
Friends are contributing to the International Mission Fund at First Baptist Church, 1701 27th in Snyder.

Opal Minton
1913-2003
Opal Inez Minton, a native of Scurry County, died Saturday, Feb. 1, in Snyder Oaks Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Services for Mrs. Minton, 90, are pending at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Jan. 8, 1913 in Snyder, she married Robert Louie Minton on Dec. 24, 1931 in Snyder. He died in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeanie Fambro of Snyder; three sons, Bob Minton of Tucson, Ariz., Frank Minton of Crockett and Thomas Minton of Sweetwater; two sisters, Hazel Berry of Abilene and Bonnie Crenshaw of Snyder; a brother, Donald J. Jones of Longview; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Marion Holt
1925-2003
ABILENE -- Marion Holt, a former Snyder resident, died Friday, Jan. 31, in Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.
Funeral service for Mrs. Holt, 77, was set for 4 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Chappell officiating. Interment was to follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Born Sept. 22, 1925 in Ryan, Okla., she married Dan Holt on May 13, 1943 in Big Spring. Mrs. Holt, a homemaker, moved to Abilene 14 years ago, returned to Snyder and moved back to Abilene five years ago. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors also include her husband, Dan Holt of Abilene; a daughter, Lynda Taylor of Staunton, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Donna Holt of Snyder; two brothers, Carl Russell of Lubbock and Phillip Russell of Colorado City; six grandchildren, Alan Holt, Kevin Holt, David Taylor, Amy Glover, Daniel Taylor and Joel Taylor; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Hendrick Hospice Care or a favorite charity.
