WORTHAM -- Janie Fay “Little Red” Winkle, a former Snyder resident, died Thursday, Jan. 23, in Wortham.
Service for Mrs. Winkle, 50, is set for 4 p.m. Saturday in the Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Corsicana. Burial will follow in the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Sante Fe, N.M.
Born Dec. 23, 1952 in Grandview, she moved to Snyder in 1992 and then to Wortham in 1998. She had worked at the Plaza Truck Stop and Rip Griffin’s in Snyder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Winkle.
Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Todd of Lexington, Okla., and Deborah Michaels of Wortham; two sisters, Betty Sanford of Longview and Beverly Heim of Wortham; two brothers, James Miles of Dallas and Frederick Miles of Dallas; four grandchildren, Candice Todd, Amanda Todd, Stormie Hughes of Lexington, Okla., and Tristian Paul Michaels of Wortham.
Mark Roddy
1958-2003
A memorial service for Mark Owen Roddy, great-nephew of John and Juanita Roddy of Snyder, was set for 2 p.m. today in the Ford Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church in Lubbock.
Mr. Roddy, 44, died Thursday, Jan. 23, in University Medical Center.
Born on Aug. 23, 1958 in Lubbock, he was a lifelong resident of Lubbock, graduating from Monterey High School and Texas Tech University. He was employed at Garrison Geriatric Center.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Roddy of Lubbock; a stepdaughter, Wendi Whitley of McKinney; his parents, Harold and Mary Roddy of Lubbock and formerly of Ira; a brother, Mike Roddy of Garland; an aunt, Janie Roddy of Austin and formerly of Ira; a grandmother, Ophelia Roddy of Austin and formerly of Ira; and one grandchild.
The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimers Association, Greater Austin Chapter, 3420 Executive Center Drive, Austin, 78731.
Pete McKinney
1925-2003
FORT WORTH -- H. L. “Pete” McKinney, a native of Snyder, died Sunday, Jan. 26, in Fort Worth. Funeral service for Mr. McKinney, 77, is set for 1 p.m. Thursday in the Ridglea West Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home.
Born March 12, 1925, in Snyder, he served in the
U.S. Army during World War II with the 597th Anti-aircraftartillery battalion.
Mr. McKinney retired after 48 years of service from GeneralDynamics.
A master Mason, he was a longtime member and a deacon of the Ridglea West Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Carey L. and Ellen of Allen; two brothers, Jack C. McKinney and wife, Patty, of Belton and Charlie McKinney of Snyder; a sister, Lola Ryan of Post; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlie Park

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Charlie Park, son of Jo Ashley of Snyder, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, at his home in San Jose.
Services for Mr. Park, 55, are pending.
Born on Feb. 16, 1947 in Dallas, he was preceded in death by his father, Woody Park.
Survivors also include his wife, Vebeke Park of the home; a son, Jacob Park of the home; two brothers, Paul Park and his wife Sandy of Ruidoso, N.M., and Barry Park of Baytown; one nephew, Dillon Park of Houston; and his stepfather, Carl Ashley of Snyder.
Charles Park
1947-2003
APTOS, Calif. -- Charles Barton Park, son of Jo Ashley of Snyder, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, at his residence in Aptos.
A memorial service for Mr. Park, 55, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in Aptos.
Born on Feb. 16, 1947 in Dallas, he moved to Snyder at age 2 and graduated from Snyder High School in 1965.
He was preceded in death by his father, Woody Park.
Survivors also include his wife, Vibeke von der Hude of the home; a son, Jacob Park of the home; two brothers, Paul Park and his wife Sandy of Ruidoso, N.M., and Barry Park of Baytown; one nephew, Dylan Park of Houston; and his stepfather, Carl Ashley of Snyder.
Marion Holt
1925-2003
ABILENE -- Marion Holt, mother and mother-in-law of David and Donna Holt of Snyder, died Friday, Jan. 31, in Hendrick Hospice Care in Abilene.
Funeral service for Mrs. Holt is set for 4 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Abilene. Interment will follow in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Born on Sept. 22, 1925 in Ryon, Okla., she married Dan Holt on May 13, 1943 in Big Spring. Mrs. Holt, a homemaker, had lived in Snyder before moving to Abilene five years ago.
Survivors also include her husband, Dan Holt of Abilene; a daughter, Lynda Taylor of Virginia; two brothers, Carl Russell of Lubbock and Phillip Russell of Colorado City; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Hendrick Hospice Care or a favorite charity.
Greg Fisher
1953-2003
CROSBYTON -- Greg Fisher, son of Vona Fisher of Snyder, died Thursday, Jan. 23, in Lubbock.
Service for Mr. Fisher, 49, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Crosbyton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Les Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Fisher was born on June 17, 1953. He was a 1992 graduate of Texas Tech and was a graduate student there. He was involved in agriculture.
Survivors also include two sons, Eric Fisher and Kyle Deaton, both of Lubbock; two daughters, Jenni Fisher and Angelee Deaton, both of Lubbock; and a brother, Michael Fisher of Wichita Falls.
The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association.
Mildred Rogers
1919-2003
Mildred Dee Rogers, 83, died Sunday, June 29, at her home in Snyder after a sudden illness.
Interment for Mrs. Rogers, a longtime Snyder resident, was held Monday in Hillside Memorial Gardens. A memorial service is set for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Charles Day, pastor of the Ave. D Baptist Church, will officiate.
Born Oct. 14, 1919 in Union County, Ark., she married Roy Rogers on Aug. 7, 1937 in Union County. He died Sept. 8, 1983.
Mrs. Rogers was a homemaker and a member of the Ave. D Baptist Church.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Robert Eastridge.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Rogers of Lubbock and Sharon Mason of Abilene; a son, Kenneth Rogers of Midland; a brother, Glenn Ray Eastridge of Colorado Springs, Colo.; six grandchildren, Matthew Mason and Jessica Mason, both of Abilene, Craig Mason and Regina Mason, both of Memphis, Tenn., Kalah Stockman and Halee Rogers, both of Lubbock; and three great-grandchildren, Melissa Mason of Abilene and Kevin and Kara Mason of Memphis.
Cloda Wilson
1917-2003
COMANCHE -- Cloda Wilson, former U.S. Department of Agriculture employee in Borden County, died Saturday, June 28, in Comanche Community Hospital.
Graveside service for Mrs. Wilson, 85, is set for 10 a.m. Thursday in the Gardens of Memory in Comanche County under the direction of Comanche Funeral Home.
Born Nov. 25, 1917 in Gustine, she was a 1936 graduate of John Tarleton Jr. College.
She married James E. Wilson on Oct. 25, 1940 in Eden. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Wilson began her service with the USDA in Comanche County in 1938 and transferred to Tom Green County in 1945 as chief clerk. She retired in Borden County in 1974.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert A. and Winnie Wyche; a sister, Jo Davidson; and a brother, Jack Wyche.
Survivors include a nephew, Tommy Joe Davidson of Fort Worth; a caring friend, Rita McNew of Comanche; and numerous nieces and cousins.
