Addie Leonard
1923-2003
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -- Addie Mae Leonard, sister of George Lee and Valree Schroyer of Snyder, died Saturday, July 26, in Bakersfield.
Service for Mrs. Leonard, 79, was held today in the Hillcrest Memorial Chapel.
Born Nov. 16, 1923 in Irene, Texas, she was a graduate of Snyder High School.
Her parents, George and Lilla Lee; a grandson, Bruce W. Buddy Brandon; two sisters, Ruth and Alice; and four brothers, Walter, Odell, Herbert and Earl, preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Dean-Brandon and Carolyn L. Mack; another brother, J.W. Lee of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandsons, Brian Brandon and David Sorensen of Bakersfield; and three great-grandchildren.

Billy Cogdell
1932-2003
TULIA -- Billy Munsey Cogdell, a former Snyder resident, died Monday, July 28, in BSA Hospital in Amarillo.
Funeral service for Mr. Cogdell, 70, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Silverton High School auditorium with Jess Little, Joe Howard Williamson and Randy Mulin officiating. Burial will follow in the Silverton Cemetery.
Born Nov. 25, 1932 in Childress, he was a 1950 graduate of Snyder High School. He married Bette Barnes on Sept. 29, 1961 in Tulia. A rancher in Briscoe County, Mr. Cogdell was a member of the Vigo Park Methodist Church, the NCHA and the AQHA. He was a past director of the NCHA and is a Hall of Fame member in the NCHA. He received the Foy Proctor Memorial Cowman Award and the National Ranching and Heritage Award.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Munsey and Johnnie Kate Cogdell; one brother, D.M. Cogdell Jr.; and two sisters, Joni Sue Stiff and Martha Ann Cogdell.
Survivors include his wife, Bette Cogdell of Silverton; a daughter and son-in-law, Penny Lee and Kent Carpenter of Silverton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Billy Rank and Toy Cogdell, Dick Munsey and Kippi Cogdell and Jim David and Pam Cogdell, all of Silverton; 10 grandchildren, Cooper, Blaze, Ruder, Rowdy, Candy Cate, Harlee, Riley Bill, Lucchese, Colton and Cash.
Memorials may be made to Billy Cogdell Memorial Scholarship Fund, Silverton Cemetery Fund or a favorite charity.

Mary Maxwell
1959-2003
DALLAS – Mary Maxwell, the sister of Floyda Collins of Snyder, died Tuesday, July 22, in Chicago.
Funeral service for Mrs. Maxwell, 43, is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Greater Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Dallas.
Born Dec. 9, 1959 in Colorado City, she was preceded in death by a brother, Elroy Devorce.
A former resident of Colorado City, she was the daughter of L.C. and Verna Mae Devorce of Colorado City.

Clarence Goebel
1918-2003
HASKELL -- Funeral service for Clarence Goebel, a former Hermleigh resident, was set for 11 a.m. today in Trinity Lutheran Church. Dean and Pat Quade and Pastor Stan Leaf were to officiate.
Burial was to follow at 4 p.m. today in the Hermleigh Catholic Cemetery with Ray Goebel officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mr. Goebel, 84, died Sunday, July 27, in Rice Springs Nursing Home.
Born Sept. 25, 1918 in Hermleigh, he was the son of Walter and Mary Schultz Goebel.
He married Pauline Edmonds on Sept. 8, 1959. She died July 20, 1965. He married Anna Clark Kretschmer on July 27, 1968. She died Oct. 21, 1996. He also was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a grandson.
A lifelong farmer, he was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Sons of Hermann.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Lynda Goebel of Athens and Leon and Melba Kretschmer of Haskell; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn and Bobby Medford of Haskell; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Dora Mae and Henry Woellert of Snyder and Eva Nell Gill of Victoria; seven grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Bill Line
1923-2003
Bill Line, former longtime Snyder businessman, died Monday, June 2, in a Ruidoso, N.M., care center after a brief illness.
Funeral service for Mr. Line, 80, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Miller Robinson, retired Baptist minister, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Born Feb. 2, 1923 in Ranger, he married Marjorie Chapman on Aug. 23, 1947 in Abilene.
An Army Air Corp veteran of World War II, Mr. Line lived in Snyder from 1934 until 1992 when he moved to Ruidoso. He was an independent wholesale petroleum distributor and co-owned Line and Line Chevron distributorship for many years.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jack Line; a grandson, Taylor Cotton; his parents, Pete and Carrie Line; two brothers, Jack and Sig Line; and a sister, Ruth Boyd.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Line of Ruidoso; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jo Ann and David Cotton of Snyder, Nance and Ralph Lewis of Snyder, and Sue Ellen and Steve Harrigan of Austin; a son, Todd Line of Houston; and seven grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Ralph Lewis, David Cotton, Steve Harrigan, Steve Scott, Bill Boyd and Jimmy Don Everett.
The family suggests memorials to C al Farley Boys Ranch, Box 1890 in Amarillo, 79104.

Clara Smith
1942-2003
COAHOMA -- Clara Smith, the sister of Charlotte Liles of Snyder, died Monday, June 2, in a Midland hospital.
Funeral service for Mrs. Smith, 60, is set for 10 a.m. Friday in the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Dale officiating. Interment will follow in the Coahoma Cemetery.
Born Sept. 26, 1942 in Pinon, N.M., she married Leon Smith on Jan. 10, 1973 in Lovington, N.M. A resident of Coahoma, Mrs. Smith was the office manager of M&M General Contractors.
She was preceded in death by one son, her parents and a sister.
Survivors include her husband, Leon Smith of Coahoma; two sons, Michael Terry of Seminole and James Terry of Hobbs, N.M.; two other sisters, Betty Estey of Pecos and Glenda Franke of Klamath Falls, Ore.; a brother, R.H. Smith of Tyler; and five grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials to the West Kentucky Baptist Church in Midland or to the Allison Cancer Center in Midland.

Lucio Solis
1926-2003
Lucio Mideles Solis Sr., 76, died Wednesday, June 4, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Rosary for Mr. Solis is set for 7 this evening in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Lupe Morales and Jacinta Galindo officiating.
Mass for Mr. Solis is set for 2:30 p.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Fr. Leo Moras officiating. Interment will follow in the Snyder Cemetery.
Born Dec. 15, 1926 in Beeville, he married Maria Rachael Garza on May 13, 1948 in San Antonio. She died Jan. 16, 1981. He also was preceded in death by a son, David Solis.
A resident of Snyder since 1956, Mr. Solis worked 20 years for the city of Snyder before retiring.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Blandina and Guadalupe Morales and Patsy and George Fuentez, all of Snyder, and Mary and Guadalupe Salinas of Midland; two sons, Lucio Solis Jr. and wife Benilda of Snyder and Paul Solis of Sweetwater; a sister, Juanita Casades of Kennedy; a longtime friend, Mable Cottle; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Davis
1916-2003
MESA, Ariz. -- Oma Ruth Davis, the cousin of Willie Davis of Snyder, died Monday, June 9, in the Good Shepherd Assisted Living Center.
A memorial service for Miss Davis, 96, is set for 4 p.m. Monday in the Good Shepherd Chapel. Cremation is planned. Arrangements are under the direction of Bunker Family Funeral Service.
Born Aug. 6, 1916 in Colorado City, she was retired from the staff of the Southern Baptist Convention. She moved to Long Beach, Calif., in the 1960s and then to Mesa after the death of her sister, Iola Vest.
