Juanita Harrington
1914-2003
THROCKMORTON – Juanita Harrington, the grandmother of Sherry Holland of Snyder, died Friday, June 6.
Funeral service for Mrs. Harrington, 89, was held Sunday in the Christian Center in Throckmorton. The Rev. Edgar Jones of Graham officiated and interment followed in the Throckmorton Cemetery.
Born May 5, 1914 in Throckmorton, she married Willie E. Harrington on Aug. 17, 1935 in Throckmorton. He died Dec. 18, 1981.
Mrs. Harrington was a dietician for the Throckmorton Nursing Home for 10 years and a Baptist. She moved to Abilene in 1999.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Margaret Jane Kelley; a daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Franklin Pieper; and a grandson, Graydon Evan Pieper.
Survivors include a daughter, Darlene Ritchie of Abilene; three sons, Bobby Harrington of Throckmorton, Donnie Harrington of Seymour and Billy Harrington of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Mattie McGuire of Andrews and Marie Shankle of Throckmorton; a brother, Clarence Kelly of Springer, N.M.; 10 other grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Francisco Cantu
1914-2003
SWEETWATER – Francisco G. Cantu, the father of three Snyder residents, died Saturday, June 7, at his home in Longworth.
Rosary for Mr. Cantu, 88, is set for 7 this evening in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral service for Mr. Cantu, 88, is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Rodriquez officiating. Burial will follow in the Palava Cemetery.
Born Oct. 4, 1914 in Mexico, he married Lala Aguilar on Feb. 20, 1940 in Edinburg.
A resident of Longworth since 1947, Mr. Cantu was a self-employed farmer and also worked for Wendell Kent, Sweetwater Cotton Oil Mill and National Rail Car before his retirement.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elva Cantu; and two grandsons, Rudy Cantu and Gilbert Ray Cantu.
Survivors include his wife, Lala Cantu of Longworth; seven sons, Roy Cantu of Snyder, Frank Cantu, Albaro Cantu, Lupe Cantu, Roland Cantu, Adam Cantu and Arthur Cantu, all of Sweetwater; four daughters, Macy Gutierrez and Solia Gutierrez, both of Snyder, Myra Pena of Lubbock and Delia Ruiz of Sweetwater; 31 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Kenneth Hunter
1940-2003
Kenneth Floyd Hunter, 62, of Hermleigh died Tuesday, June 10, at his mother’s home in Snyder.
Funeral service for Mr. Hunter is set for 2 p.m. Friday in the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry McAden, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Born Dec. 12, 1940 in Lubbock, Mr. Hunter was retired from Weatherford Oil Service.
He was preceded in death by his father, E.H. Hunter.
Survivors include his mother, Nina Hunter of Snyder; his twin brother, Keith Hunter of Hermleigh; three other brothers, Roy Hunter of Cross Plains, Rodney Hunter of Santa Fe, Texas, and Jimmy Hunter of Alexander, Ark.; three sisters, Barbara Radican of Snyder, Ann Lloyd of Oak Hill and Carolyn Sutton of Hermleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 7 this evening at Wright Colonial Funeral Home.
Nova Henderson
1920-2003
Funeral service for Nova Henderson, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Rex Reynolds, pastor of the Hermleigh First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will follow in the Pyron Cemetery.
Mrs. Henderson, 83, died Tuesday, June 10, in Brighton Gardens Care Center in San Antonio after a lengthy illness.
Born May 18, 1920, she graduated from nursing school in San Angelo in 1942 and moved to Houston where she met and married T.P. Henderson. The family lived in Hermleigh before moving to Odessa where she was a school nurse before retiring.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Survivors include her husband, T.P. Henderson of San Antonio; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Karen Henderson of San Antonio; a sister, Katherine Wemken of Hermleigh; a granddaughter, Robin Henderson of Chicago; and several nieces and nephews.
Joe T. Fuller
1947-2003
VENTURA, Calif. -- Joe T. Fuller, former Snyder resident, died Wednesday, June 11, as a result of injuries from an automobile accident in Ventura.
Services for Mr. Fuller, 55, are pending in Ventura.
Born on Aug. 27, 1947 in Abilene, Mr. Fuller attended Snyder schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Kathy and William Ellington of Fort Worth; his father, Alford Fuller of Colorado; a son, Aaron Fuller of San Diego; and two step uncles, Bennie and Joe Ellington of Snyder.
Kevin Murry
1956-2003
SAFFORD, Ariz. -- Kevin Murry, former Snyder resident, died Sunday, June 8, in Safford.
Mr. Murry, 47, was cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born May 7, 1956 in California, Mr. Murry attended Snyder schools.
Survivors include his parents, Dell and Joan Murry of Brownwood and formerly of Snyder; a brother, Jeff Murry of Albuquerque, N.M.; and a sister, Sandra Salmon of Early.
Silvia Martinez
1969-2003
Silvia Martinez, a 1988 graduate of Snyder High School, died Saturday, June 14, in Campbell Health System in Weatherford after a lengthy illness.
Rosary for Mrs. Martinez, 33, is set for 7 this evening in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral mass is set for 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church with Fr. Roy Badillas officiating. Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery.
Born Oct. 5, 1969 in Hollister, Calif., she married Johnnie Martinez April 17, 1988 in Snyder.
She had lived all of her life in Snyder before moving to Weatherford a year ago. A homemaker, Mrs. Martinez also had attended Western Texas College.
She was preceded in death by a brother, David Tovar.
Survivors include her husband, Johnnie Martinez of Weatherford; a daughter, Kelly Martinez of Weatherford; a son, Bobby Martinez of Weatherford; her parents, Alex and Diane Tovar of Snyder; a sister, Sally Rios of Snyder; five brothers, Gus Tovar, Richard Tovar and Robert Tovar, all of Snyder, and Jack and George Tovar, both of Amarillo.
John Partain
1938-2003
John Partain, longtime Snyder resident, died Saturday, June 14, in Snyder Healthcare Center.
Funeral service for Mr. Partain, 64, is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Walter McCall, Odyssey Hospice chaplain, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Nov. 18, 1938 in Troup, Mr. Partain moved to Snyder from Kilgore in 1949 and graduated from Snyder High School in 1957. He married Pat Denson on April 3, 1958 in Lawton, Okla.
Mr. Partain, a Baptist, worked as a lineman for Texas Electric Service Co. for 33 years. After retirement, he drove a bus for the Snyder ISD for eight years.
Mr. Partain was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Woolever; and a sister, Earnestine Nolan.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Partain of Snyder; a son and daughter-in-law, Wes and Terri Partain of Spring; a sister, Leoma Hagan of Longview; a brother, Leonard Partain of Robert Lee; and three grandchildren, Brett, Kyle and Brittany Partain, all of Spring.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 this evening at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials to the Odyssey Hospice, 1510 S. Gregg in Big Spring, 79720; or to a favorite charity.
Earnest Biggers
1917-2003
Earnest Biggers of Colorado City died Saturday, June 14, in Valley Fair Lodge.
Service for Mr. Biggers, 85, is set for 11 a.m. Thursday in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Colorado City. Burial will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery in Colorado City. The Rev. H.H. Lee of Colorado City will officiate.
Wright Colonial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Born Dec. 17, 1917 in Milam County, Mr. Biggers married Angeline Baker on Jan. 18, 1939 in Cameron.
He was preceded in death by one son, Earnest Biggers Jr.; four daughters, Nettie Mae Brooks, Ernestine Biggers, Celestine Biggers and Christine Biggers.
Survivors include his wife, Angeline Biggers of Colorado City; a daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Willie Foote of Spanaway, Wash.; two daughters, Evelyn Dillard and Theresa Thompson, both of Colorado City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Janice Biggers of Colorado City and Nikko and Tennille Biggers of Arlington; three sisters, Wilma Biggers of Colorado City, Helen Ward of Waco and Leesther Biggers of Abilene; 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
