Mrs. James
1916-2003
LUBBOCK -- Ernestine R. James, a native of Scurry County, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, in Vinita, Okla.
Funeral service for Mrs. James, 87, is set for 10 a.m. Friday in the Resthaven Chapel with the Rev. Clint Stephenson, minister of the Westmont Christian Church, officiating.
Born Oct. 8, 1916 near Snyder, she was a 1932 graduate of Snyder High School and attended North Texas State University before moving to Lubbock in 1940.
She married A.E. “Cotton” James on Aug. 16, 1947 and he died in 1981.
She worked with her husband in the insurance business and was an auxiliary volunteer for Methodist Hospital and a member of the Westmont Christian Church.
Survivors include her brother and his wife, Glenn and LaJuana Robison of Vinita.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or to the Lubbock Meals on Wheels.

Mrs. Zimmerman
1920-2003
CASA GRANDE, Ariz. -- Marjorie Bernice Zimmerman, former Snyder resident, died Monday, Nov. 10, in a hospice care center in Casa Grande.
Funeral service for Mrs. Zimmerman, 83, is set for 10 a.m. Monday in the Church of Christ with Jerry Warren officiating.
Born April 20, 1920 in Big Spring, Mrs. Zimmerman was an elementary school cafeteria worker. She had lived in Snyder before moving to Casa Grande in 1936. She was a member of the Church of Christ and a bowling league.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Ethel and Samuel Witten; a brother, Bill Witten; two sisters, Cleo Cummins and Glenna Rogenstein.
Survivors include three daughters, Lynda Hite of Coolidge, Ariz., formerly of Snyder, Janice Ronquillo and Kaye Braunbeck, both of Casa Grande; five sons, Dennis Zimmerman, Duane Zimmerman, Bobby Zimmerman and Jeff Zimmerman, all of Casa Grande, Jerry Zimmerman of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; two brothers, Max Witten of Roseville, Calif., and L.C. Witten of Scottsdale, Ariz. two sisters, Gladys Zenzen of Eugene, Ore., and Christine Miller of Yreka, Calif.; 27 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren.

Shine Griffin
1918-2003
ABILENE -- Lois Loraine “Shine” Griffin, longtime Snyder educator, died Wednesday, Nov. 12, in an Abilene medical center.
Service for Mrs. Griffin, 85, is set for 2 p.m. Saturday in the South Side Baptist Church with the Rev. Kevin Ueckert officiating. Burial will follow in Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Born Nov. 5, 1918 in Baird, she received both a bachelor of science degree and a master’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University.
Mrs. Griffin was a first and second grade teacher with the Snyder ISD for 20 years before retiring in 1980. She moved to Abilene in 1995.
Mrs. Griffin was a member of South Side Baptist Church, the National Educators Association and a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson Larmer Henry Jr. and Willie Coppins Gilliland Henry; her husband, Joel Wayne Griffin Sr. on Oct. 31, 1994; a son, William Larmer Griffin in 1976; and a brother, Billie Jones Henry in 1993.
Survivors include a son, Joel Wayne Griffin Jr. and his wife, Margie Celeste of Abilene; a daughter, Julia Griffin of Abilene; and a sister, Dorothy Reynolds of Rowden.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mary McCravey
1914-2003
Mary Bess McCravey, longtime Snyder resident, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, at her home in Plano after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. McCravey, 89, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Sammy Parham officiating. Burial will follow in the Snyder Cemetery.
Born Nov. 11, 1914 in Frisco, Texas, she married Loyce Douglas McCravey on March 2, 1946 in Snyder. He died Nov. 27, 1967.
Mrs. McCravey lived in Snyder from 1924 until 2000 when she moved to Plano. She worked as a sales clerk in Snyder for Bryant Link, Whitfield’s Fabrics, Perry Brothers and Thompson’s Shoe Store. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Ruth Abercrombie; two brothers, Earl and Ellis Abercrombie; and her parents, John and Ottie Hye Abercrombie.
Survivors include a daughter, Belita Nelson of Plano; a grandson, Jason Vranek of Dallas; two nieces, Adalane Hickam of Lago Vista and Helen Filler of Corpus Christi; two nephews, Kirby McCravey and Frank McCravey, both of Snyder.
Friends are contributing to the Starfish Scholarship Fund, 4120 International Parkway, Suite 1150 in Carrollton, 75007.
Family visitation will be from 6:30 to 7:30 this evening at the funeral home.

Diane Rose
1940-2003
MIDLAND -- Diane Rose, the mother of Matt Rose of Snyder, died Wednesday, Nov. 12.
A memorial service for Mrs. Rose, 63, is set for 3 p.m. Saturday in the St. Nicholas Episcopal Church with the Revs. Hal Thacker and Bill Tapley officiating.
Born Feb. 18, 1940 in Wichita, Kan., she was reared in Okeene, Okla., before moving to Farmington, N.M., where she graduated from high school.
She married Dee H. Rose Jr. in Farmington and the family moved to Midland in 1961.
Survivors also include husband, Dee Rose; another son, Dee H. Rose III; and a daughter, Robyn Tatu.
The family suggests memorials to the American Heart Association or the Alcoholics Anonymous.

Richard Collins
1956-2003
MIDLAND -- Richard L. Collins of Austin died Monday, Nov. 10, in Midland.
Graveside service for Mr. Collins, 47, was held today at Fairview Cemetery in Midland. Arrangements were under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home in Midland.
Mr. Collins was born on Sept. 13, 1956 in Ballinger and was reared in Midland.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vollie Jean Burton.
Survivors include a daughter, Miranda Collins of Rising Star; a son, Dustin Collins of Rising Star; his parents, Bobby and Pat Collins of Possum Kingdom and Robert Burton of Lamesa; three brothers, Tim Burton and Bobby A. Collins of Midland and Robert Collins of San Angelo; two sisters, Vicki Slatton of Austin and Terri O’Bannon of Midland; two stepbrothers, Mickey Burnett of Dallas and Tim Burnett of Possum Kingdom Lake; and a stepsister, Vickie Flake of Conroe.

Dolly Hollis
1931-2003
Dolly Rebecca Hollis, a longtime Snyder resident, died Sunday, Nov. 16, in Seabury Nursing Home in Odessa after a lengthy illness.
Funeral service for Mrs. Hollis, 72, is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Larry Lakey, retired Assembly of God minister, will officiate. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Born Sept. 25, 1931 in Weatherford, she married Milton Hollis on April 7, 1949 in Electra. He died Dec. 26, 1999 and she moved to Odessa.
Mrs. Hollis was a former bookkeeper for D&D Automotive and was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Snyder, the Snyder Garden Club and Martha Ann Woman’s Club.
Survivors include a son, Randel Hollis of Odessa; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Florence Frazier
1929-2004
JACKSBORO -- Florence “Short” Frazier, a former resident of Snyder, died Monday, April 12, in Wichita Falls.
Funeral service for Mrs. Frazier, 74, is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Coker Funeral Home Chapel with B.J. Nunley officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Born Sept. 19, 1929 in Jack County, Mrs. Frazier had worked as a cook at the Green Frog Café.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Zella Rummage Isbell; a daughter, Sharon Hammond; two sisters, Eula Mae McCullum and Ardath Frazier; and two brothers, Jerry Isbell and Kenneth Isbell.
Survivors include four daughters, Joanne Mason of Jacksboro, Jeannie Davis of Beaumont, Debbie Heathcote of California and Danta Truvette Frazier of Jacksboro; three sons, Danny Frazier and Freddie Frazier, both of Jacksboro, and Michael Frazier of California; two sisters, Jolene McBee of California and Thelma Frazier of Memphis, Texas; five brothers, Loyd Isbell of Snyder, Cecil Isbell of Gordon, Sonny Isbell, Allen Isbell and Claude Isbell, all of Jacksboro; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
