Robinson
Funeral services for Lorine Robinson, 73, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Calvin Springer of Rockdale Full Gospel Church officiating. Burial followed in Minerva Cemetery in Minerva. She died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2002.
Mrs. Robinson, a Minerva resident since 1978, formerly of Houston, was born March 24, 1928 in Yoakum to Emil and Claudia Blanche Greider. She and John Thomas Robinson were married Nov. 10, 1961 in Rockdale.
Mrs. Robinson attended the University of Houston. She was a nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston and also took care of children in Houston and then in Minerva. Preceding her in death were her parents.
Surviving are: Husband, J.T. Robinson of Minerva; son John Mark Robinson of Waco; brother, Harold Ray Williams of Minerva; three grandsons, John Mark Jr., Jason Michael and Brian Leon Robinson.
Pallbearers were Cecil Meyer, Scott Meyer, Mark Robinson Jr., Jason Robinson, Brian Robinson, Daniel Diestel, Frank Garcia and Frank Garcia Jr.

Cook
CAMERON – Funeral services for Chelcy S. Cook, 87, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002 in Lights Chapel Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. O.J. Naylor of Lights Chapel Baptist Church officiating. She died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002 in the Central Texas Hospital in Cameron.
Mrs. Cook, a lifelong resident of Cameron, was born Nov. 30, 1914 in Cameron to Lee and Susie (Blackmon) Simmons. She was a homemaker and member of Lights Chapel Baptist Church in Cameron. Preceding her in death were her husband, William Cook Jan. 20, 1973; brothers, Willie, Lonnie, John and Lee Simmons Jr.; sister, Gladys Bailey.
Surviving are: Three brothers, Tom Melvin Simmons of Cameron, Haywood Simmons of Las Vegas, Nevada and Ralph Simmons of Los Angeles, California; sisters, Minnie Booze of Cameron and Mary Scott of Los Angeles, California.
Pallbearers were A.G. Whiteside, Aaron Miller, Aaron Spells, Robert Wilcox, T.K. Booze and Tony Booze.

Pinkerton
Funeral services for Clyde G. Pinkerton Sr., 73, were held Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at 2 p.m. from the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Kirk of Marlow Baptist Church and Rev. Joe Weldon Bailey of Liberty Baptist Church officiating. Burial followed in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale. He died Saturday, June 1, 2002 in the Manor Oaks Nursing Home in Rockdale.
Mr. Pinkerton, a Milano resident for the past 13 years, moving there from Rockdale, was born May 20, 1929 in Thorndale to Woody and Maudie (Wilson) Pinkerton. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, served in the U.S. Marine Corps and loved to collect arrowheads and travel to Las Vegas.
Mr. Pinkerton, a leaderman at Alcoa, retired in 1989 after 39 years. He was preceded in death by a son, Clyde G. Pinkerton Jr. March 4, 1996; his parents and two grandchildren.
Surviving are: Son, Mark Pinkerton and wife Michelle of Belton; two daughters, Patrica Bitner and husband Billy and Lisa Malone and husband Mike all of Cameron; brother, Kenneth Pinkerton and wife Fannie of Oologah, OK; sister, Bennie Pulley and husband Earl of Rockdale; five grandchildren, Kenny Schneebli, Sara Elliott, Crystal Nelson, Emily Pinkerton and Corbin Pinkerton; great-grandchild, Katy Elliott; also several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were J.D. Howard, Andy Kirk, Jerry Pulley, Billy Bitner, Anthony Proctor and Ernest Garza.
Honroary pallbearers were Harold "Shorty" Morris, Tom Martin, Ed Garner, Frank Warren, Ed Remaley and Jerry Kirk.

Keng
GIDDINGS – Funeral services for Thomas Winston Keng, 74, of Giddings were held Monday, June 3, 2002 at 2 p.m. in Martin Luther Lutheran Church, Giddings with Rev. Dr. Ralph Lien officiating. Burial followed in Giddings City Cemetery. He died Friday, May 31, 2002 in Brackenridge Hospital, Austin.
Mr. Keng was born April 11, 1928 in Dime Box to Samuel Keng and Mamie (Bolander) Keng. He and Arline Liberty were married April 20, 1950 at Port Lavaca. Retiring from Alcoa as a machinist after 31 plus years of employment, he was also a bail bondsman and owned and operated Kengston Finance Company in Giddings.
Mr. Keng was a local rancher who raised and raced thoroughbred horses, former member of the Giddings Junior Chamber of Commerce, former little league coach. He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II, playing football while in the Marines and also played football at TLC.
Mr. Keng was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruth Dale; brother, Lee Roy King; brother-in-law, Marvin (Red) Liberty.
Surviving are: Wife, Arline Keng of Giddings; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and John Ray and Judy and Jeff Keaghey all of Giddings; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Mary Kay Keng of Giddings; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson; two brothers, S.B. and Verlene Keng and Cecil Keng all of Houston; seven sisters, Inez Heinemann of Lexington, Verna and Sammy Caruso and Vera and Billy Hayes all of Houston, Twila and Len Moncrief of Longview, Joyce and Allan Pagel of Fayetteville, Marlene Terrasa of Lake Jackson and Barbara and George King of Friendswood; sister-in-law, Cecelia Keng of Houston; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Ben and Verdell Liberty of Giddings, Dr. H.G. and Pat Liberty of Seguin and Irma Moehlman of Yoakum; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

Taylor
KENNEWICK, WA – Services for Delbert G. Taylor, 84, were held at 2 p.m. June 3, 2002, at Mueller’s Tri-Cities Funeral Home in Kennewick, Washington. Burial was in Desert Lawn Memorial Park in Kennewick.
Mr. Taylor died Sunday, May 26, 2002, in Richland, Washington.
He grew up in Rockdale and, after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II, he moved to Corona, California, in 1954 with his family.

Richards
Uvenia Richards, 73, of Rockdale died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 in the Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
Funeral services were held 9 a.m. Thursday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Minister Bill Whaley of Murrary St. Church of Christ in Rockdale officiating.
She was born May 14, 1931 in Trinity to James Edward Thornton Sr. and Laval Uvenia (Gray) Thornton.
Uvenia, formerly a waitress at Shipley Donuts, was a resident of Rockdale since 1979 and a member of the Church of Christ.
She married Edd D. Richards Sr. on Aug. 5, 1951 in Victoria. Uvenia was preceded him death by her husband, Edd Richards Sr. on April 11, 1994 and her parents.
Survivors include son, Edd D. Richards Jr. and wife Ruth of Houston; step daughter, Sandra Jo Bennett of Virginia; sister, Elva Money of Rockdale; grandson, Phillip Nathan Richard and wife Ronnie of Hawaii; great-grandson, Max Nathan Richards of Hawaii.

Vardeman
Evelyn Vardeman, 73, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2004 in Rockdale.
Mrs. Vardeman was born in Bonham on Dec. 9, 1930, the daughter of Viva (Hicks) and Reuben Earl Blassingame. On Aug. 27, 1977, she was married to W.G. Vardeman.
Until her retirement, she had been employed as a mental health counsler at an assisted living facility. She was a member of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; one brother, Walter; sister, Anne.
Survivors include her husband, W.G. "Doug" Vardeman of Beaumont; two daughters, DiAnne Craig and husband, Brian of Rio Rancho, N.M., Nancy Aaron and husband, Will of Rockdale; son, Ralph Anderson Prestridge III and wife, Vicki of Hawkins; 13 grandchildren; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in the I.O.O.F Cemetery in Rockdale.
