Kimberly Jane Brown, 37 died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004 in Baytown.
Graveside services were held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5 at the Sandy Creek Cemetery near Rockdale.
Ms. Brown was born Jan. 12, 1967 in Northshore.
Kimberly was a native of Northshore but had lived in the Dayton and Liberty area for over 27 years. She was a 1986 graduate of Dayton High School and attended the United Pentecostal Church in Tarkington Prairie.
Survivors include one son, Cody Allen Brown of Liberty; father, Charles Brown and his wife Billie of Etoyle; mother, Wanda Hutto of Liberty; Wayne Brown of Shepherd; grandmother, Hazel Hutto of Cleveland; numerous cousins, aunts, uncles, and other friends and relatives.
Brymer
Joseph Carl Brymer, 89, of the Hogg Community in Burleson County died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004 in the Burleson St. Joseph Health Center, in Caldwell.
Mr. Brymer was born June 4, 1915 in the San Antonio Prairie Community in Burleson Country to Joseph Coral and Edna Priee Brymer, He attended the San Antonio Prairie Schools and as a young man was baptized in the Caldwell Church of Christ. Mr. Brymer was a member of the Sandy Creek Church of Christ in Milano.
On Dec. 24, 1934 he married the former Ruby Dotson. Joe and Ruby were looking forward to celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary this year. Mr. Brymer was employed at Alcoa Aluminum in Rockdale for 23 years. After his retirement from Alcoa he continued to enjoy along with his wife, their farming and ranching operation.
Survivors include his wife Ruby Brymer, three sons and daughters-in-law, Joe Don and Martha, Lyndon and Edna, all of Caldwell, and David and Colleen of Huntsville. He is further survived by three sisters, Ida McClure of Cortez, Colorado, Lee Ellen Isabel of Caldwell and Frances Dotson of Bryan, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Brymer as preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jake Brymer and one sister, Hester Clampitt.
The funeral service was held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, in Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell with Joe Don Brymer of the Sandy Creek Church of Christ in Milano officiating. Burial followed at the Masonic Cemetery in Caldwell.
Serving as pallbearers were David Bedrich, Brian Lee Brymer, James Lyndon Brymer, David Brymer Jr., Larry Brymer and Scott Brymer.
Bankston
MILANO – Jeffie R. Bankston, 55, of Kenefick, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 8, at Liberty Community Church in Milano. Burial will follow at Sand Grove Gardens of Memories Cemetery in Milano.
A resident of the Kenefick area for the past six years, Mrs. Bankston was born March 28, 1949, in Baytown to G. F. Hudman and Margie Faye Brooks.
She was a graduate of the Galena Park High School Class of 1967, a member of Kenefick Southern Baptist Church, and enjoyed flower arranging and gardening, sewing, and cooking.
Mrs. Bankston was preceded in death by her father and a sister, Brenda Faye Cole.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Gary Bankston of Kenefick; a son, Dale Bankston and wife Christy of Houston; a daughter, Lori Reisner and husband Robert of Cameron; four grandchildren, Shelby, Perry, Devinne, and Liberty; her mother, Margie Faye Hunt and husband Chester of Longview; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Muse
CAMERON – Evelyn Henrietta Muse, 99, of Edinburg and formerly of Cameron died Sunday, Oct. 3, 2004 at her home.
Graveside services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Oak Hill Pavilion in Cameron.
Mrs. Muse was born May 14, 1905 in Fort Worth to Marion and Suzie Worcester. She and her family moved to Cameron at an early age, where she attended school, married and raised her family. Later she and her husband moved to Edinburg, where she made her home for many years. Her husband, Eugene Lane Muse preceded her in death in February 1972. Three brothers and four sisters also preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Cantrell of San Antonio, Sue Heaton and husband Bill of Edinburg; 4 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s own choice.

Sallie Gayle Williams, 85 of Rockdale, formerly of Thrall, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at her residence. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale with Minister Bill Whaley officiating. Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Salem Cemetery near Yoakum. A homemaker, she was born June 29, 1919, in Jackson County to Claude Chivers and Martha Elwkanf Chivers. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother and two brothers-in-law. Willie Mae Phillips, 92, lifetime resident of Thorndale, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, in a Temple hospital. Mrs. Phillips was born in Conroe on May 22, 1912, the daughter of Angie (Madely) and John Thomas Graham. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Town & Country Home Demonstration Club, the Senior Citizens Center, and Thorndale VFW Auxiliary. Until her retirements, she had been employed as a cook for 20 years at the state hospital and Johns Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husbands, W.C. Landrum and Doug M. Phillips; two brothers, Tommy and Wesley Graham, sister, Elois Brouchard, and two half-brothers. Survivors were a daughter, Eula Mae Purcell of Dripping Springs; two sons, Billy Landrum of Thorndale and Ronald Landrum and wife Mary Kay of Bastrop; also, eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at Condra Memorial Chapel with Rev. Vickie Averitt officiating. Burial followed in Taylor City Cemetery. Michael Carroll Simmons, 58 of Gause died Sept. 20, 2004, in Kings Daughters Hospital in Temple. Services were held 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Gause with Bro. Jimmy Sanders officiating. Burial followed in the Gause Cemetery. He worked in mechanical maintence for 37 years before retiring from Alcoa. He is survived by his wife, Debbie Simmons of Gause; three daughters, Shannon Strelsky, Nikki Neiman and Mikey Simmons all of Rockdale; two step daughters, Janice Cowen of Gause, Alicia Van Cleave of Cameron; mother, Mildred Simmons of Gause; sister, Judy Marks of The Woodlands; eight grandchildren, Blake, Blayne, Junior, Blade, Rylee, Kaylee, Madison and Adrian; two nephews, Brandon and Derek; one niece, Traci; two great nephews, Dillon and Cody; a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives and friends. Henrietta Rose Baker, 75, of Rockdale died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2004, in her home. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, in First Presbyterian Church in Rockdale. Burial followed in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale. Mrs. Baker, homemaker, was born November, 6 1928 in Marion, South Dakota to William Frederick and Rose (Hippen) Janssen. She married Gene R. Baker on April 12, 1946, in McAllen.
Mrs. Baker was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Rockdale and served as Elder and on the Session. She served on the Presbyterian women’s group as vice president and Circle Chairman group. She was also a member of Woodman of the World. She received her teacher certificate from South Plains College in Levelland. She also enjoyed music and traveling and help serve Meals on Wheels.’ÄÉ She is preceded in death by her husband Gene R. Baker on Oct. 25, 1997 and her parents. She is survived by son, Tommy Gene Baker of San Antonio; daughter, Sharall B. Grissen of New Orleans, Louisiana; brother, Williams Donald Janssen of Magnolia; sister, Janelle Carol Loessberg of Onalaska; five grandchildren; one great grandchild. Odell "Mom" Standlee, 85, of Leander, passed away on Sept. 18, 2004 in Austin. She was born on April 4, 1919 in Burleson County to George and Altha Willard. Mrs. Standlee was preceded in death by her husband, Preston E. Standlee, sister Lottie Hilliard Todd and sons-in-law, Henry Engle and Harold Childres. TAYLOR – Nelda Streit Eulenfeld passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, Sept. 12, 2004, the day after her 85th birthday, at Gracy Woods II Nursing Home in Austin. Mrs. Eulenfeld was born Sept. 11, 1919, to Otto and Mathilda Streit at Structure, Texas. She married Adolph Eulenfeld on July 19, 1942. She was a loving wife and mother. She worked as a seamstress for many years in Taylor. She loved reading, sewing, gardening and taking care of her family. In later years, when she was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, she lived at Gracy Woods II Nursing Home. Her family wishes to thank all the staff at Gracy Woods for their love and attention in her final years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1970. Survivors include her daughters, Janice Gambill and husband Dale of Austin, Norma Dessens and husband Bill of Houston; a sister, Dolly Diebel of Elgin; grandsons Steve Dessens of Houston, David Dessens and wife Lisa of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Mark Dessens and wife Yvette of Houston; and three great-grandchildren. Maurine Swanzy Overall, 93 of Cameron died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, in the Winnie L. Nursing Home in Cameron. Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, in the Milano Cemetery with Rev. Charles Cole of First Baptist Church in Milano officiating. Mrs. Overall, homemaker, was born March 22, 1911 in Coleman County, near Santa Anna to William Andrew and Edna (Westbrook) Jackson. She married J.S. Martin on Jan. 10, 1932; James Thompson; B.L. Swanzy on July 22, 1942; and B.L. Overall. She was a resident of Cameron for the past 10 years and a former longtime resident of Milano and had lived in Milam County since March 8, 1938. Mrs. Overall was a member of First Baptist Church in Milano. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James T. Swanzy on May 28, 1982 and B.L. Overall in 1988; step-daughter, Annette Lofton; parents; sisters, Nell Fry and Asa Carter. Survivors include son, Robert D. Martin of Oklahoma; step-daughter, Janie McFadden of Louisiana; other family members, Donald Overall of Cleburn, Johnny Overall of Cameron, Patricia Boyd of Henderson; 4 grandchildren; a number of step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Memorials made be made to donors favorite charity. Wilson GAUSE – Leasie Hauptfleisch Wilson, 90, a native of Gause, died on Friday, Sept. 17, 2004, at her residence in San Antonio. Mrs. Wilson was born in Gause on March 17, 1914, the daughter of Fritz and Louise Furhmann Hauptfleisch and grew up in Gause, graduated from 11th grade at Gause School and 12th grade (sub-college) in San Marcos, and then began teaching at Two-Mile School in Milam County in 1932. In 1937 she married Elvis Wilson, also of Gause. They lived on the Hauptfleisch farm northwest of Gause while Leasie taught at various schools in Milam, Robertson and Burnet counties. In 1941 she and Elvis welcomed the addition of twin sons, Larry and Garry, to their family. They continued to live in Gause until 1943, when the family moved to San Antonio in search of work for Elvis. In 1951 Leasie began substitute teaching in the San Antonio school district. Three years later they moved back to Gause and she taught at the Gause School for three years while attending summer school at SWTSTC in San Marcos to obtain her bachelor’s degree in 1958. Subsequent to that milestone, she taught one year at Hearne before moving back to San Antonio and teaching once again in the San Antonio school district. She retired from that position in 1976. Three years after the death of her husband Elvis in 1985 she moved to Sour Lake, to be near her son Larry. In 2002, failing health necessitated her returning to San Antonio to be near her son Garry. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her five sisters and one brother. She is survived by one brother, Richard Hauser of San Antonio; two sons, Garry and wife Judy of San Antonio and Larry and wife Jane of Dripping Springs; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as by many friends, relatives and former students. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, at the Gause Methodist Church, with interment to follow at Gause Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Showers
HOUSTON – Services for Lorraine Walston Showers, 74, of Pearland were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at the Chapel of Angels at Forest Park Lawndale in Houston. Burial followed at Forest Park Cemetery. Mrs. Showers died Monday, Sept. 13. She was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Gause to Roy and Berta Mae Walston. Mrs. Showers worked for Exxon in the human resources department before retiring. She enjoyed dancing and going to the Coushatta with her husband and friends, but her biggest joy came from family get-togethers or just spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Showers is preceded in death by her father, Roy Walston, and a brother, Johnny Walston. Survivors are her loving husband of 54 years, George Showers Sr. of Pearland; a daughter, Suzanne Rush and husband Randy of Crosby; a son, George Showers Jr. and wife Gloria of Katy; a sister, Dixie Carpenter of Houston; also, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Hollas
CAMERON – Shirley Hollas, 69, of Cameron died Thursday, Sept. 16, 2004, at her home. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, at St. Monica’s Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Chamberlain and Rev. Tom Hanus officiating. Burial followed in St. Monica’s Cemetery. Mrs. Hollas was born Aug. 22, 1935, in Cameron to Wesley and Julia (Young) Scarborough. She married Louis Hollas Oct. 31, 1953. She had worked as secretary in the Milam County Veteran’s Service Office. She was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and a member of the Central Texas Hospital Auxiliary. Survivors include her husband, Louis Hollas of Cameron; three sons, David William Hollas of Concord, CA, Dennis Paul Hollas and wife Majorie of Keller, Stephen Ray Hollas and wife Lori of College Station; two daughters, Linda Blinka and husband Patrick of Cameron, Laura Dohnalik and husband Craig of Bryan; two brothers, Billy Scarborough and wife Berniece of Cameron, Jimmy Scarborough of Conroe; two half-sisters, Gwen Smith of Conroe, Beth Nix of Conroe; and 13 grandchildren.
