Jeter
Bessie Picou Jeter, 75, of Cameron, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 in a Cameron nursing facility. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Chris Norton officiating.
Mrs. Jeter, a retired news editor for the Cameron Herald, was born Nov. 14, 1928 in Morgan City, Louisiana to Harry and Cynthia (Brunet) Picou. She married Donald Jeter in 1950. She had served on the Cameron City Council and on the Cameron Public Library Board. Mrs. Jeter was a life long member of the First United Methodist Church in Cameron. Her beloved son, Matthew Jeter preceded her in death. Three brothers, Harry, Leory and Dean and two sisters, Brunette Croom and Cynthia Bea Picou also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Jeter of Cameron; son, Mark Jeter of Cameron; three daughters, Donna Bea McCrae of Avondale, Arizona, Gail Trdy of Cameron, Jinny Murdock of Arlington; brother, Dan Picou of Valdese, North Carolina; sister, Ann Bailey of Llano; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Cameron Public Library or the Scholarship fund at the First United Methodist Church in Cameron.

Medlock
Jasma Celese Medlock, 19, of Rosebud, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004 in Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14 at First Baptist Church in Cameron with Rev. Carvin Guthrie and Rev. James Butler officiating. Burial will be held in Willing Workers Cemetery in Rosebud.
Jasma was born Aug. 12, 1984 in Fort Riley, Kansas.
Survivors include fathers, Robert Lee Medlock of Houston and John Adams Washington of Rosebud; mother, Diann Washington of Rosebud; daughter, Tamyra Celese Medlock of Rosebud, three sisters, Myesha Hicks of Hewitt, Nila Washington of Rosebud, Shannon Rene’ Washington of Indiapolis, IN; brother, Daniel Washington of Rosebud; grandmothers, Nora Thompson of Junction City, KA and Dorthy Lee Washington of Indiapolis, IN; friend, Rickey Diles of Marlin.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Stevenson Sr., Robert Stevenson Jr., Titus Butler, Timothy Butler, Devan Davis, Jamal Williams.

Menges
Services for Cory Menges, 23, of College Station and formerly of Rockdale were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Chelf officiating. Burial followed in the Salty Cemetery near Rockdale.
Mr. Menges died on Wednesday, July 14 in the College Station Medical Center in College Station.
A resident of College Station for the past 16 months, he was born Sept. 24, 1980, in Taylor and graduated Rockdale High School Class of 1999.
He was very active in High School sports.
Mr. Menges attended Blinn and Texas A&M, and also completed MMI in Phoenix with a degree in Harley Davidson mechanics. He finished top of his class at MMI.
Mr. Menges was Harley Davidson motorcycle mechanic for two years. He was employed with Bill Allen Motorcycle in College Station.
He was member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale.
Survivors include his parents Debby and Kevin Rolan of Rockdale; two brothers, Wesley Rolan of Angleton and Zach Rolan of Rockdale; grandparents, Margaret and Henry VonGonten of Rockdale, Dot and Johnny Menges of Tanglewood and Glynn and Zeta Rolan of Rockdale; great-grandparents, Ethel and Bill Gardner of Cedar Park, and Minnie Beck of Rockdale; father, Johnny Menges, Jr. and wife Kim and their children, Stormy, Wyatt and Morgan all of Illinois.
Pallbearers included Lance Schielack, Donald Hatcher, Jonathan Zamora, John Zamora, Jake Lehman and Jack Sallee.

Secrest
Lee C. "Lightning" Secrest, 68, died Wednesday morning, July 14, 2004, in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
Graveside services were held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 17, at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.
A resident of Rockdale and formerly of Taylor, Mr. Secrest was born May 8, 1936, in Tarentum, Pennsylvania.
He was a cabinet maker.
Survivors include a daughter, a brother and a sister.
A memorial fund has been set up for Mr. Secrest at City National Bank in Taylor.

Theis
Arthur A. Theis, 78, of Thorndale died Tuesday, July 13, 2004, in a Rockdale hospital.
A lifetime resident of Thorndale, he was born January 7, 1926, the son of Martha Minnie (Walther) and Arthur W. Theis. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale, where he was baptized and on April 2, 1939, and was confirmed.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy.
He had been employed by the IRS in Austin and was engaged in farming and ranching.
His parents preceded him in death.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Thorndale.

Haupt
Funeral Services for Truman Haupt, 77, of Rockdale were held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2004, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Pastor Craig Wills officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Haupt died Thursday, July 8, in a Temple hospital.
A Rockdale resident since 1951, he was born Feb. 1, 1927, in Winters to Albert Haupt and Myrtle Ivie Wheeler.
He owned and operated Acme Sheet Metal Co. Heating & Air Conditioning until he retired in the early 1980s.
He married Jean Caudle on Aug. 2, 1947 in Ballinger.
He was a member of First Christian Church in Rockdale. He also was a veteran of U.S. Navy serving in the Pacific in WWII, also in the Korean Conflict.
In his early years he played softball with the Church League. He loved to play golf.
Mr. Haupt was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Jean Haupt of Rockdale; a son, Jerry Haupt and wife Gwen of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Brenda Burgett and husband Tom of Rockdale, Pam Young and husband Doug of Palmer, Texas; one sister, Juanita Ford of Metairie, LA; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 950 Isom Rd. Suite 104, San Antonio, TX 78216 or First Christian Church, Rockdale.

Glass
CAMERON – Funeral services for Donald Glass, 79, of Cameron were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 18, 2004, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Clint Schofield officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Glass died Thursday, July 15, in a Temple hospital.
A florist and owner/operator of Glass the Florist and Glass Wholesale in Cameron, he was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Belton to Lester Samuel and Hallie (Miller) Glass.
Mr. Glass was a graduate of Yoe High School and was a U.S. Army veteran.
He married Annie Ruth Summers.
Mr. Glass served as director of First National Bank in Cameron for many years.
Survivors are his wife, Annie Ruth Glass of Cameron, and two sons, John Glass and Jack Glass and wife JoAnn, all of Cameron; also, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
