James McCane, 31, died Saturday, September 27, in Andrews.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 1, in Andrews Funeral Home with the Rev. Harvey Enrique officiating. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
Mr. McCane was born April 11, 1972, in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Survivors include his wife, Anita; a son, Jonathan; a daughter, Daisy; his father, Ed McCane; two brothers, Eddie McCane of Midland and Tom McCane; three sisters, Teresa Trevino and Vicky Pemberton, both of Andrews, and Wendy McCane of Deer Park; a cousin; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.
Antonio Lopez

Antonio G. Lopez, 83, died Friday, October 3, in his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, October 6, in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with the Rev. Bernard Gully officiating. Burial was in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
Mr. Lopez was born February 21, 1920, in Sanderson. He was married to Margarita Rodriguez in 1940. They moved to Andrews in 1954, where he worked for the city for 23 years. He was coach and founder for the A’s semi-pro baseball team.
He was preceded in death by Antonio Lopez Jr. and Gloria Lopez Garcia.
Survivors include his wife, Margarita Lopez; five sons, Guadalupe, Joe, Manuel, Ernest and Louis Lopez, all of Andrews; six daughters, Anita Nicto Ofsan of San Jose, Calif., Phyllis Rodriguez, Alvena Benevidez, Rita Burciaga and Yolanda Lopez, all of Andrews, and Rosa Lopez of Bandera; a brother, Cruz Lopez of Andrews; a sister, Maria Razo of Los Banos, Calif.; 53 grandchildren and 96 great-grandchildren.
Charlie Dye dies in San Antonio

Charles "Charlie" E. Dye, 62, of Canyon Lake died Sunday, October 5, in San Antonio.
Mr. Dye was a resident of Canyon Lake since 1995 and was a former resident of Andrews. He was born July 19, 1941, in Houston the son of Charles and Bonnie Dye. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and retired from Exxon Oil Company, where he was a regional sales manager in their chemical division. He was married to Phyllis Bateman on September 28, 1992, in Midland.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Dye of Canyon Lake; a daughter Stacy Long and husband Darrell of Houston; two sons: William Dye and wife, Julie, Chad Dye and fiancé, Kim and their mother, Wanda Dye, all of Austin; his step-mother, Judy Dye of Ethelsville, Ala.; three brothers: Terry Dye of Prairieville, Ala., Gary Dye of Houston, and David Dye of San Antonio; and one sister, Peggy Wells of Henderson.
Visitation was held Wednesday, October 8, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home at Canyon Lake.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Services for E.W. "Duncan" Duncan, 83, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Donnell, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mr. Duncan died Monday, October 6, in Home Hospice House in Odessa.
He was born on September 23, 1920, in Roaring Springs and grew up in Dickens. He was married to Maggie Lee Talley. She preceded him in death on April 3, 1978. He was married to Ruby Ransom on November 15, 1998, in Andrews. He served in World War II as a M.P. in the Army. He had lived in Monahans, Andrews, and Albuquerque, N.M. He retired from the Civil Service after 28 years of service. He had worked in the pot ash mines in New Mexico. He had owned and operated S & D grocery in Andrews and was a master plumber. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby, of Andrews; two daughters, Sharron Perucca of Andrews, and Debbie Ward of Austin; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Billie Hobbs

Billie Hobbs, 67, of Andrews died Wednesday October 10, in her residence in Andrews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 10, in Second Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Ivy Shelton officiating. Burial was in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hobbs was born September 26, 1936, in Eastland. She was married to Vernie Hobbs on November 13, 1960, in Levelland. They moved to Andrews from Morton in 1968. She worked at the nursing home in Andrews for 14 years.
Survivors include her husband, Vernie Hobbs of Andrews; four sons, Ricky Hobbs, Vernon Hobbs, Lee Don Hobbs, and Jimmy Marshall Hobbs, all of Andrews; four daughters, Carol Ann Hobbs, Linda Kay Cherry, Katina Russell, and Charlotte Garrett, all of Andrews; 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services for Forrest D. Johnson, 76, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 11, in Andrews Church of Christ with minister Mark Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mr. Johnson died Wednesday, October 8, in Andrews. He was born on July 8, 1927, in Jones County. He served in the Navy. He was married to Lola Miller on June 6, 1952, in Rotan. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas in 1984 after 35 years of service. He owned and operated Quality Well Repair from 1984 to 2000. He was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ. His wife Lola preceded him in death on April 21, 1999.
Survivors include a son, Fred Johnson of Andrews; two daughters, Doris Johnson of Andrews, and Brenda Morris of Andrews; a brother, Herbert Johnson of McKinney; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Hernandez died Friday, October 10, in Odessa. She was born on November 4, 1940, in Miguel Auza, Zacatecos. She was married to Angel Hernandez on October 7, 1955, in Ramirez, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She lived in Andrews for the past 25 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Filadelfia Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include her husband Angel, of Andrews; four daughters: Gregoria Hernandez of La Joya,

Memorial services for LeRoy Burris, 78, of Andrews were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, at the building where The Body Of Christ Meets, 1012 SW 3rd Street, in Andrews with Richard Cooper of Andrews officiating.
Mr. Burris died Saturday, October 18, at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
He was born October 28, 1924, in Drumright, Okla. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was married to Eleaner Pearl Dye on November 27, 1950, in Fort Smith, Ark. They moved to Andrews from Hobbs, N.M., in 1979. He was a pulling unit operator for DA&S Well Services for 16 years and Carl Ham Oil for 3 years.
Survivors include his wife, Eleaner Burris of Andrews; two daughters, Laura Burris of Andrews and Gloria Ray of Hereford; two brothers, Johnny Burris of Drumright, and Asa Burris of Hobbs; three sisters: Rosalee, Kathryn and Doris; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Cremation and services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Lilly Sword Bledsoe

Lilly Sword Bledsoe, 78, of Andrews died Wednesday, November 26, at Permian Residential Care Center in Andrews.
Graveside service were held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 28, in Gaines County Memorial Cemetery, North of Seminole, with the Rev. John McQueen, pastor of McKinney Acres Baptist Church in Andrews, officiating. Arrangements were by McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Mrs. Bledsoe was born July 20, 1925, in Jonesville, Va. She was married to Joseph Bledsoe. He preceded her in death on November 10, 1990. She was a homemaker and also worked as a waitress.
Survivors include a daughter, Geneva Garner of Andrews; two brothers, Kermit Sword of Seagraves, and Aurther Sword of Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Pogue of Monahans and Esta Kirk of Marion, Ind.; two grandchildren, Jody Garner and Pamela Garner both of Andrews and five great-grandchildren.

Don Hoffman, Sr. of Andrews passed away Friday, November 28, 2003 at Alliance Hospital in Odessa.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, November 30, 2003 at Andrews Church of Christ. Mark Wilson and John Snyder will officiate. Burial will be in Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Mr. Hoffman was born August 31, 1942 in Spring Creek, Texas. He moved to Andrews in 1943. He married Virginia Fort August 9, 1944 in Seminole, Texas. She preceded in death June 30, 1997. He married Marie Moore October 15, 1998 in Greenwood, Texas.
He worked for Superior Oil Company for 16 years and then he was a District Manager for Baker Tools for 26 years. He loved to fish and to take tours on his motorcycle. He loved to weld and work on cars or anything mechanical, and he could fix anything. He also loved to visit his lake house in Del Rio, Texas. And, he enjoyed his buddies at the Cassidy’s Coffee Club in Andrews.
He was also preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, and a granddaughter, Virginia Christine Hoffman in 1971.
He is survived by wife, Marie Hoffman of Andrews; son, Don Hoffman, Jr. of Andrews; one daughter, Joyce Nelson of Andrews; two brothers, Royce Keen Hoffman of Graham, Texas and Jack Hoffman of McLoud, OK., three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
