Funeral services for Catherine “Cassie” O’Connor, 61, of Andrews will be at 2 p.m. Friday, November 28, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Mark Wilson of Andrews Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Mrs. O’Connor died Monday, November 24, at her residence in Andrews.
She was born December 15, 1941, in Colorado City. She was married to Larry O’Connor on December 5, 1963, in Hobbs, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 27, 1983. She was a homemaker and a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
Survivors include her daughter, Gay Hovorka of Dallas; two sons, Ric O’Connor of Marble Falls and Lanny O’Connor of Midland; a sister, Jane Lucas of Aztec, N.M.; two brothers, Jimmy and Buddy Nolen of Hobbs, N.M.; and four grandchildren.
John Whisenhunt

John H. Whisenhunt, 80, of Andrews died Tuesday, December 9, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 11, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Nazarene in Andrews with the Rev. Clay Hale and the Rev. Robert Williams officiating.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Sudan Cemetery in Sudan under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Mr. Whisenhunt was born June 14, 1923, in Honey Grove. He was married to Loucelle Hale on May 22, 1972, in Lamesa. They moved to Andrews in 1998 from Muleshoe. He was a farmer and also spent time working in the oil fields. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Andrews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Loucelle Whisenhurt of Andrews; and two sisters, Beatrice Atkins of Amarillo and Mavis Green of Wildorado.

Geneva McGregor Gunnels Day, 82, of Rogers, Ark., formerly of Lubbock and Andrews, died Monday, December 8, in Rogers, Ark.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 11, at the First Baptist Church in Rochester, with the Rev. Jackie Brem officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Mansell-Smith Funeral Home in Knox City.
Mrs. Day was born November 17, 1921, in Haskell County, Texas. She graduated from O’Brien High School. She was married to Clyde Gunnels on June 29, 1940, in Knox City. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1975. She moved to Andrews in 1975 and worked for Permian General Hospital for 10 years. She was also married to Gentry Day of Knox City, who also preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue King of Rogers, Ark., on August 11, 1997; and a grandson, Lance Clawson on December 25, 1964.
Survivors include five children, Kaye Clawson of Coahoma, Anita Schlottman of Corsicana, Clyde Gunnels Jr. of Andrews, Larry Gunnels of Grant, Okla., and Roger Gunnels of Llano; a brother, J.D. McGregor of St. Louis, Mo.; 21 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law; and many other relatives and friends.

In loving memory of Patricia Ann Zachary Beck, "Me-Me", who went home for Christmas on December 9, 2003 at 4:40 p.m. at her residence in Andrews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 12, 2003, at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Andrews North Cemetery.
Pat was born on February 2, 1935, in Ashdown, Arkansas to Curly and Tincy Zachary. She was married to James Albert Beck, Jr, "Pops,” on May 28, 1953, in Ashdown, Arkansas. They moved to Andrews in 1953 from Ashdown, Arkansas. She had worked for Carl Ham, Andrews Savings And Loan, and had been a teacher's aide at Devonian Elementary School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.
Pat loved her family and most of all her Lord. She was a servant of His love in every way. Her friends were the family she met along the way.
She is survived by her loving husband, James Beck of Andrews; three daughters, Trish Tharp and husband Jerry of Andrews, Genia Gillespy and husband Ronnie of Greenwood, and Renee' Zachary of South Carolina; a son, Jim Beck and wife Phyllis of Lubbock; a brother, Kenneth Zachary of Texarkana, Texas. Nine grandchildren affectionately called her "Me-Me" and will forever be changed by her love and influence in their lives. Her latest joys were her three great-granddaughters.

Graveside services for Billie Pilgrim, 80, of Andrews were held at 4 p.m. Friday, December 19, in the Andrews North Cemetery with the Rev. John McQueen, pastor of McKinney Acres Baptist Church in Andrews, officiating.
Mrs. Pilgrim died Tuesday, December 16, in Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
She was born September 26, 1923, in Del Rio. She was married to Harold Pilgrim on August 15, 1945, in Rankin. They moved to Andrews from McCamey in 1958. She had worked as a registered nurse for the Andrews County Health Department for many years. She was a charter member of McKinney Acres Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, on March 12, 2001; a son, Jim Pilgrim in 1995; her parents; three brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Wilcox and Sharon Roberts of Andrews; a son, Jon Pilgrim of Kempner; a sister, Wilma Williams of Sabinal; a brother, Charlie Peoples of Crane; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
James T. Carlisle

James Terrell Carlisle, 89, of Hobbs, N.M., died Friday, January 9, in Hobbs Health Care Center.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 12, in Lovington Cemetery in Lovington, N.M., with Dr. Leon Green, hospice chaplain, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Smith-Rogers Funeral Home of Lovington.
Mr. Carlisle was born March 26, 1914, in Kaufman County. He worked for Black Drilling in Andrews, Big Lake and San Angelo for many years then retired from the oil field and moved to Lovington in 1957 to farm. He farmed west of Lovington for awhile, then moved to Kemp where he owned and operated Carlisle Restaurant for several years. He returned to Lovington in 1980 to live. He served in CCC at Silver City during World War II.
He was married to Lois Pauline Brigance on March 11, 1937, in Lynn County. She preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mabel Carlisle; a sister, Thelma Shipley; and two daughters, Patty McPherson and Nelda Turner.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Carlisle and Ernest Carlisle, all of Lovington; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Louis V. Madison

Services for Louie V. Madison, 84, of Andrews will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 17, in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Henson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Snyder, and the Rev. Michael Riley, pastor of Deermeadows Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla., officiating. Burial will be in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Mr. Madison died Saturday, December 13, in Permian Regional Hospital.
He was born on March 15, 1919, in Royce City. He attended Eastern New Mexico Junior College and New Mexico Normal University in Las Vegas, N.M., now known as New Mexico Highlands University, where he graduated in 1941. He taught at Fort Hancock in 1941 and 1942. He went in to the Army Air Corp in 1942 serving as a physical trainer. After his military service, he was a teacher and coach in South Texas. Louie also served as the superintendent and coach in Sierrra Blanca.
He was married to Betty Louise Chattman on June 2, 1947, in Las Cruces, N.M. They moved to Andrews in 1948. He owned and operated Madison Grocery Store until 1957. He served on the Andrews school board, was a past member of the Lions Club and Chamber of Commerce. He taught physical education at Underwood Elementary School from 1957 until retirement in 1984. He received his Masters degree from Sul Ross while teaching at Underwood. He was a Mason and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife on January 29, 1986.
Survivors include two sons, Robert "Bob" Madison of Sherman, and Mike Madison of Plano; two daughters, Linda Maday of Cypress, and Dona Morgan of Lubbock; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

A.L. “Buster” Dorman, 70, of Carlsbad, N.M., died Saturday, January 10, in his residence.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, in Denton-Funchess Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Ellis of Artesia, N.M., officiating. Burial was in Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, N.M. Arrangements were under the direction of Denton-Funchess Funeral Home.
Mr. Dorman was born November 16, 1933, in Bowie and moved to Andrews in 1963 where he worked in the oil fields. He was married to his wife Pat in 1980 and moved to Carlsbad where he worked in the oil fields and then started Buster’s Pumping Service in 1989, retiring in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Michael Dorman.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Dorman; a son, Steve Dorman of Carlsbad; four daughters, Cathy Rouse of San Angelo, Sandy Gregory of Andrews, Cindy Rowlett of Lubbock, and Tawnya Goddard of Carlsbad; a brother, J.D. Dorman of Bowie; three sisters, Doris Southern of Andrews, Patsy Damron of Andrews, and Melba Gant of Longview; 10 grandchildren including David Gregory of Andrews and Kellie Gregory of Andrews; and five great-grandchildren.
Maurine Cooney

Funeral services for Maurine Cooney, 92, of Odessa will be 2 p.m. Saturday, January 17, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Burial was in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
Mrs. Cooney died Thursday, January 14, in Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa.
She was born September 25, 1911, in Eliasville, the daughter of John Dillard Davis and Osie Lacy Davis. She graduated from Breckenridge High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from North Texas State University and a M.E. Degree from Sul Ross University. She was married to Patrick Henry Cooney on July 18, 1935, in Dallas. They moved to Andrews in 1955 from Vivian, La. She taught school in Texas and Louisiana for 44 years. She retired in 1977 from the Andrews Schools after 22 years. They moved to Odessa in 1996.
Her husband preceded her in death on January 24, 1997. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and a member of First Baptist Church in Andrews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by a son, Joe Cooney of Odessa; a brother, J.D. Davis of San Angelo; and two grandsons.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
