Rosary services for Eliaser “El Paisa” Pando Acosta, 80, of Andrews were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2004, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Andrews with Rev. Bernard Gully, pastor, officiating.
He died Monday, February 2, 2004, at the Home Hospice House in Odessa.
Born April 2, 1923 in El Mulato, Mexico, he served in the Reserve Military in Mexico. He married Paula Carrasco November 5, 1949 in San Carlos, Chihuahua, Mexico and they moved to Andrews from Kermit in 1964.
He had worked for the 02 Ranch in Alpine. While in Andrews, he worked for Andrews Gas Company, Tucker Construction, Peacock Welding, Pete Moore & Sons Construction, and then worked as a custodian for five years at Andrews Middle School and Underwood Elementary. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
He migrated to the United States in 1957. Although he was busy raising children of his own, he always opened his home to other immigrants as they made their way to Andrews. He would tell them they were “paisanos” (from the same country).
Soon he became known as “El Paisa.” He always had a meal, a bed and helped them on their way. Though he was passionate of his native country, he was proud to be an American. He was thankful for the opportunities that it bestowed upon him and his children by allowing them to proudly live the American dream.
He will be missed, not only by his wife and children, but by many others whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his son, Hector Acosta; and two sisters, Sara Juarez and Ofelia Bustamante.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Acosta of Andrews; six sons, Humberto and Alfred Acosta of Andrews, Richard Acosta of Livermore, California, Adam Acosta of Lockhart, Abel Acosta of Pflugerville and Oscar Acosta of Kermit; four daughters, Maria Diaz of Houston, Eva Morgan and Alice Ruiz of Andrews, and Letisia Herrera of Midland; five brothers, Eulogio, Edmundo, Emilio, Elizardo Acosta of Andrews and Enrique Acosta of Corpus Christi; three sisters, Rosa Vasquez and Lidia Molinar of Andrews and Consuelo Lujan of Odessa; 25 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Ivee McKinney Wilson

Services for Ivee McKinney Wilson, 100, of Andrews, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, in McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Ivy Shelton officiated. Burial followed in the Andrews Old Cemetery.
She died Wednesday, February 4, 2004, in Andrews. Born November 21, 1903 in Westbrook, Texas, she married W.T. Wilson on May 13, 1923 in Westbrook.
Mrs. Wilson had lived in Andrews since 1923. She was a farmer and was a charter member of the First Baptist Church. Her husband preceded her in death on December 8, 1977.
Survivors include two brothers, W.S. "Chuck" McKinney and Warner McKinney both of Andrews; two sisters, Lillie Harris and Vera Harris both of Andrews; and 19 nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Jerry Terry

Funeral services for Jerry Terry, 57, were held Dec. 27, 2003, at Central Baptist Church in Lafayette, La., with the Rev. Jess Hill and Bobby Burnett officiating.
Terry died Dec. 23, 2003.
Terry and his family moved to Andrews from San Angelo, and attended Grace Baptist Church while in Andrews. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1965, and went to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Mo.
He had served as pastor of Central Baptist Church in Lafayette since the early 1970s, and also served as principal of Acadiana Christian School.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon of Lafayette; two daughters, Pamela Terry of Bakersfield, Calif., and Rebecca Henderson of Springfield, Mo.; one son, Greg Terry of Bakersfield, Calif; his mother, Mary Ruth Fairchild Terry of San Antonio; two sisters, Mary Evelyn Terry and Belinda Lacey; four brothers, James, David, Dan and Rodney; and three grandchildren. His father, Otis Terry, preceded him in death.
R.E. McAdoo

Funeral services for R.E. “Mr. Mac” McAdoo, 93, of Andrews, were at 10 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2004, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Dr. Jeff Donnell, Pastor of First Baptist Church in Andrews, officiating. Burial was in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Don McAdoo, Rick McAdoo, Troy McAdoo, Heath Sossaman, Wade Wills and James Purdom.
He died Tuesday, March 23, 2004, at his residence in Andrews.
He was born March 18, 1911, in Rhome, Texas, to Smith McAdoo and Sallie Carter McAdoo. He moved to Andrews in 1956 from Penwell. He married Emily Corinne Landrum on April 18, 1957, in Pampa; she preceded him in death on May 18, 1999. He worked in maintenance for Phillips for 36 years. He was a charter member and the first quartermaster of the Mesquite Burners of the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.
His parents and five brothers also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his two sons, Richard McAdoo and wife Evelyn of Fort Worth, and Wayne McAdoo and wife Dodie of Andrews; one daughter, Joanne Sossaman and husband Al of Brenham; six grandchildren, Don McAdoo, Rick McAdoo, Shelly Wills, Heath Sossaman, Tonya Purdom and Troy McAdoo; 10 great-grandchildren, Shelby McAdoo, Whitney McAdoo, Garrett McAdoo, Ryan McAdoo, Paxton Wills, Paige Wills, Audrey Sossaman, Ella Sossaman, Presley Marie Purdom and McKaylee Jae McAdoo; and two special friends, Helen Cordova and Teresa Gutierrez of Andrews.

Funeral services for Joyce Matthews, 75, of Andrews were at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 20, in the Andrews Church of Christ with Mark Wilson and Moody Conner officiating. Burial followed in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
Ms. Matthews died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.
She was born on Aug. 12, 1928, in Iraan. She married Chester J. Matthews on Nov. 2, 1945, in Sanderson. She was a retired beautician. Ms. Matthews was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ and the Permian Regional Medical Center Pink Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2002.
Survivors include three sons, Dewain “Slugger” Matthews of Andrews, Robert “Bob” Matthews of Hobbs, N.M., and Mickey Matthews of Pennlaird, Va; one daughter, Karen “Denise” Cathey of Andrews; a brother, O.V. Stidham of Robert Lee; two sisters, Elouise Downs of Kerrville and Delma Walters of Ft. Stockton; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Michael Page, 45, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with the Rev. Doug Kello of First Baptist Church officiating.
Cremation was under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
He died Thursday, March 18, 2004, in Crane.
He was born October 25, 1958, in Hobbs, N.M. to W.L. and Ann Osgood Page. He served in the U.S. Army. He married Dianna Murrish on September 26, 1983, in Hobbs. They moved to Andrews from Hobbs in 1985. He had worked for Baber Well Service in Hobbs and had worked as a roughneck for Rodric Corporation of Midland for 14 years. He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Dianna Page of Andrews; one son, Chad Murrish of Amarillo; one daughter, Misti Page of Midland; his father, W.L. Page and wife Gaytha of Henrietta; one brother, Mark Page of Midland; and five sisters, Jackie Frizzell, Sherri Logan, Jody Mason and Angela Schnaubert, all of Hobbs, and Debbie Asbrock of Smyrna, Tenn.

Graveside services for James Wilburn St. Ama, 89, of Brownwood, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Windham Cemetery, under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. St. Ama passed away Thursday, March 18, in Brownwood.
He was a retired foreman for Arco. He attended school at Rural Shade and had lived in Brownwood since 1976. He was formerly of Andrews.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Thelma St. Ama; two sons, Bobby of Early and Don of Liberty, Mo.; and a daughter, Mary Ann Brown of Grand Prairie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, four sisters and a grandchild.
Mary Meek

Graveside services for Mary Meek, 96, of Andrews, were at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 18, in the Andrews West Cemetery. Officiating was the Rev. Raul Puente with Star Hospice. Services were under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
Ms. Meeks died Tuesday, March 16, 2004, in Andrews. She was born on Dec. 30, 1907, in Gordenville. She married Amos Palmer Meek on Jan. 6, 1927, in Grayson County. She moved to Andrews from Levelland in 1977.
Ms. Meeks was a member of the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Levelland. She served as the County Treasurer in Hockley County for 10 years before retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 9, 1988. Nine brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Ramona Benson of Andrews; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mattie Thornley, 91, of Henderson, will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Sugar Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Mayfield officiating. Services are under the direction of Mt. Olive Funeral Home of Hugo, Okla.
She died Monday, March 15, 2004, at Southwood Nursing Center in Henderson.
Ms. Thornley was born May 12, 1912, in Nelson, Okla. She married Leo Dean Thornley on Oct. 20, 1934, in Hugo, Okla. She moved with her family to Andrews in 1945 until her husband’s retirement in 1976, when she returned to the Hugo area. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 2, 1996; one son, Robert Cleo Thornley in 1939; three unnamed children; three brothers; and one sister.
She is survived by four sons, Johnny Thornley of Livingston, Roy Calvin Thornley of Charleston, S.C., Gary Dean Thornley of Alvin and Leo Dean Thornley Jr. of Henderson.; one sister, Wiley Herman of Hood River, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Clifton Joe Brown, 54, were held Friday at Andrews North Cemetery with Rev. Ted Short, pastor of Grace Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial was under the direction of Andrews Funeral Home.
Born March 22, 1949 in Seminole, he graduated from Andrews High School and worked as an electrician for Cass Fitts Electric.
Survivors include his mother, Jean Martin of San Antonio; father and stepmother, Eugene and Dorthy Brown of Andrews; brothers, Gary Brown of Midland, Aaron Brown of Andrews, Curtis Brown of Odessa and Amos and Kenneth Allen of Houston; sisters, Mary McCain of Andrews and Zelda Brown of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
