Fleta Mae Carnes

Fleta Mae Carnes, 89, of Andrews, left her most recent life of physical pain and suffering to go to a victorious and joyful eternal life with Jesus Christ, her Savior and Lord, on November 15, 2002, at the Hospice House in Odessa, Texas.
Fleta was born March 13, 1913 to Lee and Jimmy Bell Lemmons in Lassater, Texas. She married Leslie M. Carnes, Sr., her husband of nearly 60 years, in Frederick, Oklahoma on August 31, 1930, just a few months after her high school graduation in Shreveport, Louisiana. Leslie passed away August 21, 1990.
Fleta has lived in Andrews the past 39 years, where she enjoyed teaching school, helping friends and shut-ins, cooking sumptuous meals for family and others and in worshipping her Lord with friends in First Baptist Church of Andrews. She was a most faithful and dedicated Christian Servant, strongly devoted to her church and family.
She was affectionately known as “MeMo” to her family and supported every family member by her prayers and often times with her material possessions.
Her beloved son, Phillip, preceded her in death in 1988.
She is survived by her older son, Leslie M. Carnes, Jr. of Midland; two daughters-in-law, Freddye Carnes of Midland and Don Nell Cunningham of Austin; four granddaughters, who will greatly miss their “MeMo”, are Danielle Puryear of Midland, Julie Morgan of Amarillo; Pam Christopher of Fort Worth, and Lori King of Rowlett; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 17, 2002, in the Andrews West Cemetery with Dr. H.A. Hanks of Andrews officiating.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2002, at McNett Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m.

La Verne Fetner

Services for La Verne Fetner, 59, of Plano and formerly a longtime resident of Andrews, was held Wednesday, November 20, 2002 at 2 p.m. graveside in Restland Memorial Park in Dallas.
Services in Dallas are under the direction of Ted Dickey Funeral Home of Plano.
Memorial services for Mrs. Fetner will be Thursday, November 21, 2002 t 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Andrews. Officiating will be Dr. H.A. Hanks. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
She died in Plano Sunday, November 17, 2002 at 4 p.m. She was born March 6, 1943 in Breckenridge, Texas.
She was a secretary to the administrative staff of the Andrews Independent School District for many years and a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Andrews for 33 years. She was also a member of the Texas State Secretaries Association.
Survivors include her husband, Mike Fetner of Plano; daughters, Lori Grubbs of Plano and Gina Phillips of Houston; a brother, Robert Cagle of Elm Mott, Texas; and four grandsons.
Erma Lee Hudman

Erma Lee Hudman passed away November 19, 2002 in Robert Lee, Texas.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 21, at Emmanuel Pentecostal Church in Robert Lee with Brother Ray Aldridge officiating.
Burial followed in the Robert Lee Cemetery.
Born July 6, 1917 in Gatesville, she married B.W. Hudman on October 3, 1933.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, seven brothers, one sister, one grandson and two daughters, Peggy Nichols of Odessa and Linda Cook of Andrews.
Survivors include three daughters; two sisters; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three nephews; and one niece.
Jack Wallace

Services for Jack Wallace, 84, of Anson were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Mike Walton officiating.
Burial was in the Hawley Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
He died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001 at an Anson hospital. He was born Jan. 18, 1917 in Hamilton.
He married Myrtle Woodson on Sept. 22, 1940 in Book, La. He moved to Anson from Hawley in 1996 and he was a preacher. He was a member of the Baptist Church and he was a Mason.
Among the survivors was a daughter, Janice Wallace of Andrews.

Funeral services for Doris Lacasse, 71, of Andrews will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 24, at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Ivy Shelton, pastor of the church and Rev. Dale Dozier of Andrews, officiating.
Burial will follow at Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
She died Thursday, November 21, 2002, at Permian General Hospital.
Born April 10, 1931 in Runnels County, Texas, she married D.W. “Dub” Lacasse on July 17, 1972 in Bruton, Alabama. They moved to Andrews in 1984 from Minden, Louisiana.
He preceded her in death on October 2, 1999. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Brenda Stringfield of Andrews; two sons, Jesse McAfee of Tempe, Arizona and Richard Niki of Andrews; three stepdaughters, Brenda Bollinger of Clovis, N.M., Debbie Phillips of Levelland and Marsha Stanley of Lubbock; one stepson, Douglas Lacasse of Minden, Louisiana; one sister, Ilene Hogeland of Andrews; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Rosary services for Edelmira “Ellie” Reyes, 48, of Andrews were held Friday, November 22, at McNett Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
Burial will be in Andrews North Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
She died Wednesday, November 20, 2002, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Born June 16, 1954 in Victoria, she moved to Andrews from Ackerly in 1978. She married Jose J. Reyes, Sr. on November 18, 1979 in Odessa.
Mrs. Reyes had worked for Permian General Hospital as a dietary aide for five years. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ramon Velasco, in 1977.
Survivors include her husband, Jose J. Reyes, Sr. of Andrews; one daughter, Alexandra Reyes of Andrews; three sons, Juan Trevino, Jr. of Snyder, Jorge Reyes of Andrews and Jose J. Reyes, Jr. of Odessa; her mother, Juanita Velasco of Ackerly; two sisters, Margarita Velasco of Odessa and Rosa Perez of Del Rio; two brothers, Raymond Velasco of Odessa and Alonzo Velasco of Big Spring; and five grandchildren.
