Mrs. Witten
Martha Witten, 81, of Lampasas died March 22, 2004, in an Austin nursing home.
Funeral services are pending with Dodson-Sneed Funeral Home of Lampasas.
Mrs. Crawford
Funeral services for Shirley L. Crawford, 66, of Lampasas were March 17, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Lampasas. Officiants are Dr. Mark Bumpus of First Baptist Church in Mineral Wells and Minister Reid Schaub of Lampasas.
Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Crawford died March 14 in Lampasas.
She was born June 4, 1937, in Santa Anna, to M.R. "Bud" Simmons and the former Laverne Lackey.
Mrs. Crawford was reared in Coleman County and attended Howard Payne University in Brownwood. She graduated with a bachelor's degree and earned a master's degree.
She married Autry Neel Crawford on Nov. 26, 1958, in Santa Anna.
The couple moved to Lampasas in 1961 when Mr. Crawford accepted an assistant coaching position under Coach Cecil Elkins.
Mrs. Crawford taught junior English and American literature at Lampasas High School for 28 years.
She was the recipient of the Golden Apple Award from the Temple Daily Telegram in 1992.
Mrs. Crawford founded the Lampasas High School Flames.
She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was very involved in teaching Sunday School.
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Keli and Philip Urofsky, of Lampasas; a son and his wife, Keith and Melinda Crawford, of Austin; three brothers, Donnie Simmons, of Dallas, Pete Simmons, of McKinney, and Terry Simmons, of Dallas; four grandchildren, Dusti and Kalyn Urofsky and Chad and Lindsay Crawford.
Mrs. Crawford was preceded in death by her husband on June 28, 2003, and by a sister, Joyce Simmons.

Mr. Alexander
Ben Griffin Alexander, 90, of Burnet died Feb. 21, 2004, in Lampasas.
Funeral services were Feb. 23 at Edgar Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Debo officiating. Burial followed at Bethel Cemetery in Burnet County.
Mr. Alexander was born Dec. 15, 1913, in northern Burnet County. He was a descendant of pioneer Alexander, Griffin and Berry families of Lampasas County.
A member of First Baptist Church of Lake Victor, Mr. Alexander was a retired farmer and rancher of Burnet County for many years.
He is survived by a daughter, Betty Alexander Chaney, of Burnet; grandchildren, Peggy Scott and Nancy Farnsworth, both of Rockport, and Robert Chaney, of Burnet; great-grandchildren, Brandon Scott, of Austin, and Todd Farnsworth and Cole Farnsworth, both of Rockport; and a sister, Annie Bell Reavis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Alexander; and a granddaughter, Beth Linn Chaney.
Mr. Coleman
Steven Chase Coleman, 21, of Beech Grove Community, Tenn., formerly of Lampasas, died May 22, 2004 at his residence.
Funeral services were May 25 at Bell Buckle First United Methodist Church with Pastor Buddy Royston officiating. Burial followed at Hazel Cemetery in Bell Buckle, Tenn.
He was a 2001 graduate of Lampasas High School.
Mr. Coleman was a surveyor and a photographer.
He is survived by his wife, Heather Coleman; a son, Evan Tanner Coleman; his parents, Jamie and Linda Castille; three brothers, Erick, Joshua and Sean; and one sister, Rachel Castille.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Nita Armstrong.

Mr. Ramirez
Joe Ramirez, 57, of Lampasas died May 30, 2004, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.
Rosary will be recited June 1 at 7 p.m. at Dodson-Sneed Funeral Home in Lampasas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated June 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lampasas.
Mr. Ramirez was born March 2, 1947, in Lampasas, to Agapito and Connie Cardona Ramirez.
He graduated from Lampasas High School and had worked for the city of Lampasas, mostly as a cemetery caretaker. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
Survivors include three sisters, Cathy Hull and Edna Deanda, both of Lampasas, and Mary Kemp, of Macon, Ga.; and two brothers, Raul Ramirez and Agapito Ramirez Jr., both of Lampasas.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Richard Ramirez.

Mrs. Swafford
Fannie Swafford, 60, of Burnet died May 28, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services were May 30 at Dodson-Sneed Funeral Home in Lampasas with the Rev. Tommy Billings officiating. Burial followed at Straley Cemetery.
Mrs. Swafford was born May 5, 1944, in Lampasas, to George W. and Lorene Klose Barker.
She lived in Round Rock for many years where she was a leasing agent for Evergreen Properties.
Mrs. Swafford was a licensed real estate agent.
She was married to William Dooley, and he preceded her in death in 1981.
She then married Chuck Swafford in 1990 in Las Vegas
Mrs. Swafford was a Lampasas High School graduate. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband of Burnet; two sons, Terry Dooley, of Round Rock, and Thomas Dooley, of Austin; a sister, Nancy Burton, of Burnet; a brother, Charles Barker, of Burnet; her parents of Burnet; and four grandchildren, William, Heather, Hunter and Heath Dooley.

Mr. Torres
Antonio A. Torres, 58, of Lometa died May 26, 2004, in Lometa.
Funeral Mass was celebrated May 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lampasas with the Rev. James Harnan officiating. Burial was at Senterfitt Cemetery in Lometa.
Mr. Torres was born Feb. 17, 1946, in Lometa, to Reyes and David Ancira Torres.
He married Josie Banda on Oct. 1, 1982, in Lometa.
Mr. Torres was a retired commodity truck driver. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of Lometa; one daughter, JoAnn Lilly, of Lometa; one son, Johnny Molina, of Lometa; a sister, Cecilia Matamoros, of Rogers; three brothers, Tom Torres and Mike Torres, both of Lometa, and George Torres, of Brady; his mother; and five grandchildren, Michael Young, Stephanie Young, Brandon Young, Bryant Lilly and Brandon Lilly.

Mrs. King
Rosie M. King, 71, of Lampasas died May 24, 2004, at her residence.
Funeral services are May 29 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Shelton and Dr. Rick Willis officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. King was born Jan. 24, 1933, in Izoro, to Jim and Julia Richardson Ford.
She married Jack King on July 21, 1950, in Lampasas.
Mrs. King helped her husband run the family grocery store, Spurlin's Grocery and Market, for 25 years.
She attended Jackson Business School and retired from the Hill Country Transit Transport, a program through the local senior center.
Mrs. King served on various committees at First Baptist Church where she was a member.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva Judith Akins, and husband, Frank, of Gonzales, and Carol Kusy, and husband, Doug, of Lampasas; two sons, Frank King, of Lampasas, and Harold Dean King, of San Saba; a sister, Estelle Bramblett, of Sulphur Rock, Ark.; one brother, J.D. Ford, of Lampasas; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Riley Ford and James "Doc" Ford; and by a sister, Vera Hart.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in care of Fay Mullins, 1116 E. Fourth St., Lampasas.

Miss Powell
Moneca Delorise Powell of Lampasas died July 29, 2007, at a Temple hospital. She was 27.
Funeral services are Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church in Killeen with Pastor Shaun L. Moton officiating. Burial will follow at East Moonlight Drive Cemetery in Robinson.
Miss Powell was born Feb. 18, 1980, in Waco, to Almeta and Emanuell Powell.
She was reared and educated in Killeen, Lampasas and Copperas Cove. She currently was attending MHMR Life Skills Program in Copperas Cove, where she was featured along with her fellow students in the June 29, 2007, Copperas Cove Leader Press.
Survivors include her parents of Lampasas; three sisters, Gemeta Powell and Shaka Powell, both of Lampasas, and Angela Cotton, of Waco; a brother, James Powell, of Copperas Cove; and grandmothers, Rebecca Kemper, of Lampasas, and Nancy Powell, of Robinson.
