Mrs. Cook
Burnet resident Lola Bee Cook, 73, died July 30, 2004 at Georgetown Hospital.
Graveside services were Aug. 1 at Senterfitt Cemetery near Lometa with the Rev. Jim Standard officiating.
Mrs. Cook was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Lometa, to George and Eloise Conley Martin.
She married Edwin Charles Cook on Feb. 5, 1947, in Bell County.
Mrs. Cook was a homemaker and a Baptist.
She is survived by four sons, Edwin Charles Cook Jr., of LaPorte, Vincent Cook, of Corpus Christi, Stewart Leslie Cook, of Texas, and Matthew Cook, of Copperas Cove; four daughters, Jeanne Carol Cook, of Marble Falls, Cheryl Lynn Cook, of Burnet, Beverly Ann Inscore, of Pearland, and Ellen Nora Cook, of Killeen; three brothers, Harold Martin, Wilbur Martin and George Martin; two sisters, Sally Ralston and Linda Wright; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, by three sisters and a brother.

Mrs. Pickett
Clara Pickett of Kempner died July 30, 2004, at Regal Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lampasas. She was 86.
Graveside services were Aug. 2 at Smith Cemetery near Kempner with Minister Reid Schaub officiating.
Mrs. Pickett was born Jan. 20, 1918, in the Browning Community in Lampasas County, to Jim and Mae Smith Walker.
She married Elton Pickett on Oct. 29, 1934, in Kempner.
During World War II, Mrs. Pickett worked in an airplane factory in Dallas. From 1945-57, she was a mail carrier. She carried mail from Kempner to Oakalla and back.
Mrs. Pickett and her husband moved to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1964, where she worked as a cashier at the El Cortez until her retirement. They moved back to Kempner in 1979.
She is survived by three sons, Roland Pickett, of Lampasas County, Sam Pickett, of Thorndale, and Dan Pickett, of Las Vegas; two daughters, Jorja Herring, of Kempner, and Thelma Lou Pickett, of Las Vegas; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Pickett was preceded in death by her husband in April 1992, by a son, John Pickett, in 1965, and by a sister, Ima Hammack.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Yeary
Funeral services for William S. "Bill" Yeary, 85, of Lampasas were Aug. 1, 2004, at Dodson-Sneed Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rick Burk of Lampasas officiating. Burial was at Naruna Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Yeary died July 30 at Ruidoso, N.M.
He was born June 21, 1919, in northern Burnet County, the son of Rufus Silas and Pearl Cook Yeary.
Mr. Yeary served during World War II in the 36th Infantry, which was among the first troops that invaded Europe. He earned a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star.
He married Modeana Watson on March 16, 1946, in Belton.
Mr. Yeary was a member of First United Methodist Church of Kempner, AMVETS and Saratoga Masonic Lodge.
He also bred show dogs and was a member of the American Red Bone Coon Hound Association and was honored as Red Bone Man of the Year.
He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Herrmann, of Lampasas; a son and his wife, Billy and Nancy Yeary, of Lampasas; a brother, Willerson Yeary, and wife, Lorena, of Lampasas; and granddaughters, Caley and Carey Yeary.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle and Herman Yeary, and by two sisters, Mary Ella Yeary and Cora Moore.
The family requested memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mr. Bryant
Graveside services for Jimmy Ray Bryant Sr., 68, of Lometa are July 30, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Lometa City Cemetery with Bob McClinton of Family of Faith Church in Lometa officiating.
Mr. Bryant died July 27 at the Olin E. Teague Veterans Hospital in Temple.
He was born May 16, 1936, in Fort Worth, to George Marvin and Virgie Virginia Chasteen Bryant.
Mr. Bryant served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
He married Bertha Farr on Dec. 22, 1958, in Weatherford.
Mr. Bryant was an elder and member of Family of Faith Church.
Survivors include his wife of Lometa; one son, Jimmy Ray Bryant Jr., of Haltom City; two brothers, Bobby Wayne Bryant, of Kennedale, and Marvin Eugene Bryant, of White Settlement; a granddaughter, Jessica Bryant, of Cleburne; two great-grandsons; an aunt; and a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The family requested that memorials be made to the Jimmy Ray Bryant Funeral Fund at the Lometa branch of First State Bank of Central Texas.

Mr. Greer
Shane Nicholaus Greer, 27, of Kempner died July 26, 2004, in Lampasas County.
No formal services will be held locally. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Colorado. His body was cremated.
Mr. Greer was born Dec. 3, 1976, in Denver, Colo.
He was a framer in the construction industry and partner in Dreambuilders Construction Co.
Mr. Greer had lived in Kempner for five years, moving from Colorado.
Survivors include his mother, Debbie Allen Begordis, of Singlewood, Colo.; a son, Eric Greer, of Arizona; and a half-brother, David Miller, of Kempner.

Mrs. Marwitz
Mathilda Alice Marwitz, 89, died July 25, 2004, in Lampasas.
Funeral services were July 28 in Trinity Lutheran Church in Pottsville with Pastor Peter K. Anderson officiating. Burial was at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Marwitz was born June 8, 1915, in Washington County, Texas, to William and Henrietta Schultz Stegemoller.
She married Henry L. Marwitz on Oct. 17, 1935, and they were married 58 years.
Survivors include a son, Alton Marwitz, and wife, Carole, of Lampasas; a daughter, Linda Garza, and husband, Marvin, of Austin; five grandchildren, Greg Marwitz, Doug Marwitz, Glenn Garza, Lynnette May and Melanie Clack; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 23, 1994; by two sisters, Ella Hopper and Nelda Kunkel; and by a brother, Roy Stegemoller.
Pallbearers were Greg Marwitz, Doug Marwitz, Glenn Garza, Larry Clack, W.J. Hooper and John Thornton.

Mrs. Quandt
Evelyn Elizabeth Quandt, 90, of Lampasas died July 24, 2004, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.
No services are scheduled. Cremated remains will be interred in Colorado at a later date.
Mrs. Quandt was born Jan. 5, 1914, in Harford County, Md., to William and Sara Motson Johnson.
She married Robert Leroy Quandt on March 23, 1932, in Harford County, and he preceded her in death in 1990.
Mrs. Quandt retired as an EKG technician in 1973. She was an Episcopalian. She resided in California from 1973 until 1997, when she moved to Lampasas.
Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Quandt, of Lampasas; one son, Daryl Quandt, and wife, Patricia, of Ridgway, Colo.; seven grandchildren, Larry Olds, Vanessa Weiss, Jennifer Robertson, Heather Jones, Jonathan Quandt, Felicia Canzona and Andrea Berg; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and numerous other family members.
She also was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kimberly Olds, and by a brother, Walter Johnson.

Mrs. Allen
Wanda Allen, 79, of Temple died July 19, 2004, at a Temple hospital.
Funeral services are July 23 at 9 a.m. at Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pidcoke Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Leon Junction. She was reared there and attended school there and in Gatesville. She graduated from Gatesville High School.
She married Lloyd Allen in 1952, and they resided most of their married lives in Copperas Cove.
Mrs. Allen was an ordained minister with the Pentecostal Church of God where she pastored churches in Leon Junction, Copperas Cove and Killeen. She was a member of Faith Temple Lighthouse Church in Temple.
Survivors include a son, Don Allen, and wife, Peggy, of Joplin, Mo.; one daughter, Linda Grayson, and husband, Jerry, of Lampasas; three sisters, Mozelle Holtzclaw and Mattie Lee Cox, of Temple, and Mavis Featherston, of Bryan; one brother, Billy Spencer, of Gatesville; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1993, and by a son, Charles Richard (Dickey) Allen, in 1995.
The family requested memorials be made to Faith Temple Lighthouse Church, 820 S. 21st St., Temple, TX 76504.
