Mrs. Upton
Dorothy Montgomery Upton, 84, of Lampasas died Aug. 2, 2002, at Regal Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lampasas.
Funeral services will be Aug. 6 at 10 a.m. at First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas with Minister Joe Baisden officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Mrs. Upton was born Aug. 13,1917, in Kempner, to James Edward and Hattie Bennett Sewell.
She married Audrey O. Upton on Aug. 21, 1963, in Lampasas.
Mrs. Upton was a homemaker and a member of First Street Church of Christ.
She had lived in Lampasas since 1991, moving here from Lebanon, Tenn.
Survivors include her husband of Lampasas; one son, Bob Montgomery, and wife, Cathy, of Brentwood, Tenn.; a stepdaughter and her husband, Vara and Allen Gray, of Georgetown; one sister, Theresa Caveness, of Brady; five grandchildren, Kevin Montgomery, of Nashville, Tenn., DeeDee Cooley and Echo Annette Garrett, both of Marietta, Ga., Lori M. Gray, of Keller, and Teri R. Gray, of Houston; and three great-grandchildren, Caleb and Connor Garrett and Dillon Cooley, all of Marietta.
She was preceded in death by one sister and one brother.

Mrs. Jenuine
Eleanor Jenuine, 90, died Aug. 1, 2002, at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen.
Funeral services were Aug. 5 at Mount Olivet Garden of Memories in Fort Worth, with burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Mrs. Jenuine was born Dec. 1, 1911, in Lometa, the daughter of Steve and Effie Smith.
She worked as a cashier for Buddy's Supermarket and had lived in Forth Worth for many years.
She is survived by a grandson, Jeffery Jones, and wife, Elizabeth, of Austin; two great-granddaughters of Austin; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lane Jones, of Austin; and one sister, Dorothy Derwin, of Lampasas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow D. Jenuine; a daughter, Davida Jones; a son, Charles R. Jones; three brothers; and one sister.

Mr. McAnally
Graveside services for Judson Brynell McAnally, 74, of Lampasas were Aug. 3, 2002, at Bethel Cemetery in Burnet County. Minister Reid Schaub officiated.
Mr. McAnally died July 31 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Coleman, the son of Jim and Lydia Ethel Barnett McAnally.
Mr. McAnally had retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years. He was a boom operator with an aircraft refueling squadron.
He was a member of AMVETS and the VFW and had lived in Lampasas since 1981.
He is survived by two sons, Larry McAnally, of Arlington, and Jim McAnally, of Harker Heights; one daughter, Teresa Smith Summerlin, of Lampasas; one sister, Ruth Wilson, of Houston; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mrs. Tipton
Zulah Mae Tipton, 96, of Lampasas died Aug. 1, 2002, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital.
Funeral services were Aug. 5 at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas with the Rev. C.F. Gable officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Mrs. Tipton was born April 4, 1906, in New Braunfels, the daughter of Berry and Hattie Durham.
She married Woodrow B. "Woody" Tipton on July 8, 1938, in New Braunfels.
Mrs. Tipton was a homemaker and had been a longtime Lampasas resident.
She was a president of the Stewardesses and missionary Board at St. Paul I.M.E. Church in Lampasas.
She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 10, 2001, and by three brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Smith
Funeral services for Royce Elden Smith, 71, of Horseshoe Bay were July 31, 2002, at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas with Dr. Ricky Burk officiating. Burial followed at Smith Cemetery at Kempner.
Mr. Smith died July 27 at Kerrville.
He was born Nov. 1, 1930, in Kempner, the son of Roy and Maggie Fay Adams Smith.
He married Kathy Garrett on June 5, 1955, in Grand Prairie.
Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He attended Abilene Christian University, Baylor University and Texas Tech University. He earned a degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
He was a member of the Baytown Optimist Club and a co-founder of the Baytown YMCA. He coached peewee football and Little League baseball. He was a golfer and a square dancer.
Mr. Smith was a member of United Methodist Church of Canyon Lake and had lived in Horseshoe Bay just over a year, moving there from Canyon Lake, where he had resided for 13 years.
He was a compensation director at Exxon Corp. U.S.A., retiring in 1983.
Survivors include his wife of Horseshoe Bay; a son, Barry Smith, and wife, Dori, of Humble; a daughter, Cheryl Cagle, and husband, Richard, of Baytown; and three grandchildren, Holly Cagle, of Baytown, and Rachel Smith and Grayson Smith, both of Humble.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Gary Lynn Smith.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice.

Mr. Stephens
Lute Alexander Stephens, 96, of Lampasas died July 20, 2002, at Spring Oaks Terrace Nursing Home in Lampasas.
Graveside services were July 31 at Kempner City Cemetery.
Mr. Stephens was born July 1, 1906, in Tioga, Texas, the son of William Marcus and Elizabeth Henderson Stephens.
He married Audrey Beall on Aug. 11, 1935, in San Antonio.
Mr. Stephens was a former owner of Fashion Cleaners in Lampasas. He was a Mason.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas and had resided in the community for 30 years.
Survivors include two sons, Charles H. Stephens, of Denton, and Michael L. Stephens, of Willis; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife.
The family requested memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Lampasas.

Mrs. Beavers
Funeral services for Peggy Laverne Beavers, 72, of Lampasas were July 27, 2002, at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Elvis Fisher officiating. Burial followed at Kempner City Cemetery.
Mrs. Beavers died July 24 at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen.
She was born April 23, 1930, in Arizona, to Freeman and Amanda Broadway Cook.
She was married to Melvin Beavers.
Mrs. Beavers was a homemaker and a member of Broad Street Church of Christ. She had lived in the community for more than 45 years.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Beavers, and wife, Sandra, of Stephenville, and Terry Beavers, of Lampasas; a daughter, Peggy Brundidge, and husband, Randy, of Springdale, Ark.; two brothers, Ed Cook, of Killeen, and Joe Cook, of Copperas Cove; three sisters, Janice Simpson and Genevieve Kelley, both of Lampasas, and Milly LeMaster, of Grayling, Mich.; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, one brother and one grandchild.

Ethan Mitchell
Ethan Jay Mitchell, the 8-year-old son of Ben and Joy Mitchell, passed away Aug. 3, 2007 after a brave battle with leukemia.
Funeral services will be Aug. 11 at 10 a.m. at Bannockburn Baptist Church, 7100 Brodie Lane in Austin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Graveside services are set for 3 p.m. at Hines Chapel Cemetery north of Adamsville on U.S. Highway 281.
Ethan was born Oct. 17, 1998 in Austin.
He loved swimming and riding his bike. He also was an intense game player, whether it be a board game or a video game. Ethan also was adept at building with Legos, and he was the strongest leg on his soccer team.
An avid reader who loved learning, Ethan enjoyed chemistry sets and wanted to be a scientist and inventor.
He had accepted Jesus as his Savior and prayed every night.
Ethan was diagnosed with leukemia at age 6 and faced his medical trials with a positive attitude. He worried more about his parents' well-being than his own. He also was a compassionate and protective big brother.
He is survived by his parents and a 2 1/2-year-old brother, Logan Mitchell, all of Spring; grandparents David and Susan Mitchell of Austin; great-grandmother Susan Dunn of Buda; great-grandfather Mack Garner of Lampasas; and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Ethan was preceded in death by grandparents Kermit and Josephine Crawford, who lived in Buda.
