Mrs. Edwards
Graveside services for Geraldine Doss Edwards, 55, of Austin were June 26, 2005, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Mrs. Edwards died June 24 at Bertram Nursing Home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1949, in Milam County, the daughter of Rufus and Gladys Key Doss.
Mrs. Edwards was a utility department manager for the University of Texas at Austin.
She is survived by a son, Christopher Michael Edwards; and two granddaughters, Sierra and Cheyenne Edwards.

Mrs. Martin
Funeral services for Ester Martin, 98, of Lometa were June 27, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Lometa with the Rev. Butch Perkins officiating. Burial was at Eastlawn Memorial Park in Brownwood.
Mrs. Martin died June 23 at Spring Oaks Nursing & Rehab in Lampasas.
She was born March 10, 1907, at Jordan Springs in Brown County, to Nathaniel and Mary Porter Simmons.
She married Walter Harvey Martin in Jordan Springs, and he preceded her in death in 1990.
Mrs. Martin had lived in Lometa since 1973, and had previously lived in San Angelo.
She was a homemaker, a member of Lometa First Baptist Church and enjoyed her Bridge Club and playing 42.
She is survived by a daughter, Pat Rademacher, and husband, Harold (Buff), of Austin; two grandchildren, Linda Orellana, and husband, Bill, of Nashville, Tenn., and Bill Rademacher, and wife, Shannon, of Houston; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Nichols Rademacher, of Houston, Kristi Barker, and husband, Dennis, of Norfolk, Va., and Karee Orellana, of Nashville; and two great-great-grandsons, Nicholas and Will Barker, of Norfolk.
She also was preceded in death by a brother, Porter Simmons.
The family requested memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Lometa.

Mrs. Raigoza
Isabel Raigoza, 66, of Empalme, Sonora Mexico, died June 23, 2005, at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas. She was visiting relatives in Lampasas.
Funeral services will be held in Empalme.

Mr. Elam
Funeral services for retired school teacher and administrator Charlie C. Elam, 92, of Lampasas were June 26, 2005, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Willis officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Mr. Elam died June 22 at Metroplex Hospital in Killeen.
He was born May 25, 1913, in Runnels County, the son of Lemuel and Cora Blackburn Elam.
Mr. Elam was reared in Miles, and attended Tarleton State College. He received a bachelor of arts degree from Howard Payne University and later earned a master's degree from Southwest Texas State University. He had completed all of his classroom work toward a PhD at the University of Texas at Austin.
Mr. Elam began his teaching career at Kempner in the 1930s, where he first became familiar with the Lampasas area. There, he met fellow teacher Audrey Garner. They married in 1938.
He was high school principal at Richland Springs when World War II began.
Mr. Elam enlisted in the U.S. Army and saw service in both Europe and Asia from 1942-45. He was with the occupation forces that moved into Germany and later into Japan.
After the war, he returned to Lampasas where he taught eighth-grade history and social studies. He also served as principal of the junior high school for 12 years in the 1950s and 1960s, retiring in 1971, after a teaching career of more than 30 years.
Mr. Elam was a member of First Baptist Church of Lampasas where he served as a deacon, and was recognized as a 50-year member of the American Legion, where he was a past post commander. He also was a Mason.
His wife preceded him in death in 1987, after 49 years of marriage.
In 1994, Mr. Elam married Claudia Kirby Phelan.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; a daughter, Judy Montgomery, of Torrance, Calif.; stepdaughters, Nancy Stoneberg and Mary Shifflett, of Lampasas; step-grandchildren, Thomas Shifflett, Jason Stoneberg and Sarah Watson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by a brother, J.C. Elam of Evant, and by a sister, Poncyne Weaver of San Angelo.
The family requested memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Evans
Graveside services for Judy Carlile Evans, 63, of Bastrop are July 19, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Lometa City Cemetery.
Mrs. Evans died July 15.
She was born April 9, 1942, in Lampasas, to Albert Bland and Vera Gerty Carlile.
After working some time in the offices of the city of Bastrop, Mrs. Evans was employed as court clerk in the Justice of the Peace Precinct 1 and 3 office. She was later elected Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace when the two precincts separated. She retired after serving 17 years.
Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Virgil Evans, of Bastrop; two daughters, Carol Barron and Cheryl Klaus, both of Bastrop; a sister, Martha Lynch, of Irving; and four grandchildren, Kyle Barron, Tyler Barron, Adrienne Klaus and Kirsten Klaus, all of Bastrop.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Francis Marian Carlile and Kinneth Ray Carlile.
The family requested memorials be made to American Cancer Society or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Mr. Hall
Funeral services for Danny Hall, 61, of Kempner were July 21, 2005, at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas with Pastor Dan Mason officiating. Burial followed at Hillsdale Cemetery at Izoro.
Mr. Hall died July 18 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 8, 1943, in Knott County, Ky., to Nash and Etta Bates Hall.
Mr. Hall married Donna Mason on Nov. 28, 1963, in Lampasas.
His occupation was hay baling. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife of Kempner; two sons, Ronnie Hall, and wife, Ashlea, and Paul Hall, and wife, Lisa, all of Lampasas; two daughters, Brenda Smith and Melissa Burney, both of Lampasas; grandchildren, Stephanie Smith, Tiffany Hall, Levi Burney and Steven Key, all of Lampasas, and Rebecca Hobbs of Gatesville; and a great-granddaughter, Kylie Hobbs, of Gatesville.
Others are four brothers, Elver Hall, and wife, Verna, of Liberty Hill, Noble Hall, of Columbus, Ohio, Fess Hall, and wife, Minnie, of Hall, Ky., and Arlis Hall, and wife, Janet, of Michigan; two sisters, Ocie Webster, and husband, Mickey, of Tennessee, and Lillian Johnson, of Michigan; a sister-in-law, Oma Pickett, of Kempner; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Lola Mason; and by a niece.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Lenz
Otto Philip Lenz, 77, of Lampasas died July 14, 2005, at his residence.
A memorial service will be July 24 at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Kelly Chadwick officiating.
Mr. Lenz was born Dec. 13, 1927, in Louisville, Ky., to Henry and Amelia Moenkhaus Lenz.
He served in the U.S. Army as a medic during World War II.
On April 9, 1948, Mr. Lenz married Marie Morrison in Louisville.
He retired from Plumbers Supply in Louisville where the couple had been longtime residents. They moved to Lampasas in 2003.
Mr. Lenz was a colonel in the Honorable Order of the Kentucky Colonels. He also was a past president of the local chapter of the American Society of Tool Metallurgical Engineers in Lexington, Ky.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lampasas.
Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; sons, Phillip Lenz, of Bastrop; and Henry Lenz, and wife, Mary, of Woodland Park, Colo.; a daughter, Laura Lenz Sakow, and husband, Nolan, of Honolulu, Hawaii; three grandchildren, Amanda Lenz, of Woodland Park, Tonya Lenz Shriver, and husband, Tim, of Pflugerville, and Thomas Lenz, of Lampasas.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Otto Jeffery Lenz.

Mrs. Sams
Funeral services for Billie Louise Sams, 82, of Lampasas were July 18, 2005, at Dodson Funeral Home with the Rev. Kelly Chadwick officiating. Burial was at Oak Hill Cemetery East.
Mrs. Sams died July 15 at her residence.
She was born March 5, 1923, in Piggott, Ark., the daughter of William and Mary Tabitha Crews Mowery. She attended school there.
Mrs. Sams worked for Bruce Lowry Chevrolet in Fort Worth, and moved to Lampasas, in the early 1990s, where she was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
She was a member of the National Cutting Horse Association and the American Quarter Horse Association.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Kelly Kerr, of Mansfield; a grandson, Dale Lane, of Venus, Texas; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Kaysen and Lincoln Kerr, of Mansfield, and Emily Lane, of Venus; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard Lane, in 2001, and by two sisters.

Mrs. Smith
Gilberta "Berta" Smith of Lampasas died July 16, 2005, at Regal Nursing & Rehab in Lampasas. She was 89.
Graveside services are July 19 at 10 a.m. at Rock Church Cemetery near Rumley.
Mrs. Smith was born June 18, 1916, in Graham, to Fred and Lettie Storm Jolly.
As an infant, the family moved to Lampasas County, and with the exception of a few years when she lived in Oakland, Calif., during World War II, Mrs. Smith lived the remainder of her life in Lampasas County.
She married Joe Bailey Gotcher and he preceded her in death in 1966. She later married Willie B. Smith, and he preceded her in death in 1983.
Mrs. Smith and her mother operated Jolly's Store in Rumley until Mrs. Smith's retirement in 1981.
She was a talented musician and enjoyed playing "84."
Survivors include a son, Clayton Gotcher, of Lampasas; five grandchildren, Lee Gotcher, Nikki Devillier, Clayton Gotcher Jr. and Bryan Gotcher; and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ace Donald Gotcher, and by a sister, Josephine Howell in 1998.
