Mrs. Williams
Funeral services for Frances Williams, 93, of Lampasas were July 16, 2005, at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas with Minister Reid Schaub officiating. Burial followed at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams died July 14 at Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas.
She was born Oct. 1, 1912, in Oakalla, to Jerry Solomon and Lucy Virginia Perry Terry.
Mrs. Williams was a resident of Lampasas since she was 18 years old. She was married to Cecil A. Williams on April 3, 1930, in Lampasas.
Mrs. Williams retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone where she was a supervisor.
She was a member of Central Christian Church, Woodmen of the World, American Legion, Quilting Club and a square dance club.
Mrs. Williams organized senior dances, helped restore Hancock Park, served as secretary of her Sunday School class, sang in the church choir, helped with the Lions Club meals and volunteered for many other community activities.
She is survived by a daughter, Eva Jo Davis, of Spring; two grandsons, Glenn Davis and Kirk Davis; four great-grandchildren, Christian, Justin, Karinna and Kara Davis; and two great-great-grandchildren, Abigail and Julliett Davis.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, William Jeffery Davis, and by a great-grandson, Shannon Davis.

Mrs. Aguirre
Martha Aguirre, 96, of Lampasas died July 10, 2005, at her residence.
Rosary was recited July 14 at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Chapel. Funeral mass is July 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. James Harnan officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
She was born July 29, 1908, in Brady, to Albert and Franisica Castillo Aguirre.
She married Frank Aguirre, and he preceded her in death in July 2000.
Mrs. Aguirre was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Guadalupanas. She was a Red Cross volunteer for many years.
Survivors include five daughters, Benita Maldonado, Ramona Achord and Lucia Curiel, all of Lampasas, Frances Lawrence, of Kempner, and Mary Brown, of Dallas; three sons, Carlos Aguirre, of Lubbock, Marcelino Aguirre, of Tucson, Ariz., and Raymond Aguirre, of Roger, Ark.; three sisters, Franisica Perez, of San Angelo, Trina Hernandez, of Brownwood, and Ascension Morua, of Goldthwaite; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jose and Santos Aguirre, and by two sisters, Ventura Garza and Melitona Hernandez.
The family requests memorials be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or VistaCare Hospice in Temple.

Mr. Bostick
Lometa resident Kenneth Bostick died July 10, 2005, at his residence. He was 81.
Funeral services were July 14 at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas with the Rev. Doyle Combs officiating. Burial followed at Rock Church Cemetery near Rumley.
Mr. Bostick was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Brownwood, the son of George Milton and Verna Elliott Bostick.
He married Earlene Pearce and she preceded him in death.
Mr. Bostick served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Lometa's First Baptist Church.
He was an avid rattlesnake hunter and was instrumental in the Lometa Diamondback Jubilee.
He is survived by nieces and nephews, George Martin, Robert Perkins, Carolyn Black and Sharon Hall; great-nieces and great-nephews, DeRose Janecka, Caycee Black, Wendi Black, Whitney Hall and Travis Hall; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews, Justin and Katy Janecka and Heather and Brandon Martin.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Elizabeth Bostick.
The family requested memorials be made to Rock Church Cemetery or to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Wilder
Avah Arlyne Wilder, 93, of Bertram, formerly of Lampasas, died July 10, 2005, in Austin.
Graveside services were July 14 at Spring Creek Cemetery near San Saba.
Mrs. Wilder was born April 19, 1912, in Goldthwaite, to James William and Adella Smith Hopson.
She married Henry Marvin Wilder on Nov. 19, 1933, in San Saba.
Mrs. Wilder was a homemaker and a Methodist. She enjoyed bowling and golf.
She had lived in Lampasas County for 40 years, and the last seven years in Bertram.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Nellie Rashell, of Bertram; a niece, Jo Holley, of Lampasas; other relatives, Jim and Beverly Hurlbut, Britt Hopson, Hilton Hopson, Shirlene Bishop, Norma Verneau, Chris Worley and others.
Mrs. Wilder was preceded in death by her husband, on Feb. 3, 1996, by a son, Jerry Rashell, and by two brothers and five sisters.
The family requested memorials be made to Hospice Austin Christopher House, 2820 E. MLK, Austin, TX 78702.

Ms. Lancaster
Loene Harrell Lancaster, 86, of Lampasas died July 3, 2005, at Live Oak Medical Center in Blanco.
A memorial service was July 7 at First Baptist Church in Lampasas with Dr. Rick Willis officiating.
Ms. Lancaster was born June 8, 1919, in Nueces County, to Raymond Lewis and Maude Anderson Harrell.
The Harrell family moved to Adamsville in 1919, when Ms. Lancaster was less than a year old. She attended school in Adamsville, and completed her education in San Marcos, where she graduated from high school while rooming with her sister, Irene, who was a student at Southwest Texas Teachers College.
She married William Edward (Billy) Lancaster on May 19, 1940, and they moved to Fort Worth.
Ms. Lancaster returned to the family home when her children were small. They attended First Baptist Church in Lampasas.
In the early 1960s, she moved to Lampasas where she lived until November 2003, when she moved to Blanco to be with her daughter.
Ms. Lancaster attended business school and for a short time worked as a bookkeeper.
For more than 35 years she was the director of the nursery at First Baptist Church in Lampasas, where she was a member.
She is survived by a daughter, Dr. Linda L. McDonald, of Blanco; a son, James Edward (Jim) Lancaster, of Hallettsville; a sister, Dorothy Marie Harrell Herrmann, of Lampasas; grandchildren, O.L. (Mark) McDonald, of Marble Falls, Suzannah McDonald Crump, of Broken Arrow, Okla., Sydney McDonald Bond, of Lubbock, and Raymond Lancaster, of Hallettsville; great-grandchildren, Morgan Crump, Brittney Bond, Brandon Bond and Nathan Lancaster; and by many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur Owen (Bill) Harrell and Raymond Travis (Ray) Harrell, and by a sister, Irene Harrell Jackson.
The family requested memorials be made to the nursery program at First Baptist Church, 402 S. Key Ave., Lampasas.

Mr. Cole
Aston Cole, 91, of Lampasas died July 31, 2005, at a Lubbock nursing home.
Funeral services are pending.

Mrs. Blackard
Mary Christina Blackard, 85, of Kempner died July 28, 2005, in Killeen.
Funeral services were July 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lampasas with the Rev. James Harnan officiating. A service also was held July 31 at Bates-Copper-Sloan Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial was at Nevills Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Blackard was born Dec. 27, 1919, in Killimor, Ireland, where she was reared and educated. She was the daughter of Patrick Joseph and Mary Larkin Whyte.
She was a homemaker and had lived in the community for 13 years.
She is survived by her husband, Morris Blackard, of Kempner, formerly of Mt. Pleasant; sons, Patrick Blackard, of Round Rock, and William Blackard, of Kempner; daughters, Mary Hardy, of Fort Worth, Ann Soule, of Austin, and Kathleen Garcia, of Kerrville; a brother, Brenden Whyte, of Nevan, Ireland; sisters, Delia Whyte, of Killimor, and Josephine Pickering, of Sidney, Australia; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Mitchell
Don Mitchell, 77, of the Harman Community died July 29, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services were Aug. 1, 2005, at Gatesville Funeral Home with the Rev. Nathan Booth officiating. Burial was at Pidcoke Cemetery.
Mr. Mitchell was born Sept. 5, 1927, in Temple, the son of Foster and Bertha Robinett Mitchell.
He grew up and went to school in the Pidcoke and Harman communities and in Gatesville.
Mr. Mitchell married JoAnn Wilkins on June 9, 1951, and they resided in the Harman Community all of their married lives.
He was a rancher and a 50-year member of Pidcoke Baptist Church where he was a deacon.
He is survived by his wife of the Harman Community; daughters, Gena Baize, and husband, Mike, of the Harman Community, and Kay Stoldt, and husband, Mike, of Angleton; granddaughters, Laura Manning, and husband, Jason, and Mary Rox, and husband, Josh; a brother, Jack Mitchell, of Gatesville; and a great-grandson.
The family requested memorials be made to Pidcoke Baptist Church, 11231 FM 116, Gatesville, TX 76528.
Gatesville Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Oakley
Barbara Sue Oakley, 73, of Austin died July 29, 2005, at Seton Medical Center in Austin.
Funeral services are Aug. 3 at 11 a.m. at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel in Lampasas. Burial will follow at Rock Church Cemetery near Rumley.
Mrs. Oakley was born May 22, 1932, in Copperas Cove, to Jack Horace and Feraline Garner Gilmore.
She was the valedictorian of the Lampasas High School Class of 1949.
On Aug. 18, 1952, she married Willis Albert (Bill) Oakley, at the Southwestern University Chapel in Georgetown.
Mrs. Oakley graduated from Southwestern University with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and was involved in the USAF Family Services. She was a blood donor and her volunteer work included sewing for the battered women's shelter and the Darden Hill Boys Ranch.
Mrs. Oakley had lived the past 36 years in Austin and attended Berkeley United Methodist Church.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed needlecraft, gardening and collecting hedgehogs.
She is survived by her husband of Austin; two sons, Richard Oakley, of Vernal, Utah, and Wayne Oakley, and wife, Gwen, of San Antonio; two daughters, Christine LeClair, and husband, Donald, of Dripping Springs, and Lisa Smith, and husband, Z, of Austin; a sister, Anne Armstrong, of Tucson, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Rebecca Oakley, Jessica Oakley, Jonathan Oakley, Brent LeClair, Suzanne LeClair, Tyler Smith, Christi Beck, Laura Sample and Nathan LeClair; numerous great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice.
