Mrs. Baxter
Edna Ray Whitehead Baxter, 89, of Stephenville, formerly of Lometa, died Aug. 16, 2005, at Community Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stephenville.
Funeral services were Aug. 20 at 11 a.m. at Lometa Church of Christ with Homer Anderson and Charles Boren officiating. Burial followed at Senterfitt Cemetery near Lometa.
Mrs. Baxter was born June 2, 1916, in Lampasas County, to Otis and Nora Lee Anderson Brooks. She grew up in Lometa where she attended school.
On Aug. 4, 1934, she married David Leroy Whitehead in Lometa, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 1977.
She then married Audrey Baxter on Aug. 21, 1982, in Bend. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2001.
Mrs. Baxter was a homemaker and a member of the Lometa Church of Christ and First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas, and attended Hillcrest Church of Christ in Stephenville.
Survivors include children, Maxine Anderson, and husband, Homer, of Alice, Weldon Whitehead, and wife, Layla, of Stephenville, Rita Jo Boren, and husband, Charles, of Kosse, Charles Glynn Whitehead, of Lampasas, and Kathye Schaefer, and husband, Tom, of Lockhart; a sister, Lucille Day, of Tucson, Ariz.; and a half-sister, Fannie Jo Harris, and husband, Bud, of Lometa.
Other survivors are sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Forehand, of Lampasas, Grace Whitehead and Pat Whitehead, both of Lometa, Beth Whitehead, of Whitney, Adele Davis, of Georgetown, and Melba Brooks, of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Brad Anderson, Greg Anderson, Kim Funkhouser, and husband, Gerald, Lane Anderson, and wife, Julie, Clint Whitehead, Wade Whitehead, and wife, Janna, Todd Whitehead, Scott Whitehead, David Boren, and wife, Heather, Sabrina Barry, and husband, Shawn, Justin Schaefer and Travis Schaefer; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Ellen Brooks; by a brother, Dewey Brooks; and a half-brother, Kenneth Brooks.

Mrs. Hall
Funeral services for Gladys Vera Long Hall, 91, of Lampasas are Aug. 24, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Reid Schaub officiating. Burial will follow at Copperas Cove City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hall died Aug. 21 in a Georgetown hospital.
She was born Aug. 4, 1914, in Goldthwaite, to John Henry and Nola Randles Long.
She married Johnnie Lee "Cobb" Hall in Gatesville on Jan. 12, 1954.
Mrs. Hall had lived in Lampasas since 1954, and previously resided in Goldthwaite.
She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Survivors include her children, John Wayne Davis, and wife, Lois, of Waco, Vera Warren, of Oglesby, Dianna Buchanan and BranDe Merriman, both of LaVernia, and Connie Ballard, of Waxahachie; three sisters, Beatrice Wallace, of Bertram, Johnnie Cartwright, of Lampasas, and Darlene Wallace, of Arlington; a brother, Louis Long, of Goldthwaite; a sister-in-law, Juanita Irwin, of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Marty Warren, Margie Coombs, Denis Warren, Terry Clendenon, Michael Davis, Tim Clendenon and Jodi Shaw; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 3, 2001; by a daughter, Wanda Syfrett; two sisters, Velma Nix and Wilma Bramlett; a brother, Henry Long; two sons-in-law, Andrew Syfrett and Joe Warren; and by two great-grandchildren, D.J. Cockerham and Cathy Warren.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Hanzelka
John Thomas Hanzelka, 60, of Lampasas died Aug. 17, 2005, at Cross County Care Center in Brownwood.
There will be no service. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Hanzelka had lived in Lampasas since 1988 after his retirement from the U.S. Army after more than 20 years of service.
He was a Cobra helicopter pilot in Germany, Korea and Vietnam.
Mr. Hanzelka married Pilar Torres on May 26, 1977, in Copperas Cove.
He was a Baptist and a member of the Kempner VFW. His hobbies included motorcycle riding, gunsmithing and golf.
Survivors include his wife of Lampasas; four sons, John Todd Hanzelka and James Craig Hanzelka, both of Houston, Victor William Ward, of Alaska, and John Thomas Hanzelka II, of Lampasas; one daughter, Tomi Kiele, of North Dakota; a sister, Virginia Ezell, of Marble Falls; seven grandchildren; and two nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by a sister, Delores Raney.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Mr. Kiser
Ronnie "Ron" Amos Kiser, 31, of Lawrenceville, Ga., formerly of Lampasas, died Aug. 6, 2005, from injuries sustained in an accident.
Funeral services were Aug. 10 at Oaknoll Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home in Rome, Ga., with the Rev. Bill Adams officiating.
Mr. Kiser was born Feb. 1, 1974, in Lampasas, to Richard and Roberta Joyce Cornett Kiser.
He graduated from Lampasas High School and was a junior at Kennesaw State University where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi and was former historian/treasurer.
Mr. Kiser was a body builder. He enjoyed skiing, working on computers and fixing his house with his father.
He is survived by his parents; his stepmother, Angela "Jean" Kiser, of Rome, Ga.; two brothers, Richard Kiser Jr., and wife, Alicia, of Copperas Cove, and Russell Kiser, of Lampasas; four nephews; and two nieces.
The family requested memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mrs. Sanchez
Marie Rose Sanchez, 70, of Lometa died Aug. 16, 2005, at her residence.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body will be cremated.
Mrs. Sanchez was born Nov. 20, 1934, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Arch Angelo and Rose Marie Brezeer DiGioia.
She was married to Alfred Sanchez, and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Sanchez was a homemaker. She enjoyed horses, traveling, drawing and people.
She moved to Lampasas in 1990, then to Lometa in 1996.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Kay Farlardeau, and husband, John, of Whiteing, Ill., Rosealice Rodriquez, of Chicago, Terri Joy Sanchez, and husband, Gookim, of Copperas Cove, and Charlene Sanchez, of Lometa; two sons, David DeLeo, of Chicago, and Anthony DeLeo, and wife, Carol, of San Saba; two brothers, Luke DiGioia, of Chicago, and Arty DiGioia, and wife, Helen, of Illinois; a sister, Shirley Wierma, and husband, Chuck, of Palestine; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Mrs. Eckert
Funeral services for Nettie Mathilda Hasse Eckert, 103, of Lometa were Aug. 8, 2005, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason. The Rev. Charles Eckert officiated. Burial was in Gooch Cemetery.
Mrs. Eckert died Aug. 2 at Brister Care Home in Lometa.
She was born July 30, 1902, in the home of her parents, John and Mathilda Hasse, in the Art community of Mason County, then called Plehweville.
In July 1915, Mrs. Eckert was confirmed in the Methodist Episcopal Church in Art and taught Sunday School for many years.
She married Arthur William Eckert on May 18, 1933, and they lived on a ranch in the Long Mountain Community in Menard County.
After her marriage, Mrs. Eckert became an active member if St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason. She taught Sunday School for 10 years and was secretary of the church board and active in the women's organization.
Mrs. Eckert enjoyed oil painting, gardening and flower arranging. She was president of the Mason Garden Club and a member of the Bluebonnet Study Club. She played bridge for many years.
She is survived by a daughter, Charlene Eckert Nash, and husband, Mark, of Lampasas; two grandchildren, Mark Nash III, and wife, Judy, of Mason, and Virginia Hodges, and husband, William Anderson (Andy), of Tyler;five great-grandchildren, Mark William, Zachary Carl and Abigail Marie, all of Mason, and Andrew Norcross and Margaret Ann Hodges, both of Tyler; and three nieces and a nephew.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1985; by a sister, Mrs. Roy (Ella) Capps; and by two brothers, Ben and Charlie.
Pallbearers were Mark Nash, Will Nash, Zach Nash, Andy Hodges, Andy Norcross, Jack Lee, Jeff Owen and Doug Brister.
Honorary pallbearers were nieces, Linda Owen, Laverne Lee, Nancy Hasse, and Joan Williams, Margarine Beaman and Kathy Doerfler Pancoast.

Mr. Landtroop
Wendell Coyt Landtroop Jr., 62, of Lampasas died Aug. 12, 2005, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held in Post, Texas, at a later date at Hudman Funeral Home, 615 W. Main St.
Mr. Landtroop was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Post, to Wendell Coyt and Imogene McDougle Landtroop Sr.
He married Josephine Lavelle Nichols on Dec. 30, 1961, in Sulphur Springs.
Mr. Landtroop served in the U.S. Army for more than 20 years, retiring in 1980 as an E-7.
He had lived in Lampasas for the past eight years, coming from the Abilene area.
Mr. Landtroop was a member of the Brownwood chapter of the VFW and a member of the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment Association.
His hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, riding horses, military history, science fiction movies and computers.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; three daughters, Jeannie Lavelle and Nathan Bennett, of Cego, Jacquelyn and Michael Walker, of Trent, and Wendi Landtroop, of Lampasas; his mother of Merkel; a brother, Charles Glen and Sabrina Landtroop, of Merkel; a sister, Jeanne and Weldon Brookshire, of Pecos; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Charles Coyt Landtroop, on July 1, 1965, and by his father.
