Mrs. Benson
Graveside services for Catherine Jane McNamara Benson, 66, of Lampasas are Feb. 28, 2006, at 4 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas. Harry Hendrix will officiate.
Mrs. Benson died Feb. 25 at her residence.
She was born July 11, 1939, in Loup City, Neb., to Daniel and Letha George McNamara.
She married James Robert Benson on Oct. 1, 1960, in Portland, Ore.
The couple moved to Lampasas in July 1979.
Mrs. Benson owned and operated Slip Away Ceramics Shop and was part owner of Only Yours & Truly Special. She was active in Girl Scouts of America.
Survivors include two daughters, April Burdine and Karen Gonzalez, both of Lampasas; a son, Randy Benson, of Lampasas; two sisters, Charlotte Hoppman, of Portland, Ore., and Delores McNamara, of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren, Kevin Miller, Amber Miller, Christopher Nash, James Nash and Tabetha Nash; a great-granddaughter. Paytyne Miller-Hubble; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 7, 1992; by her in-laws, Floyd and Opal Benson; and a brother, Lawrence McNamara.

Mr. Bowman
James Reginald "Reggie" Bowman, 62, of Abilene died Feb. 22, 2006, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.
Funeral services were Feb. 24 at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene with the Rev. Stan Allcorn and Brother Jack Ridlehoover officiating. Burial followed at Concord Cemetery near Waco.
Mr. Bowman was born March 25, 1943, in Richardson, to James D. and Virginia L. Schmitt Bowman. He graduated from high school in Lancaster.
On June 11, 1965, Mr. Bowman married Elizabeth Darlene Moran in Waco.
He attended Howard Payne College and graduated in 1968, and then attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Mr. Bowman served in various staff positions at Baptist churches in several cities, including Palestine, Odessa, Lampasas, Del City, Okla., and Hobbs, N.M.
In Bozeman, Mont., he was director of Baptist Student Ministry at Montana State University.
In 1999, Mr. Bowman moved to Abilene from Palestine. He was the minister of education at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church before retiring in October 2005.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; his parents of Lancaster; a son, Greg Bowman, and wife, Ginger, of Duncanville; a daughter, Melody Bowman, of Arlington; three brothers, Rodney Bowman, and wife, Joan, of Angleton, Ernie Bowman, and wife, Becky, of Fate, and Terry Bowman, and wife, Lee Ann, of Wichita Falls; a grandchild, Caleb James Bowman; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Blodgett
Funeral services for Euva Janie Blodgett, 94, of Lometa are Feb. 25, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Lometa Church of Christ with Minister Darnell Boyd officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery.
Family will receive friends Feb. 24 from 6-7 p.m. at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home in Lampasas.
Mrs. Blodgett died Feb. 21 at Brownwood Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 2, 1911, in Moline, to Arl and Ola Reeder Hightower.
She married James Blodgett on Nov. 30, 1933, in Lometa.
Mrs. Blodgett was a lifetime resident of the area. She was a homemaker and a member of Lometa Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Judy Blodgett, of San Antonio; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1988, and by a son, James Blodgett, in 1992.

Mr. Reavis
Howard Newell Reavis, 67, of Killeen died Feb. 17, 2006, in Killeen.
Funeral services were Feb. 20 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Killeen with Pastor Ray Zischang officiating. Burial was at Tobey Cemetery at Oakalla.
Mr. Reavis was born Nov. 3, 1938, in Oakalla, to Howard and Buna Estelle Cameron Reavis.
While being reared in a farming and ranching family, Newell attended school in Oakalla and Briggs.
After school, Mr. Reavis began to work for the U.S. Government, and on Nov. 26, 1960, he married Joyce Ann Vahrenkamp.
After retirement from Civil Service, he kept busy and was active helping youths with their 4-H and FFA projects. He and his wife enjoyed traveling to shows and sales to watch the kids.
Mr. Reavis was an active supporter of the Killeen Junior Livestock Show, Killeen's Youth Booster Club, Trimmier 4-H and Texas Lamb Breeders Association. He attended and supported Immanuel Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of Killeen; a daughter, Fonda Bright, and husband, Terry, of Desoto; a son, Brad Reavis, and wife, Pam, of Killeen; four grandchildren, Brittainy and Kyle Reser, of Desoto, and Jake and Heston Reavis, of Killeen; a brother, David Reavis, and wife, Charlene, of Killeen; a sister, Cleota Matheny, of Oakalla; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Randy Kelder, Buddy Lindsey, Roy Levy, Shorty Smith, Brent Bliton and Decil Reavis.
Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Paul Smith, James (Harpo) Pierce and Clint Griffin.

Mr. Rice
Funeral services for Charlie "Pete" Rice, 91, of Lampasas are Feb. 21, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel with Minister Reid Schaub officiating. Burial will follow at Davis Cemetery in Burnet County.
Mr. Rice was born June 26, 1914, in Lake Victor, the son of Charlie and Mary Davis Rice.
He was married to May Malendia. He was a farmer and rancher.
Mr. Rice was a member of First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and basketball fan.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife; by a son, Glenn Paul Rice; by five brothers, Luther, Virgil, Loy, Alfred Henry and Ozias; and by three sisters, Myrtle Yazell, Ora Tittle and Dora Rice.
The family requested memorials be made to the charity of one's choice.

Mr. Whitis
Funeral services for Delbert C. Whitis, 74, of Lampasas were Feb. 18, 2006, at Briggs-Gamel-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Reid Schaub officiating. Burial was at Kempner City Cemetery.
Mr. Whitis died Feb. 16 at Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple.
He was born April 5, 1931, in Kempner, to Lester and Eupha Wheeler Whitis.
Mr. Whitis married Berry Lynn Barker in 1954, in Lampasas.
A graduate of Lampasas High School, he was employed by telephone companies since graduation, starting as a lineman and working up to office manager. In 1992 he retired from Centel Telephone Company in Killeen after 43 years of service.
Mr. Whitis was a lifetime resident of Lampasas and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Saratoga Masonic Lodge and the Texas National Guard. He was a rancher and was well-known for the sheep he raised. He also enjoyed fishing for catfish.
He is survived by his wife of Lampasas; two daughters, Jan L. Vann, and husband, Gary, of Lampasas, and Regina Kay Phinney, and husband, Faron, of Belton; three grandchildren, Kyle and Reese Vann, of Lampasas, and Holly Phinney, of Belton; two brothers, W.L. Whitis, of San Antonio, and Maurice Whitis, and wife, Hula, of Rumley; a sister, Elaine Rushing, and husband, Dr. Joe Rushing, of Lampasas; sisters-in-law, Wanda Whitis, of Abilene, Clara Whitis, of Tyler, Betty Ann Whitis, of Lampasas, and Jean Whitis, of Kempner; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Glenn, Albert, Kline and Donald Whitis, and by a sister, Avis Sparkman.
Pallbearers were Raymond King, Lupe Dimas, Ricky Whitis, Kelly Whitis, David Whitis, Scott Rushing, Brad Lancaster, Ed Straley, Joe Lindsey and Max Keele.

Mrs. Brown
Graveside services for Suell T. Brown, 90, of Mesquite are March 25, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at Tumlinson Family Cemetery in Burnet county. Laura Green will lead the service.
Mrs. Brown died March 20 in Mesquite.
She was born Aug. 9, 1915, at the Tumlinson Ranch in Burnet County, to Charles M. and Myrtle A. Hahn Tumlinson.
On Dec. 9, 1932, she and the Rev. George Hartwell Brown Jr. were married at Lake Victor.
Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and a Baptist, and taught piano and played for church services wherever her husband preached.
Survivors include a daughter, Jeannette B. Cooksey, of Mesquite; two grandchildren, Georgia Sue Waller and Browny Cooksey; and two great-grandchildren, Matthew Waller and Kristal Sue Waller.
She was preceded in death by her husband on July 28, 1997; by brothers, Marion Tumlinson and Roper Tumlinson; and by a son-in-law, Marvin A. Cooksey.

Mrs. McMillen
Virginia McMillen, 73, of Louisville, Ky., died March 21, 2006, at Louisville.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The body was cremated.
Mrs. McMillen was born Aug. 11, 1932, in Louisville. She had resided there nearly all of her life. She was a housewife and a Baptist.
She was married to John McMillen, and he preceded her in death in September 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Stone, of Louisville; a grandson, Jennifer Rodges, of Lampasas; a grandson, Seth Stone, of Louisville; and two great-grandchildren.
The family requested memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. McCoy
Martha Fay "Marty" Eubanks McCoy of Adamsville died March 16, 2006, at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. She was 75.
Funeral services were March 20 at Adamsville Baptist Church with Minister Glynn Tyson officiating. Burial was at Townsen Cemetery near Adamsville.
Mrs. McCoy was born April 21, 1930, in Asherton, to Fay and Carl Eubanks. She was reared in Lampasas and Coryell counties, and graduated from Gatesville High School in 1947. She attended Baylor University.
She was married to Fred William "Bill" McCoy.
After devoting herself to her family as a homemaker, Mrs. McCoy worked for the Lampasas Dispatch Record for a number of years.
Following that, she was able to enjoy a few more years with her husband during his retirement.
After his death in 1988, Mrs. McCoy re-entered the workforce, where she was employed at the Hughes Unit mailroom in Gatesville. She retired in 1997.
Mrs. McCoy was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter Margaret McCoy Sargent, and husband, Scott, of Arlington, son Michael William McCoy, of Lampasas, and daughter Jane McCoy Plante, and husband, Mike, of Victoria, B.C.; sisters, Mary Evelyn Eubanks Voss, and husband, Harry, of Gatesville, Billie Margaret Eubanks Short, of Wimberley, and Bobbie Fern Eubanks Steakley, of Colorado City; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and by a granddaughter, Martha Michelle McCoy.
The family requested memorials be made to Rollins Brook Community Hospital in Lampasas or Providence Hospice in Waco.
